Obama or Romney - neither should
expect to get much done in the Congress

As if the economy weren’t problem enough, America’s broken and hostile political system will seriously impede the actions of whoever is elected president. After four years in the White House, Barack Obama is going grey fast. [Snip] But his wife believes that the stress of high office is to blame. “Every day, I see Barack make choices he knows will affect every American family,” Michelle wrote in an email to supporters. “That’s no small task for anyone--and more proof that he’s earning every last one of those grey hairs.” At the moment, Mitt Romney has an admirably dark head of hair,

What do people want done? Another trillion dollar stimulus that pays off Unions and Cronies? Nationalize the oil industry?

Congress does not solve problems. It makes them worse. So, the less they do the better.

Obama has already demonstrated that he doesn't need Congress. He will simply do what he wants either by executive order, regulations (eg. EPA & Dept. of Homeland Security), or by fiat. Who is going to stop him?

Obama doesn't give a flip about Congress. Bernanke prints all the money he needs and he rules by executive order.

Michelle will get her many expensive lavish, and luxurious vacations to all the exotic places her little heart desires. She will take all her family and friends with her. She feels entitled to spend the taxpayers' money. 0bama will continue to enjoy his many hours on the golf course. 0bama and Michelle do not like each other, she will travel alone, he will have his male friends. Nothing will get done. There will be no budget; the spending will continue at an exponential pace, and 0bama will keep printing dollars making everything much more expensive.

I can suggest at least one difference in the governance that Obama will provide and that Romney would have provided. Romney was committed to working with congress while Obama has learned it's a lot easier to manage the country with tzars and executive orders

Thousands of runners observed a 30-second silence before the start of the London Marathon today, a show of solidarity with those affected by the bombings in Boston and a gesture of defiance to those who try to break the human spirit. Amid heightened security, runners and spectators showed up in force for the greatest event of its type in the world. The Metropolitan Police drafted 800 police to bolster security along the route, bringing the total to 2,000, a 40 per cent increase on last year´s event. An estimated 36,000 fun-runners, athletes and fundraisers paid their respects to those

Like kittens and libraries, marathons are intrinsically benevolent. They raise funds for charities, provide a day out for families, and present athletes a demanding challenge. Beyond the frontrunners, the race isn’t even especially competitive, since most amateurs are attempting to beat only their own personal bests. Thus the double pressure-cooker bombing of the Boston marathon on Monday was perfectly designed to garner no sympathy whatsoever. It was contrived to be as appalling as possible in order to draw just the scale of outraged international coverage that the carnage has duly received. Of every stripe, terrorists eat denunciation for breakfast.

One of the brothers suspected of the Boston Marathon bombings had direct contact with Chechen terrorists--and was ‘monitored’ by investigators for five years. The Mail on Sunday has learned that the FBI put Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, under surveillance after receiving an explicit warning from the Russian intelligence services. But despite apparently telling his mother that Tamerlan was an ‘extremist’ leader, the FBI eventually discounted the possibility that he was a threat. Tamerlan was shot dead by police early on Friday while his 19-year-old brother Dzhokhar was captured alive but seriously injured with neck and leg injuries on Friday night.

Sorry to use cliches, but two sayings spring to mind: fiddling while Rome burns, and re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Federal law enforcement officials are actively investigating the possibility that the Boston bombers were known to the government’s terror-trackers, MailOnline understands. CBS News reported Friday evening that two years ago, the FBI interviewed the elder brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, who was killed in Thursday night´s dramatic shootout. So once again, no good deed goes unpunished. Uncle Sam lets another bunch of leeching future terrorists into the country who have absolutely no business being here, gives them “asylum,” making them immediately eligible for welfare, and this is the thanks we get? They turn into mass murderers. We bring in thousands of Muslims from a primitive society that has been battling Christians for centuries, and put them into a peaceful Christian society — what could possible go wrong? This is what I was thinking about yesterday, with much of the city under what amounted to martial law.

Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people. But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.

Speaking Sunday on CBS’ ”Face the Nation,” Deval (deh-VAL’) Patrick said it’s hard to imagine why someone would deliberately harm, quote “innocent men, women and children in the way that these two fellows did.” Patrick also said law enforcers believe the immediate threat ended when the police killed one of the alleged terrorists and captured the other. The two men were brothers whose family had come to the U.S.
