The First Lady has come a
long way, and she hasn’t
finished yet

Telegraph [UK], by Ellen Miller

She is hugely popular – even more popular with the American public than her husband is, according to some polls. She’s widely admired and she’s seen as a strong character. But what do the next four years hold for Michelle Obama, now her husband has been elected for a second term? To answer the question, you have first to look at where she has come from, what she’s achieved so far, and the forces that have shaped her. Her parents were black, inner-city, lower-middle-class Americans. Her mother stayed at home to raise Michelle and her brother.

Having to hear about MO's prospects is the epitomy of rubbing salt in the wound. She's going to take her great let's move idiocy to cities, states and counties. It's all a lead up to the left taking over the food industry on a national basis. Of course they won't attack the people who are really behind the obesity epidemic.Discount double check on fried chicken.

Her father worked for the city that at that time paid its garbage men more than teachers. They lived in a Chicago bungalow which wasn't cheap. Everyone's mother was a stay-at-home mom in the 60s. They were at worst solidly middle-class. She did not start where Marco Rubio or Clarence Thomas started from. She went to the best schools. She's always lived an entitlement lifestyle, and now thinks she's entitled to tell us how to live.

I love how they rewrite history as in the Kennedy stuff, but now they are doing it as it happens. We are truly in enormous trouble forever it seems to me. How do you learn from history when it's all a big lie?

There is enough misinformation in this puff piece to keep us busy for a week. They conveniently leave out the part where her father's patronage job came from his being a ward heeler, the lowest rank on the political totem.

The stories about her mother include one that she did in fact work - the the Spiegel catalogue company.

And those who knew the family said they were middle class. Not lower middle class. Mooch went to a pretty spiffy magnet school in Chicago.

No, the rags to riches story of personal ascent just doesn't hold up here. And we know that most of her "wild popularity" is in her own community. They "love, love, love" her.

She has worn out her welcome. I plan to ignore her.

UKIP could attract 30 per cent of the vote if it can get its act together, a major new study of the party claims today. The academic study, which analysed the views of more than 100,000 voters, says support for Ukip is driven not just by Euroscepticism, but also by ‘hostility’ to immigration and ‘intense dissatisfaction’ with the three main parties. It suggests that almost one-third of voters share at least two of these values and might be persuaded to vote for the party in future if it can succeed in getting its message across. A promise made to an ageing Sir Winston Churchill has been honoured after a kitten was given a home at his country estate. For his 88th birthday in 1962, Churchill was given a marmalade cat named Jock after one of his private secretaries, Sir John "Jock" Colville, who gave him the pet. The cat was so dear to the former Prime Minister that it was rumoured that meals would not start until Jock was at the table. He and his family requested that, after his death, there should always be a marmalade cat named Jock with a white bib and four white socks resident at Chartwell in Kent.
