Katrina was totally underwater making rescue efforts almost impossible. NY didn't have this problem they pretty much had dry ground to operate on and still failed.

I hate when I hear a republican attack Bush on Katrina when the locale did nothing in preparation as well as Bush calling the gov. to call up the nat guard and she ignored it. Katrina also had a levee problem which turned into a worse disaster.How are you supposed to rescue countless 1000,s of people with water up to your eyeballs. There's no reason relief supplies couldn't have been airdropped into Staten Island.Along with getting generators to gas stations.

A terrorist country or even Russia can look at this storm and figure out whereto attack to bring this country to it's knees.The electrical grid is absurdly outdated.

Did I read that those huge generators brought in for the marathon are still idle? Bloomberg may as well quit now, he is hated by the poor folks of Staten Island, those people he is supposed to be helping. And as for FEMA and the Red Cross, please. One is as inept as the other. And all the driveby media has been shilling for the RC....they have raised Millions for them. May as well burn those dollars because the victims of the storm will see little of that cash.

If FEMA had done such a great job, why are people in distress in NY and NJ?

Based on what I see, FEMA is much less responsive now than it was during Katrina. FEMA was hampered during Katrina by a mayor and governor who were both incompetent. That does not appear to be the problem this time, after all, obama showed up in his bomber jacket, that should have fixed things.

Of course FEMA has been a success. Haven't you all heard that Chris Christie got recognition from Bruce Springsteen?

Leading up to katrina, the Bush government pre-positioned IN NEW ORLEANS, food, water, medical supplies, equipment and personnel. They were forewarned of the storm, just not of the political party that was willing to sacrifice lives for political power.
New York suffered from a similar hurricane last year. Sort of a rehearsal for this one. They had days of warning to get ready. Seems as though the federal government (dem run)and the local government (dem run, bloomberg walks, talks and acts like a dem)dropped the ball. And I see white and black faces in the crowds of people asking for help. SOP for this government....people suffer.

The MSM and FOX had boots on the ground after Katrina. They stood around yelling and crying over the poor people of NO and the horrible conditions in the arena. They made up stories about death and rape. They blamed Bush for sending Katrina to wipe out the Black population. Now, after learning from Bush's experience, Obama goes to NJ and hugs a few people including Christy. He is a hero. Go figure!

First hand observance: Pitiful, disgraceful.

Liberals have built up government as the answer to everything. By doing so agencies such as FEMA are destined to fail in the eyes of the victims. These events are called natural disasters for a reason - they are disastrous to the victims no matter how well the government responds.

The best way to endure a natural disaster is to do your own planning. Liberals have discouraged such a mindset. How hard is it to keep a couple extra cases of water on hand? A couple of hundred well placed dollars can save a lot of hardship.

Christie just flushed himself down the political toilet.

Ask the people of New York that are dumpster diving for something to eat? or ask why they don't have electric power? Ask why their own mayor wouldn’t give a damn about them but wanted the PR of a marathon?

Ask the people of New Jersey who are freezing and flooded waiting for another storm to pile on? Ask about the massive oil spill that has been going on for two days without any help?

Applause, they should be prosecuted but they did make it possible for Obama to get his photo op.
