Laura Ingraham joined America Live Wednesday to reflect on Mitt Romney’s loss in the 2012 presidential election and what it should signal to Republicans. Ingraham acknowledged that the president ran a terrific campaign and in the end, people just couldn’t connect to Mitt Romney. According to Ingraham, people “didn’t really know, in the end, what [Romney] stood for.” She continued, “He talked about things like 12 million new jobs and [how] we’re going to free up the energy sector, but it wasn’t enough for people to sink their teeth into.” She argued that Romney avoided pressing
Comments: I sure had more of a connection with Romney than Barack Hussein 0bama! I think this election was won on voter fraud. All the absentee ballots and early voting in those critical states could have been easily tampered with. But alas, it doesn't matter now does it?
I paid attention. Was not a Romney fan in the spring, but by September, I was convinced of his integrity, his ability, his sincerity, kindness and generosity, and his love of country. I felt a deep connection and was proud to cast my vote for him. People who "didn't connect" were not able to do so because they got their news from John Stewart, Chris Matthews, and Brian Williams. Their image of Romney came from Dave Letterman and Saturday Night Live. I've come to the sad conclusion that we cannot reach an ignorant electorate.
No Laura, Romney's reputatio was besmearched the minute he won the nomination; he was Palinized along with many other Republicans. The tactics has worked so often, you would think the Repubicans would have figured it out already.
What with all of this Connection crap?, I want them to be qualified for the job, that is all that matters, can and will they do the job, I don't have to connect with them or like them or have a relationship with them. I want them to follow the constitution and stay out of the way otherwise. Do we have to like them no, who cares what they look like, or their Religion, as long as it won't limit our freedoms. Really people, it has now become a popularity contest instead of a job. no wonder were in so much trouble!!! geez.
Laura is not one of my favorite people but don't hear her or see her much. Good thing, apparently one of those touchy feely gals. Who on earth would want to be connected in any fashion with that smarmy puke? Mitt was all man and easy to understand and you know he was telling the truth. The critter said what he would do and hasn't done a thing but travel, talk and spend taxpayers'money.
One more futile post - much of our electorate has become the kardashian nation, willing to grant fame to people who are famous for being famous and nothing more. And now that Zero has a second term, his replacement will get ready by offering to continue the freebies to half the population. I weep for our once great country.
I agree, I definintely connect more with a president who hobknobs with Hollywood, rappers, magazine editors, singers and the lefty elitist millionaires in this country. Yes sir, I surely do connect with those folks. I connect with them when I see them on tv and in magazines and in the movies. Yeah, they're my kinda folks. Listen up people, they've already retreated to their mansions. They are done with you until the next election cycle. They won't be around when you lose your job, your house, your savings, etc. They just expect you to keep purchasing their version of culture. Regroup conservatives. Figure it out. Stop enabling these hoods, stop buying their products. Cut them off at the knees. Let's get in their faces this time. Let's put them out of work.
Ingraham is an idiot! She wants to double down on the very things that are wrong with the GOP. If you think Romney lost because he wasn't socially conservative enough - you are part of the problem.
Women are not going back to the fifties. It's never going to happen. Gays aren't going back into closet. Get over it. The GOP is stupid - stupid and unconscious. It's time to wake up and get to know the people who live in this country. The days of lecturing others on how they should live their lives are long gone.
The GOP is pretty much down to one good thing - fiscal conservatism - living within our means. That's really, really important - but as we just saw - it does not trump personal freedom.
I felt a true connection. Romney reminds me of my dad, who has love of family and a work ethic that won't quit. Now Obama can hit the golf course and tell the rest of us to pound sand. Our fellow countrymen reelected him so he can sit on his lazy butt as much as he wants to. And of course, it is time for Michelle to take Air Force One and 100 of her closest friends to a five star hotel in some exotic, expensive location, courtesy of the American taxpayers.
OK I am done reading why Romney lost..or voters didn't connect...its all hogwash
America had a choice...America or Amerika high taxes...low taxes open boarders...closed boarders free healthcare for unions..no healthcare for senior citizens and children under the age of 15... coal...or no coal...warmth or cold...
