Nutter tried to get
NYC Marathon here

Philadelphia Inquirer, by Kathy Boccella

Original Article

Posted By:Calvinesq, 11/4/2012 8:35:53 PM

With the New York City Marathon canceled less than 24 hours before its scheduled start Sunday, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter reportedly had stepped in with an offer: all 40,000-plus runners could come to Philadelphia instead. George Hirsch, head of the New York Road Runners, which sponsors the run, said Nutter told him Philadelphia was ready to host the marathon Sunday if race participants could make it to the city, Runner's World reported Saturday. Hirsch replied that there wasn't enough time to do that. He described Nutter as having "sounded very sincere."

Heh. Kind of like District 12 vs. District 11.

When I read the headline, I thought Nutter was a description ... not someone's name. But after reading the article, it appears it may be a name and a description!

I've got some family who are part of Philadelphia's notoriously negative fandom. Can you imagine what Philly sports fans would be yelling at the hundreds of runners well off the lead? Lord knows what would be in the cups they'd offer runners!

Safer to move the race to Detroit.

Yeah, and let Chevrolet Volt sponsor the race. What better tribute to America's electric car owners than 15,000 people running the streets?

What fun it must be to be a journalist in Philadelphia and write headlines with that guy's name in it. They must have contests to see who could write the funniest.

Katheryn Deprill, 27, said Tuesday she felt "pure joy" when she met her biological mother for the first time Monday at an attorney´s office. And, after she learned the sad details of her conception and abandonment, she said she understood why her mom did what she did. "She is better than anything I could´ve ever imagined. Adams joined the university in 1993. He was an atheist at the time. By the year 2000, he had converted to Christianity and become an outspoken political conservative. He eventually wrote columns for Townhall.com.

Nearly six months after the disastrous launch of Healthcare.gov, with the website running smoothly and more than five million people signed up as open enrollment heads to a close, a new glitch has come to light: Incorrect poverty-level guidelines are automatically telling what could be tens of thousands of eligible people they do not qualify for subsidized insurance. The error in the federal marketplace primarily affects households with incomes just above the poverty line in states like Pennsylvania that have not expanded Medicaid. The mistake raises the price of their insurance by thousands of dollars, making insurance so unaffordable many

Playing classical music such as Beethoven and Mozart to young children boosts their concentration and self-discipline, a new study suggests. Youngsters also improve their general listening and social skills by being exposed to repertoires from composers including Ravel, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn. In addition, they are likely to appreciate a wider range of music in later years, according to a study from the Institute of Education, (IoE), University of London.

ANTIOCH, CA. - Police say a man with every intention of robbing a Wells Fargo Bank, entered that establishment on Monday morning and approached a bank teller. Without saying a word, the man took out a note and handed it to the teller. The only problem was...the teller couldn´t read the note. According to police, the teller was unable to decipher the handwriting and then contacted her manager for assistance. As the teller consulted with her manager, police say the suspect made a break for it, exiting the bank through the back door.

LOS ANGELES – Two-time Oscar-winning actress, political activist and philanthropist Jane Fonda came under fire Thursday after it was revealed that her Jane Fonda Foundation hasn’t made a single charitable donation in the past five years, even though it’s worth almost $800,000. According to federal tax filings obtained by FOX411 and first published on The Smoking Gun, the Atlanta-based organization – of which Fonda is listed as president and chairman of the board, but receives no monetary compensation – was founded in 2004 and spent its first two years giving away large sums of money. Now, as Brigham, 57, tries to regain his license, New Jersey prosecutors have submitted evidence that his sworn statement was yet another lie. They allege that not only did he stop carrying required liability insurance around 2006, but last month produced a phony insurance policy when forced to back up the statement.

Yesterday, in an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, President Obama addressed the problems caused by his incessantly-repeated pledge to the American public that “if you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.” As millions of Americans receive cancellation letters in the mail, however, that pledge looked increasingly strained. “I am sorry that they, you know, are finding themselves in this situation, based on assurances they got from me,” the President said last night. In the course of his interview, however, Mr. Obama made

If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.

What I do object to is that Bush is already being heralded as the obvious candidate, the man to whom the big money must and will flow.
