| Rep. Jim Matheson (D-Utah) survived a tough challenge from Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love (R), edging out the challenger by little more than a single percentage point. With all precincts reporting, Matheson led Love by less than 3,000 votes — a margin so slim that the Associated Press had yet to call the race in favor of the Democrat. But Love conceded early Wednesday morning, offering Matheson her congratulations and thanking her supporters.

Allen West lost too?? Jesus, with all the chaos I hadn't heard West lost. There has got to be something wrong with this picture. I can almost understand Obama winning...but all these other loses of individuals like West who had energized the Repub base. Somethings wrong here but we'll never know because Republicans are to nice to ever raise a fuss which is why we always LOSE!

I have zero trust in our election system. I simply do not believe this outcome when you consider what happened in 2010. No way could we have changed this much in those two years, and no way the dims got that much more rev'd up in that time.

They ran a barrage of attack ads against Mia Love. Most of them claimed she loved big government and big taxes. I knew the truth and could ignore them, but they were truly frightening ads. It also seemed that she ran few ads of her own until near the end. Matheson voted against Obamacare, but he waited until the last minute when Pelosi had the votes and gave him permission to vote against it. People here should have voted him out because of that wavering alone. On another note, we need a new House leader that will leave Obamacare out of the budget. Not one that funds it just to get along.

#12 is right. I'm certain that many of the GOP losses last night are the result of voter fraud. It certainly explains whey the entire Republican slate was wiped out in MA, even when faced with unpopular Democrat opponents (Warren, Tierney, etc.). (Those who count the votes determine the election.) That Mia Love lost indicates that the same Democrat-led voter fraud is active even in Republican-leaning states.

I'd sure like someone to do some research into these "surprise" races and whether those precincts, districts, states, had electronic voting machines and who made and programmed them? I also wonder if there wasn't some rather skillful hacking going on from China?
I'd also like to know if these machines are certified prior to and after each election? Someone needs to demand all these machines be sequestered and tested for veracity.

RINO-hunting, the long-popular political sport that morphed in 2008 into a sort of hysteria-driven obsession, lately has become a suicide mission. RINO, of course, refers to Republicans In Name Only and is the pejorative term used against those who fail to march in lockstep with the so-called conservative base. I used “so-called” because, though the hard-right faction of the party tends to be viewed as The Base, this isn’t necessarily so. My guess is there are now more RINOs than those who, though evangelical in their zeal, are poison to their party’s ability to win national elections.

If you want to understand why President Obama was reelected despite a largely unsuccessful presidency and almost unprecedentedly high and continuous unemployment, just look at the Cuban-American vote. (Snip) Democratic presidential nominees went from 25 percent of the Cuban-American vote in 2000, to 29 percent in 2004, to 35 percent in 2008, to 48 percent in 2012. We obviously have a dramatic trend here. Now, why would that be? There are two reasons: No experience of evil, and American education. Charles Murray argues, admittedly impressionistically, that the Republican party’s social conservatism is turning off Asian Americans. Asians who became successful because everyone in the family worked two or three jobs (a common strategy behind Asian success) are likely to be offended by the liberal “You didn’t build that” mentality. Unlike every other minority group, Asians owe nothing to the Democrats for affirmative action. On the contrary, Asians are penalized by affirmative action, especially in the universities, where discrimination against Asian applicants (relative to their superb academic qualifications) has been documented in the technical literature.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends. Winters was a pioneer of improvisational standup comedy, with an exceptional gift for mimicry, a grab bag of eccentric personalities and a bottomless reservoir of creative energy.