Seems Amerika wants from America... Its not Romneys fault...his message was out there...just ask the thousands that showed up in Colorado...or the thousands that showed up outside of Cinn...and at the same time obama had 2800 people show up...the message was out there....but others wanted an Amerika instead
Agree entirely with OP. This was the most fraudently held -- outright fraud encouraged election, I've ever witnessed. Mitt Romney is a very smart man, I'm sure he knows this, but the worst thing he could do -- and probably the least effective is to make charges along these lines without the nearly impossible resources needed to prove it on as large a scale as it was perpetrated -- from the deliberately manufactured chaos of ''early voting'' to union maintenanced machines. This election was stolen every bit as much as Saddam Hussein's last election in 2002. And the winner is celebrating with the same smugness and absence of shame.
As for Laura Ingraham, her particular zealousness for her newly found Catholicism (something that would be admirable on it's own) would not allow her to forgive Romney for winning the primary over Santorum or Gingrich either. Interviews during and after on EWTN made that plain. She's disingenuous at best on the subject of Mitt Romney. And unforgiving. She's not that unhappy with the results.
Republicans eat their own. Democrats do not. We learned last night that reality of what is going on is lost on the GOP. We also learned that the Democrat Party is held to a much lower standard than we had imagined.
Feel, Schmeel. Where are the rational thinkers, the people with common sense, the people who can analyze what pols say and come to a reasonable conclusion as to whether they are trustworthy or not? I'm afraid our schools have trained our populace not to think anymore, just FEEL!
I had the same sinking feeling about Romney as I did when we ran Dole, and McCain. Good men but no chance at all of winning. Going against Obama was futile considering all of the special interests out there king pinning on his re-election. So much at stake for free government money for everyone. Redistribution of wealth and taxing the rich is a hard thing to beat. Plus fee money and free cell phones is good tasting voter candy. Add in gay marriage, immigration changes coming that will open the gates at the border and this country will be fundamentally transformed into a third world social state the likes no one could have ever imagined. Times have changed. It is what it is. Now Obamacare is here to stay. Gas prices today are around $4 a gallon. In four years they will be around $8 a gallon.
I agreed with at least one of Romney's positions on most issues. Like when he was against gun control, and when he was against unions, and when he was against bailouts, and TARP, and free abortion on demand, and especially when he was against Obamacare... well, against "certain provisions" in Obamacare.
I just don't see why people couldn't make a connection, when he had so many stances on so many issues, you couldn't help but find something to agree with!
I disagree that there was no connection; the crowds that showed up for Mitt Romney was evidence of a strong connection. That is absurd. I certainly have more respect for Romney than I do for John McCain.
I don't feel the need blame Romney today. He ran a clean and respectable campaign. He lost because, among other factors, we now have a large uneducated and uninformed citizenry that is willing to squander liberty for an 0bama mortgage and a phone. For example, there are people, like three of our neighbors, who bought houses they couldn't afford and then deliberately didn't pay their mortgages so that they could qualify for these special loans. They believe the economy is getting better. One of these neighbors does not believe that the Constitution is the law of the land. That's right, she does not believe it. She does not believe that we have a Constitutional Republic, either. And, as a Democrat, she never heard of Harry Reid, I kid you not.
Mitt Romney is a gracious and charitable man, I do know that much. 0bama is neither. Romney is a moral and decent man. 0bama is neither. Romney truly loves the American people and America. 0bama loves only himself.
No amount of analyzing "what happened" is going to turn this country around. We patriots must stay true to our convictions and principles, regardless of the consequences. Do right, not wrong. This life is not all there is; we do not live for ourselves. We are resourceful, and those of us who believe in hard work and individualism will figure out creative ways to survive and live our lives. We will take care of those we love. And God will give us the strength and wisdom to do it.
Romney, an old white rich guy, was the perfect target for the Obama crew's Chicago street fighter based class warfare demagogic campaign. The liberal media; and the Obama crew were out fraudulently defining Romney with hundreds of ads to the voters in the swing States last summer as Romney was relaxing on the lake at Wolfboro, NH. Since Romney never refuted those bogus Obama charges, he never had a chance in the swing States that were crucial to winning the election.
The wimpy Republicans should have learned from the G.W. Bush era that fraudulent liberal Democrat charges that are not rebutted will kill you, just like they killed Bush who ignored the media beating that the liberals were giving him for many years. All that did was begot the country Barack Obama.
Laura.. youre wrong. Just because Obama was able, with the aid of complicit media, to bamboozle the tiny bit larger section of the public that is so out of touch they couldn't even name the Secretary of State.. doesn't mean it was for any lack in our candidate. Some say he was too moderate, and just as many can say he wasn't moderate enough. I say as long as we let some of these social issues come out of the closet every 2 years to be a bellwether of a worth of a candidate, we will be stuck with a pubic that is always more conderned with the winner of Dancing with the Stars than how we pay for health care and keeping the bad guys from killing us.
