| Welcome to the most anticipated Ldotter Thread since Hanging Chad night in 2000. Feel free to chat in a dignified way. Keep your tempers under control and should the best thing happen, let's celebrate together. It's been a long hard slog. We couldn't have done it without each other.

Something's wrong. I'm thinkin' thinkin' HOW can they really call such a massive election at 11:30pm? How can this be?
Now, i hear Rove is saying that as the R areas of Ohio are coming in, BO's lead is down to 900+... his 20,000 lead is down to 900 or so.
EVERY state must be checked and rechecked.
Something is stinky.

Some of use warned about nominating a RINO cult member to howls, jeers and derision. Now we are confronted with the possible ruination of this once great country. You Willard supporters will have to live with it right along with those of us who knew better.

Dont blame Romney, dont blame the media..its us (well not you and I per se)who elected O again. The American people will bear what this President does the next four years because we put him there. Take care, buy low in the stock market and be proud L-Dotters of who you are! Till the mid-terms, good night.

Post-mortem. My heart sank (1) when he picked Ryan (an accountant, for cripe's sake); and (2) when he made the campaign about the economy and nothing else. Note to Mitt: To the person on the street - the economy is not noticeably in the pits. Looks pretty normal. It may not be - but not enough to hand one's hat on and nothing else. (The yahoos are whooping it up in the streets here by the way).

It's over. But Karl Rove is saying it's not over. 20% of the votes still out in Ohio and 911 difference.
WOW.
When FOX got serious about reporting the numbers in Ohio it was also announced that there was voter fraud by two of the officials in Cincinnati.
WOW again.

#760 that is exactly what the house GOP should do... give the Dems everything they want and even pile on more for your district with earmarks. Give the majority idiots everything. The only way to effect change is for us to go through the same Greek tragedy.

For years my wife and I, both in our 40s, have had an exit plan. How we get move on with our life if and when the majority of our country demands a direction that conflicts so severely, so vehemently with what we see as reality. How we'd get that condo in that island nation for a smallish six figure investment, how we'd move to that Swiss canton and fund the elementary school...how we'd buy our way to life elsewhere.
And tonight, we've not given up that vision, that belief that this is the best country in the world, just that we have no interest in the long term future of the country should Obama get elected. That the system isn't going to get us where we want or need. That retirement is a joke for our generation, a hopeless cause. Thus our ties may be to look elsewhere. We're not disillusioned with our country, we're disillusioned with our electorate. There is no reason to put up with black panthers, with the media we've seen, with as good of a candidate and situation as we've had in many years...and this. This mess.
Our plan is revisited, our future re-examined. If...just if I wake up with more of biting my tongue, more hushed discussion when schoolchildren dedicate songs to their dear leader, when educated and formerly rational people take religious freedom from many. That's enough...tomorrow starts the end of the exit plan and the beginning of the exit action.

We get up in the morning, and move on.
Some of us saw great danger at 7PM, and were called "Eyores", when the EC math never added up, barring a miracle.
Obama will wear on the people by 2014, and Repubs will make some gains in the House and Senate. By 2016, Democrats overall will wear on the electorate, and Repubs will have a real chance to win the WH.
See Arthur Schlesinger, JR's, classic on the cycles of American politics. Every 25 years the American electorate changes allegiances.
This current cycle all began with the election of Bill Clinton: 1992 (the elections of Dubya were the exceptions, not the rule).
1992+25=2017.
By 2017, America's infatuation with the left will cease, and a return to the Right will occur.
If not, and Schlesinger Jr.'s previously correct theory does not hold true, then we are indeed a different country, and then lord help us.

This is what happens when you don't educate the public and completely abandon huge, huge blocks of the electorate. The Republicans will never win the presidency again until they are willing to stand up and liberals on every single front from race to media to socialism to gender issues.

Fox is now admitting that they called it too soon. One quarter of the vote has yet to be counted in Ohio and the vote is very close. Carl Rove chewed Fox out for manipulating the election and they are now calling some people down from the decision desk to explain themselves. One can always hope.

God help us all. Apart from the fact that our country will now be subjected to a continued cultural, economic, and international decline as the liberal agenda and mentality surges, we are also deprived of the incredible skill, honor, integrity and goodness of Mitt Romney as President. Romney wasn't just running against Obama was running against a full scale cultural shift, as would have been the case for ANY Republican Presidential candidate this year. Mitt gave it his very best shot, and we are honored to have supported him. Thank you Mitt, Ann, the Ryans and your families.

