Akin says he got
a 'real skunking'

Politico, by MacKenzie Weinger

Todd Akin on Wednesday called his defeat in the Missouri Senate race to Sen. Claire McCaskill a “real skunking.” Akin spoke about his failed bid with Mike Huckabee, the Republican’s highest-profile defender, on the former Arkansas governor’s radio show. Huckabee introduced Akin to his listeners by saying there was “maybe no greater disappointment personally” on Tuesday than Akin’s loss. Akin called Tuesday a “very, very hard, hard day and hard night.” “I always told people, ‘I don’t trust those polls,’ and the polls said it was supposedly very close or within a few points, and we finished

Comments:
No, our country got a "real skunking." This is one race we should have won. He and Mourdock should have kept their mouths shut. They know how Democrats will destroy you over anything mispoken. Huckabee congratulated him on an 'honorable race??' Puhleeze.

Hopefully, this embarassment will flee from public life altogether. The only way to embarass yourself, your family and your countrymen and achieve high political success is to join the Democratic Party. For an example, see Joe Biden. Adios, Akin - you dimwit.

Akin should have done the honorable thing and dropped out of the race. His staying in gave the majority to Clair. I hope Akin rots in H E double hocky sticks.

Akin is an engineer. That explains why he didn't drop out and let someone else represent the Republican party. My experience has been that engineers think they are the smartest person in the room.

What did he think was going to happen? He showed terrible judgment with his poorly chosen words, and insisted on confirming it by refusing to step aside.

Akin is the skunk - and he and Huckabee really stink!

There is no excusing what Akin said. The fact that he didn't immediately drop out and the fact that Huckabee supported him are truly disgraceful!

The GOP will simply fade away and die if they keep promoting men like Akin and Mourdock.

A real skunking would mean he got no votes. This guy can't express himself out of a wet paper bag. No wonder he put his foot in his mouth earlier. He's an imbecile.

What did he expect, a landslide victory? he got his rear end whipped but good over his idiotic remarks about abortion. His massive ego would not let him step aside knowing he had no chance after the fiasco. If he would have stepped aside and let another candidate take his place, it might have been different. In MHO Claire would have won no matter who the Republicans put up against her. Akin just made her win a cake walk. Now it's time to get over it and get a life.

I agree with the last paragraph by #8. They are both boneheads, why should they even have answered such gotcha questions, as the US Senate has nothing to do with defining rape or abortion.

The Republican Party pushed this honorable man as far away as possible.
Chris Christie embraced and lauded BHO.

And somehow it's AKIN'S fault?

No, it is the tendency for R's to run away and the Left to fight and defend.

Akin won the primary against two others. He got around 36% of the vote.

He then said the goofy "legitimate rape" comment.

Akin then said he would not step down from running as he was elected in the primary.

In reality...true. But realistically.. over 60% of Republicans wanted someone else.

So he listened to God who talks to his wife Lulubelle...and he stayed in.

And now we in Missouri have McCaskill as our United States Senator for six more years.

Thanks Todd.

He didn't use "poorly chosen words". He said what he believed. I wouldn't want anyone dumb enough to believe that a woman's body "shuts down" during a "legitimate" rape so she can't get pregnant to make any decision or vote in the Senate for anything that would affect me or any of us. His level of stupidity is mindboggling.

"Missouri, this is the best you got?!!!"

Missouri Rats crossed over in the primary and gave the most beatable Republican in the field the nomination. Even without his idiotic comments, Akin was a loser.

When he didn't step down later, he poisoned the whole GOP well. Attack ads in MO painted McCaskill as a moderate and used Romney's own words to destroy Akin. Akin was hugely outspent and his effective ads were few and far between.

What an ugly, ugly, ugly saga.

Mourdock and Akin are both embarrassments to the party. They didn't cost Romney the election but they didn't help, and they lost two easily winnable seats by their stupidity. Shame on them, and I hope never to hear from them again.

So I suppose all you are going to hammer the rest of the Republicans who lost as well? Maybe Romney should have stepped aside for a better candidate huh?

Akin got what we all got - beaten by a people who've become ignorant and lazy - willing to be mothered by an all-powerful government. America wants socialism because we've let the socialists run our corporations, our schools, our media and yes, sometimes even our churches. I'm a Missourian and I don't know any Republicans who said they'd not vote for Akin. Lack of Republican and Republican Party support beat Akin. I no longer support the 'country club' Republican party - the go-along to get-along group that just wants to be in the 'club' so they can occasionally get a seat at the table. That's just not good enough.

Sports fans, the problem is in the electorate. We Missourians got the prez vote right, but not the Senate vote.

If it makes you feel good to vilify Akin, go ahead. He**, why don't you get a lynch mob together? I only live about 10 miles from his HQ, so I can drive you there. But what good has it been to us to insist on purity in thought and deed?

Reply 26 - Posted by: Blackeagle, 11/7/2012 4:38:46 PM     (No. 8997547)

A primary runoff could have prevented this. Akin got 36% in a three way race. With a runoff, he would have then gotten 36% in a two-way race.

More than 700 Special Operations veterans are urging members of Congress to back a select committee to investigate last year’s Benghazi terrorist attack, according to a letter first obtained by Fox News. The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

Amid all of the very real threats of war and stuff from North Korea, you´d think American intelligence officers want as much video footage of the enemy as possible. Well, here is one video featuring North Korean exercises and Kim Jong-Un holding a gun, and we´ll say this: they certainly get points for presentation. It appears to be the same state news channel.(Snip for video)This latest dispatch from North Korea´s state television