Its time to hold our elected officials to their words. And that includes Obama. He likes to talk alot and promise alot, now lets hear how he is gonna do it. Quit blaming Romney. He was the adult in the room and wanted to try to fix our country.
#23, you're right. But it's all going to be moot when the Iranians show up in our major cities with their suitcase nukes. Don't think it isn't coming either. That stupid Biden was so smug about them not having a delivery system. Idiot. They have millions of delivery systems. I had a wonderful teacher back in prehistory. He taught us to think. His favorite phrase was, "I don't want to know how you feel, I want to know what you think." Invaluable. Unfortunately, by the 80's the touchy-feelie sob sisters had taken over and now everyone's a sensitive wreck. But hey, now everyone knows exactly how everyone else FEELS. Bleeeechhhh...
so sick of the monday morning quarterbacking. shoulda woulda coulda......He ran one of the best campaigns we have seen in a long time and his GOTV was outstanding. People chose something else. Plain and simple. He worked his butt off as did his family, Paul Ryan's family and staff. I am proud of their efforts. I am not proud of my fellow voters (won't say Americans, because I don't believe they all are)
This voter felt a connection; he's decent, honorable and compassionate. And he got the shaft from shallow cultural cyphers who wouldn't understand such traits.
Let's face it; America is no longer filled with decent, honorable, informed voters. The Greatest Generation has pretty much died out and we're left with uneducated America-haters who really believe conservatives want to kill Granny and who are more impressed with celebrity and diversity than with competence and brains.
Those who live long enough to see the next election had damn well figure out how to fix this, if it's fixable. I'm not sure it is any more.
No Laura my family had a connection with Romney, but you see we like to work to provide for our family, Romney wanted people to work, Obama and his voters want things given to them. That is what is happening in America, to many do NOT want to work, they want the working people to share their earnings with them. Romney/Ryan are class acts and good men, and would have been so good for this country. Sad day for this country.
Partially true...he wasn't going to give them stuff...so they turned to the smiling Obie who does give them stuff but secretely gets them in the back with higher prices on gas and increased taxes and fees...but the freebee hoarders don't know it's Obie because he blames Congress...How stupid can people be?
Romney seems to connect well with the electorate. I believe the demonrats even thought he was going to win.
If the numbers above are correct then the reason he didn't win is because some conservatives didn't vote for him. That is simply despicable. You handed the country to the American NAZI party because you couldn't vote for a Mormon?
#31 I hope the Iranians or North Koreans DO show up with suitcase bombs in major cities.
Killing 20 or 30 million home grown socialist is about the only way the US can be saved. It would be better if Americans didn't have to do it themselves.
Two bombs each in NYC and LA. One in SF one in Boston, one in Baltimore, Two in Houston one in Madison, Two in Chicago. Detroit can be spared as it is dying anyway, one more in Miami and Tampa.
Maybe the Islamist can purge some professors from major universities as well. I work in academia I could provide partial list of which ones to start with
She's very wrong. The enthusiasm advantage was definitely more on the R & R team as evident by the turnouts at events & they definitely got the white vote and won the debates on issues. Mitt Romney & Paul Ryan connected. Period. If this had been 1980, Mitt would have won.
The problem is that the demographics of America has changed. The facts that voters in Washington are for legalizing marijuana's recreational use and voters in Massachusetts think doctor-assisted suicides are just peachy, tell me that too many 2012 American voters have lost their moral conscience. Too many people are sucking from the public teat now and Obama appealed to their fears and envy. Unfortunately, de Torqueville was prescient - America would be destroyed when her citizens found out they could vote free stuff for themselves. Obama campaigned not on issues or his dismal record but by pandering to a bunch of special interest groups. In the end, the vote in 2012 wasn't about connecting with voters but about which candidate could pay a higher price for the average voter's ballot when he found out he could sell. And, this is tragic, because it marks the end of people coming together as Americans.
I hope deTorqueville is wrong, that the average American voter will change. But if that happens, it will happen with a lot more pain than if R & R had won. I see America 2012 as a redux of Europe in 1930's where appeasers only managed to postpone the inevitable war only to have to pay a heavy price in blood and treasure later for stick their collective heads in the ground.