I really don't know what to say to anyone tonight. I just know it breaks my heart to see what has become of our nation... Laziness, sloth and greed.. People now vote for the individual who will give them the most bread and circus. Take a good look at the electoral map... That huge sea of red, being governed by the few who recieve their authority based on votes in those islands of blue. They take all they can from the people who live in the red areas for their own selfish needs, and to appease the lazy masses who live in the large city areas. And when they cannot get anymore, they intrude upon and probe into our lives to take more and more to satisfy the vanities of they who produce nothing, but consume everything.
I am angered and heart broken by what I see tonight. The America I once knew in years past, is becoming a fading memory. It never dawned upon me when I would see the day when bitterness and hatred would be a winning formula againsts true hope and optimism..
With the future so uncertain, I can only say God Speed my friends. Never run from the fight, and never give up.

I feel blessed that I was born in 1948 and was thus able to be an American during some of our finest years. But I am also ashamed that my children and grandchildren will never again know the America I knew as a younger man - confidant, proud, strong and optimistic. As they say, the takers now outnumber the makers and America is on a downhill course that I fear we cannot stop. The barbarians are inside the gates now.

God is in this -- He has not forsaken us. Think about these facts:
GW let Clinton slide on his crimes when he took office. Mitt probably would have done the same for Barak. Now Barak faces a GOP-controlled congress who will make him face Benghazi. 2014 will be a B* for the Dems by that time in congress.
The sleeping giant that never votes (60% of us) may just wake up for the next election, when our dollar has fallen & our middle class can't support the handouts anymore.
Obamacare will show itself for what it really is: socialist medicine run by the ineptitude of the Federal Government.
Our representatives will continue to fight the guy at the top -- and we need to put extreme pressure on them (visa vis the Tea Party) to block liberal SC Justice nominations.
Our GOP had better rebuild itself from the bottom up & give us a True Conservative next time. P.S. For those of us who said here that a moderate couldn't win (in example McCain): WE TOLD YOU SO.

Four years from now when many of our millionaires and billionaires have up and left with their money and businesses it may really come to pass: when there are too many takers and too few workers. My kids and their kids will still be here but I will be long gone. And in my new life I will be looking out for them by finding opportunities when they decide to leave. I came here in 1975 having lived in Europe and the Far East, and I found here the most wonderful people. What our government is doing to them is harmful and cruel. Americans deserve better.

We've got 18-24 months before the whole sorry system collapses.
Convert money assets into precious metals, esp. easily traded gold coins and "trash" American silver coins (for small purchases).
Buy a house in a small self-sufficient, preferably church affliated community far from major metropolitian areas and southern border states
Consider becoming a Mormon. They take care of their own.
Stock your house well, learn a practical skill, something like small gas engine or refrigeration repair, animal butchery, beekeeping.
The Darkness to come will last a minimum hundred years so pass your copies of the Constitution, The Rights of Man, Adam Smith and Ayn Rand down to the brightest of your offspring. They will need them to begin the second renaissance.
Good luck!

''Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded - here and there, now and then - are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as 'bad luck.'''-- Robert A. Heinlein

Thank you #864. As disgusted as I am by this outcome (barring a turn-around of some kind), I don't intend to feel sorry for myself or engage in all this navel-gazing. Thats what the other side does.
Take a day or two to absorb this and move on. We have no other choice.

I got over the drama 2004--I nearly collapsed when I thought that traitor Kerry won. We will survive. We've got much bigger problems than Romney losing. At least 50% of the people in this country are blithering idiots. Romney winning wouldn't have changed that....very scary....but I've traveled a lot and noticed that most countries aren't any different--it's just that this was such a great country.....

The young people here don't understand what socialism is all about. We have all these social programs that people have become addicted to. So what do you expect? They expect free stuff, not caring that someone else has to pay for it. Obama bought their votes and the media are his partners in crime.

I'm finally ready to post and say how profoundly sad I am. I just went upstairs, scooped up my sleeping 4 month old and wept. I apologized to her and told her how very hard we tried to save the country for her. I told her how sorry I was that she will not be able to get the best healthcare, that she will be burdened with debt and that she will never be able to get ahead. It broke my heart. Goodnight all. Lucianne, thank you for this thread.

Let's truly thank Romney and team for their terrific effort. They really did wonderfully, as well as anyone could. I am so proud of their courage and the terrific effort they made. And now all of Obama's postponed issues re-emerge: Fiscal cliff, Obamacare tax, other Obamacare hidden provisions, fight with Catholic bishops, Benghazigate, the inevitable discovery that AQ is not after all on the run, war Iran/Israel, energy shortages and fuel poverty in the United States, global food insecurity due to stupid green ethanol, Keystone decision now to be made, fuel efficiency standards that will further damage the car industry, unemployment, the deficit, the insolvency of Soc Sec.

