Really clever American voters stick with Obama's failed status quo

| Well, American voters have made their 2012 presidential choice, and now they get to live with it. On Nov. 6, the same day that saw the election of Abraham Lincoln and reelection of Ronald Reagan, they opted to reelect Barack Obama, the first time since the Founding Fathers that the country has awarded two terms to three consecutive presidents. Two-thirds of Americans have consistently said the country is on the wrong track. So, naturally they opted to stick with a stinking status quo they've whined about for years now.

I'd like to see the republicans shut down the government...for years. Will they lose seats? Sure. But not for 2 years. In other words...war.

Unfortunately, I suspect that in the near future, all of the grousing in polite forums will have to become something more forceful before they start herding us all into metaphorical or literal cattle-cars. Yes, that's what it's going to come to. There will be no debating or reasoned discourse with animals.

Christie may still try something in 2016. Oh, look! With Romney's defeat, the road is conveniently clear for him -- and others from the GOP's incredibly deep bench. But Christie will have as much success with that effort as he has with Jenny Craig.
Our Andrew really lets him have it.

It is mystifying, but I guess we have to realize that millions of people did not vote for Obama based on his past performance, his record, or the fate of the country. I predict any euphoria over his victory will be short-lived.

The take on the speeches last night was right on. Unfortunately, no one on the left notices or cares. They are also thinking I/me/mine. This article expresses everything I have been thinking for the past 10 hours. Especially the part about Christie. It is going to be an interesting 4 years. The country gets what it deserves. Unfortunately, many of us will be collateral damage. I'm not proud of my thoughts this morning. Part of me hopes that the Jeep plant in Ohio shuts down as the one in China becomes lucrative. My motto: Put the pain where the problem is.

Enough of the old rich white guys leading the parade. It's time for some young, smart, charismatic guys and gals on our side to step up. Senator Rubio, I'm talking to you. I'm depressed today, but I'll bounce back ready to fight another day. In fact, I just heard Sabato say the GOP will do very well in 2014. Always look on the bright side of life ...

I am disappointed too. But I am also encouraged. I have a terrific family. Beautiful wife and 2 beautiful children that are healthy and are being educated in one of the best private Christian schools in our city. I am self-employed and make a lot of money. We will be able to keep the lifestyle that we have enjoyed. We will still be faithful to God and will still tithe to His church. So life for us will continue to be great and we trust that God will reward our faithfulness. I hope that the people that put their trust in obama get what they deserve. When I see a college student that is still living at home because he is working for minimum wage I will ask him who he voted for. And when he tells me obama I will ridicule him. When Gov't workers complain about their meager 1% raise - same. Suck on it!

Want to make a Democrat mad today? Remind him or her that the great Obama got 2 million fewer votes in his reelection bid than George Bush.

President Obama was on again Monday about gun laws, not enforcing the existing ones. But getting some new ones, any new ones so he can claim some kind of political victory after all of the promises and vows he made in the emotional days last December. But Obama wasn´t working on the senators from his own party who will actually determine the fate of these measures. That would be political leadership. No, Obama was out of town again, up in Hartford for a photo op with Connecticut legislators and some Newtown families.

It´s a good thing this column is available online, so that residents of Memphis, New Orleans and Riverside, California can learn how unsafe their city is without having to venture outside. Those are the bottom three metropolitan areas where residents said they felt least safe walking alone at night in their neighborhood. From the safety of their little work cubicles somewhere, the number gnomes over at the Gallup organization have been accumulating data on perceived human well-being as part of their polling calls on many subjects. From that data comes the 50 most and least safe cities.

Hi I’m Kansas Governor Sam Brownback. A week ago nearly a third of the world’s population celebrated Easter, the resurrection of Jesus. New life. Well, we need new life in our nation and economy. Washington is broke. Big spending programs are running out of money and change is coming. The ideas on how to fix the federal government are now percolating in the states, 30 of which are led by Republican governors. You see, you don’t change America by changing Washington. With video.

Hi, everybody. Our top priority as a nation, and my top priority as President, must be doing everything we can to reignite the engine of America’s growth: a rising, thriving middle class. That’s our North Star. That must drive every decision we make. Now, yesterday, we learned that our businesses created 95,000 new jobs last month. That’s about 500,000 new jobs this year, and nearly 6.5 million new jobs over the past three years. But we’ve got more work to do.

In a swift and strange reversal, Obama administration officials Thursday rushed to play down their own recent announcements of defensive U.S. military movements in response to threats and provocations from North Korea. The hereditary Communist dictatorship of the Kim family that took over the North after World War II has always been quirky, unpredictable and, well, mentally unbalanced by any modern governing standards. The country would be cinematically comical and worthy of a Peter Sellers role were the rogue regime not actively developing nuclear weapons and long-distance missiles to deliver or orbit them.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz has called for the complete legislative repeal of ObamaCare and its replacement by comprehensive healthcare reforms that actually increase patient choice, decrease the role of government bureaucrats and disconnect health insurance from employment. "If you lose your job," Cruz said, "you don´t lose your house, life or car insurance. They go with you wherever you go." It should be the same for health insurance. In a wide-ranging exclusive interview with IBD´s weekly M&M podcast, the Texas freshman said, "Our first priority is repealing ObamaCare and repealing it in its entirety.”

Remember how since-demoted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said we´d have to pass the massive ObamaCare health law to find out what´s in it? Well, now three years later that´s happening and a lot of people are not liking what they see. Remember how ObamaCare was going to save you money? Not going to happen. Premiums are going up, some by as much as 100%. And a new study by the nonpartisan Society of Actuaries finds that on average insurers will have to pay 32% more for claims under ObamaCare.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.