I don't feel a connection with Laura Ingraham. That is why I don't watch her when she subs for BOR, no matter how desperate I am for something to watch. Her radio show was cancelled here, too. And it looks like 59 million people did feel a connection of some sort with Romney because that's how many votes he got.
The days of lecturing others on how they should live their lives are long gone.
That is aimed at the GOP? What is so amusing about this kind of tripe is that anyone paying attention for the last, oh, 80 or 90 years recognizes that it is the Democrats who use the power of government to impose on and dictate to people’s lives. Space allows but one illustration: Sending women “back to the 50s”. I’m aware of no piece of legislation the GOP has ever introduced on this topic. Rather, Democrats have actually passed legislation forcing taxpayers and religious institutions to fund abortion on demand and contraception. The GOP opposes this kind of government coercion, and is therefore branded as “anti-women” and accused of using the government to control women’s bodies – when the most rudimentary examination reveals the exact opposite is true. If one can’t see the perversity in that, one is too far gone to deal with rationally.
The reality is that conservative policies DID NOT create the current social or economic condition of the country. However, if the country were ever to have a chance to recover – which it won’t at this point – conservative policies are the only way to do it. As one can see from the comments here, this is a lost cause.
I'm pleasantly surprised at the reactions of the above posters regarding the negative attitude of Laura Ingraham, because I agree. There were times when I had to turn her off the radio when she went on her constant rants of GWBush. She was merciless. But what does that get her? She did the same thing regarding Romney. No one pleases her and her criticisms are ruthless. I can't take her anymore.
I am up to here with the pontificating pundits. Laura Ingraham has no idea whether we connect with Mitt Romney or not, nor does she have any idea how many probably don't "connect" with Obit except to put their hands out for a giveaway.
Sweeping statements like this show limited intelligence in my book and/or an inflated sense of self.
I lost interest in strident Laura Ingraham years ago.
mitt was my first choice in 2008 and he was my first choice in 2012. i connected with him..... he symbolized everything decent and innovative about the american spirit. i loved the fact he was married to the same woman for 42 yrs, he had a wonderful family who loved him. i'm not even going to rehash his success in everything he set his mind to do. he was sabotaged by a media who were jonesing for another term for their messiah. lord knows (and thank goodness) i feel no connection to the punk in the WH..i would have to re-examine my psyche if i did.
#20...i totally agree with you. i was a poll watcher for mitt all day yesterday. i saw absentee ballots, provisional ballots and people making "mistakes" on their ballots and voting again. supposedly, their "incorrect" ballot was thrown away and ex'ed but who knows if they weren't put through the scanner again. i gave my time and some money for this ticket because i believed so much in mitt romney...i don't regret a second. i just cry for what america has become. i'm not speaking to my mother. she seems to think it's OK to give away 55% of the estate my father left for his family.

She's sort of right. There WAS a 2.5 million conservative disconnect. Some may have been "bigots", but more, I believe, were conservative purists who voted for McCain last time & are bitterly disappointed with the GOP for giving us moderate candidates. And 2.5 million stayed home.
Good news is, 10 million stayed home from Obama's base. 10 million! If only it had been 13 million. If only the purists would have voted anyway, no matter the disconnect. I sure hope I'm wrong about our dollar collapsing this term. I really do hope I'm wrong. But I don't think I am.
IMHO, voters no longer feel much of a "connection" with Laura Ingram or the rest of the talking heads who spent a year denigrating Mitt Romney. And now, despite their daily rantings, they have the unmitigated gall to accuse Mitt Romney of running a "bad" Election! Sounds like she believes voters DO "feel a connection" with obama! That tells me all I need to know about Ms. Ingraham who has gotten very full of herself, much like a lot of "gopers" who have set themselves far above the supporters of Mitt Romney because they are all soo much more intelligent (and let's not forget "conservative) than we peons are. demonrats stick together and will defend the lowest of the low, if that person is a fellow believer, unlike a lot of weak-kneed-so-called-republicans. BTW, I agree with #8.
PJ Media columnist J. Christian Adams appeared on The Kelly File on Fox News on Friday to talk about his recent article detailing how the Department of Homeland Security has recently hired activist immigration attorneys who worked for pro-amnesty, pro-asylum, and open borders groups in the past. Now, sources inside DHS have provided PJ Media with the employment history and pro-amnesty backgrounds of the newly hired lawyers who will be enforcing federal immigration laws. The ideological histories of these new DHS lawyers undermine confidence that the federal government will vigorously enforce federal laws, notwithstanding any congressional “mandates” to do so.