I'm shocked that the reality of this event hasn't elicited the fighting spirit I always thought some of ya'll had. Don't move out of the country or consign your fellow conservative Americans to the scrap heap. If we are now the minority, we need to adopt different tactics but we are not compelled to surrender because our candidate loses an election. I'm thinking John Paul Jones time.

I will tell my children to mark this day as the date in history when the "Stupids" outnumbered the rest of us. I so fear what we are looking at, but God is in control. Hunker down and brace self for a woeful four years. The only comfort I take is that now Obama owns it all, all the scandals, the bad economy and everything. Probably should start learning Chinese because they will own us now.

I've got to say, #864 has the right idea. Either we believe we control our destinies or we don't. Romney was not the Messiah any more than Obama was four years ago. They are men. We are men and women and we say we believe in taking care of ourselves, so let's do it. We fought a he** of a fight and our heads are bloody, but unbowed. Our eyes are still on the prize and we will survive. We have to hang together. As Mark Levin has pointed out so many times: the horrible policies and laws and regulations of this administration will affect all, not just the Republicans among us. When the shihite starts rolling downhill and your Dem friends ask how this happened: EDUCATE THEM! Goodnight my friends. We carry on tomorrow, in our house, in our country. I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying right here. I own this country, I pay taxes.

Concur #807 and #881. If this is correct, I'm terribly disappointed in our citizenry. A loss of faith more be to the point.
What we have concocted over the last 40 years in public education just came to fruition. What's the evidence you ask? We never believed anyone with a shady, unknown, and completely unqualified resume could rise to the highest office of the land. And yet, we voted for him in 2008.
And now, if the numbers are correct, here we are again in 2012. Proof that the last 40 years of liberal teachings has unhinged America.
Make sure you thank the first aging hippy you see.

The stupid vote, the abortion vote, the free stuff vote... negated out all the hard working American votes. Sorry if I just don't feel like pulling up my boot straps once again, looking at my hard working husband and knowing his career is over and his industry is destroyed.
I expect more cuts in the banking industry and after 10 mos with no work and taking a job where he makes 1/3 what he used to, I mean, really what's left for us.
Guess I have bucked up and trudged on so many years now that I am just tired of us supporting millions who go out of this world no bigger, no better, no more than when they came into it. The takers have won.
And Fox is practically giddy over calling it all. They really make me ill.

I have to admit I almost admire the cleverness of America's enemies. They don't care if Romney wins the popular vote, in fact that helps them get what they want which is a change in the electoral college. Since they can freely commit voter fraud and manipulation right out in the open, next time they will just change the popular vote. They knew which counties to work on and they worked them. Their candidates are open liars and cheats yet they win. We don't have a free or competent media and haven't had one for years, but shame on the RNC for not understanding who the players are and what their audience of low information voters wants. I was thinking we would become the new Argentina, now I'm thinking Cuba and ALL the horrors that follow. This forum probably has an expire date in the next 4 years, so I'll say thanks for the memories of wit and intelligence in a sea of willful ignorance.

Former Rep. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

There’s really no reason for the press to suggest that the recent slew of scandals involving the Obama administration — Benghazi, the AP phone-record seizure, the snooping in James Rosen’s e-mail, the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, and so on — are a confusing jumble. There is a very clear thread running through all of the administration’s actions: The U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya, Gregory Hicks, says that he was told not to speak to a member of Congress about Benghazi without a State Department lawyer present, that he received a phone call from Hillary Clinton’s

The controversy over the Obama administration’s response to the Benghazi attack last year began at a meeting over coffee on Capitol Hill three days after the assault. It was at this informal session with the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence that the ranking Democrat asked David H. Petraeus, who was CIA director at the time, to ensure that committee members did not inadvertently disclose classified information when talking to the news media about the attack. “We had some new members on the committee, and we knew the press would be very aggressive on this, so we didn’t want

In between all the political brush fires that have engulfed the White House in recent days, President Obama and wife Michelle Obama have still managed time for vacation planning. The nation’s first family is looking to cool their jets this summer at a house in Farm Neck on Martha’s Vineyard, according to the Boston Globe. Obama and his family are no stranger to Martha’s Vineyard, having made three previous summer visits to Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark. They skipped going there last summer, and their favorite Blue Heron Farm house might not be available anymore.