WASHINGTON -- A longtime adviser to the U.S. Director of National Intelligence has resigned after the government learned he has worked since 2010 as a paid consultant for Huawei Technologies Ltd., the Chinese technology company the U.S. has condemned as an espionage threat, The Associated Press has learned. Theodore H. Moran, a respected expert on China´s international investment and professor at Georgetown University, had served since 2007 as adviser to the intelligence director´s advisory panel on foreign investment in the United States. Moran also was an adviser to the National Intelligence Council,

At the "Fast Food Forward" protest on Thursday, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) demanded that Pres. Obama sign an executive order bypassing Congress and unilaterally raising the federal minimum wage. Rep. Ellison told the crowd that they should join him in demanding that Pres. Obama skip seeking Congressional approval and raise the minimum wage on his own - and that he sent the president a letter on Wednesday presenting his demand: "We in Congress will try to raise the minimum wage. We got opponents on the other side of the aisle who say that there shouldn´t be no minimum wage. So, we
Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan joined WSJ Live host Mary Kissel on Friday where they discussed the ongoing issues associated with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Noonan said she found the way in which this administration has handled this crisis has been among the “oddest” she’s seen. Noonan added that she would like to see “humility” from President Barack Obama rather than combativeness. Kissel began by asking about the “puzzle” of the president’s response to the crisis surrounding the ACA’s faltering website. “I look at the White House the past two months, I think the president and
Another leftist lets the mask slip. Jonathan Alter believes that violent criminals imprisoned for their crimes are political prisoners. He and Al Sharpton talked to themselves on MSNBC today. Sharpton asked Alter what America might learn from the example of Nelson Mandela. Reasonable answers to this question include but are not limited to: Don’t abuse political power to punish your enemies; don’t hold on to political power forever; choose your wife or husband a bit more carefully; don’t seek to divide when unity serves the nation better. Alter wants America to learn a different lesson. None of the above. Alter
As Congress gets ready to battle on immigration reform next year, it´s important to take a look at who will help enforce and shape any kind of immigration overhaul. Former Department of Justice Assistant Attorney General and radical open borders attorney Tom Perez was safely put into the position of Labor Secretary by President Obama and the Senate earlier this year, knowing the Department of Justice is safely locked down as pro-amnesty. Perez has a long history of advocating not for American workers, but for illegal alien workers and made sure the Department of Justice was stacked with pro-amnesty attorneys
Barack Obama delivered a statement on the passing of Nelson Mandela yesterday. During his speech he told about his first public speech on apartheid at Occidental College. “I am one of the countless millions who drew inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s life. My very first political action, the first thing I ever did that involved an issue or a policy or politics, was a protest against apartheid. I studied his words and his writings.” But, Barack Obama forgot to mention that his speech at Occidental was sponsored by Marxists and Weatherman terrorists. Barack Obama’s first public speech was at an Occidental College event
Rep. Matt Cartwright, a member of President Obama´s Obamacare "strike team," says it´s a "good thing" that people are losing their old health care plans: "Because a lot of those people, they did have policies that didn´t meet the minimum standards. That´s just not a theoretical discussion. There´s a reason you have minimum standards. There are people out there who have insurance that´s really an illusion of coverage. They have immense deductibles, they have annual and lifetime caps. There´s so many people out there with what I call phony insurance policies and the fact that they´re going to lose those
Fresh off his interview with President Barack Obama, MSNBC host Chris Matthews appeared on Now with Alex Wagner to review what the president said and to express his thoughts on the passing of former South African President Nelson Mandela. Matthews linked the GOP to South Africa’s white apartheid advocates and declared that those who facilitated the transition to Mandela’s presidency were more patriotic and had greater regard for their country than the Republicans in Congress. Matthews acknowledged a point that Rev. Al Sharpton had made earlier in this broadcast where he noted that the last apartheid president, F.W. de Klerk, recognized
The Obama administration knew as early as August that the small-business portal on healthcare.gov would not be ready by the Oct. 1 launch, but delayed admitting those problems until Nov. 27, according to documents released by House Republicans on Friday. In one colorful email exchange in mid-August, Henry Chao, the administration official charged with the development of the online insurance marketplaces, expressed frustration with delays from the private contractor working on the website. When the contractor suggested a new date of Nov. 15 for the launch of the small-business portal of the website, Chao bluntly asked: “Can we sign this
The White House dismissed a report suggesting that President Obama and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius did not meet ahead of the botched rollout of Obamacare. Obama press secretary Jay Carney said the claim was based on a “ridiculously false premise.” “Kathleen Sebelius comes frequently and she meets frequently with the president,” he said. “She’s here a lot and meets with the president with regularity.” “It’s safe to say Secretary Sebelius spent a lot of time here,” he added, noting the administration’s focus on health care reform. The report from Politico Magazine noted that a Government Accountability Institute analysis of the president’s
Last summer on his $100 million family tour of Africa, Barack Obama hoped for a priceless photo op with Nelson Mandela, the ailing freedom pioneer who went from prison cell to the presidency of South Africa. Mandela´s family suggested that wouldn’t happen. So, the Obamas did a photo op in Mandela´s former prison cell. Which Obama’s White House quickly tweeted upon word of the icon´s passing at 95. [Skip] But Obama was also caught staring at television coverage of Mandela’s passing, which became Obama’s Photo of the Day.
More young men in California rise in pitch at the end of their sentences when talking, new research shows. This process is known as "uptalk" or "valleygirl speak" and has in the past been associated with young females, typically from California or Australia. But now a team says that this way of speaking is becoming more frequent among men.The findings were presented at the Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in California. "We found use of uptalk in all of our speakers, despite their diverse backgrounds in socioeconomic status, ethnicity, bilingualism and gender," said Amanda Ritchart, a linguist at the University of

The most curious thing of all about the November jobs report released on Friday was the huge drop in the unemployment rate — and the fact that the Labor Department chose not to disclose that the data going into that figure are under investigation for falsification. On Nov. 19, I broke the news in my column that the Census Bureau, which collects data that goes into the jobless rate on behalf of Labor, had caught one of its enumerators fabricating interviews in 2010. The culprit said back then (and to me during an interview) that he was told to do so by
Speaker John Boehner said his party should support gay Republican congressional candidates and urged his colleagues to “be a little more sensitive” when running against women. “Some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be,” Boehner said. When asked if he thinks his party should support gay candidates, Boehner simply said: “I do.”
Denver - A baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex ceremony must serve gay couples despite his religious beliefs or face fines, a judge said Friday. The order from administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer said Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver discriminated against a couple "because of their sexual orientation by refusing to sell them a wedding cake for their same-sex marriage." The order says the cake-maker must "cease and desist from discriminating" against gay couples. Although the judge did not impose fines in this case, the business will face penalties if it continues to turn away gay

In February, the Bush family’s personal emails were hacked by Guccifer, a hacker who uncovered photographs of former President George H. W. Bush in a hospital bed and George W. Bush’s oil paintings in the process. It seems Guccifer has struck again, this time targeting former President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Library. The hacker has reportedly uncovered doodles of Clinton drawing on what were, at the time, classified documents. Among the doodles is apparently a picture of a penis. The document uncovered is a briefing of the strategic measures the United States could take prior Clinton’s decision to intervene in
Former President Bill Clinton shared an anecdote regarding Nelson Mandela and the aftermath of his impeachment Friday on CNN. Clinton revealed shortly after the “impeachment business” finished on Capitol Hill, Rep. Henry Hyde (R., Ill.) who managed the impeachment trial requested a meeting at the White House. The former president granted the meeting out of lessons of humility and forgiveness he learned from Mandela, he said: BILL CLINTON: I remember one day, oh, about a month after the whole impeachment business was over, Henry Hyde, who had run the whole show, unbelievably enough, maybe a few months after, it was
One definition of a pathological liar is someone who lies where the truth would serve just as well. When President Obama’s uncle, Onyango Obama, was arrested in 2011 for drunk driving, the truth — that Obama had stayed with his uncle years earlier for several weeks as a Harvard law student — would have served the president just fine. No potential Obama voter would have held it against him that an uncle he had stayed with two decades earlier was picked up for DUI. Yet the White House went with a lie, claiming that Obama had never met his uncle. Now that
Many people could die as extreme weather becomes common. There will be more freak winds like the October storm, which killed four people. Heatwaves will be lethal and the sea level will rise, leaving coastal towns at risk of being swamped by storm surges. Sir Brian Heap, president of the European Academies Science Advisory Council, said he felt “obliged” to issue the warning after a new study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It comes on the back of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, which has killed more than 5,000 people. Sir Brian said: “Given the tragic events this
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is sending out letters telling gun owners to turn over their rifles and shotguns — or else face the consequences.
