| Saturday at noon there will be gas rationing for passenger vehicles in 12 counties. Gov. Chris Christie signed an executive order today instituting gas rationing for the purchase of fuel by motorists in 12 counties. Calling the fuel supply a "shortage" that could endanger public health, safety and welfare, the rationing will take place in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, Monmouth, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties. The order restricts the sale of fuel for use in passenger cars depending upon whether their license ends in an even or odd number, the order said.

Hey Column Boy, how about signing an order to allow volunteers from other states help without joining a UNION. IMHO, he has revealed himself as a huge fraud.

WHY don't you ask your PAL OBAMA to mandate the evil oil companpy to bring more in? Oh, and by the way, when I went to Seton Hall Law, we learned to be true to our convictions. Sad to see you never learned that lesson. Must have been free ice cream day, and you were getting seconds.

Smart move. They did this in the gas shortage in the 1970's and it worked well. The problem with shortages is that everyone wants to top off their tank in case they can't get more. But the average tank is always half empty, so the panic just makes the shortage worse. By forbidding people to purchase gas every single day, he alleviates the problem.

I travel all over NJ on a daily basis. The southwest quadrant of the state, south of I-195 seems least impacted by the storm. Gas stations are open and no lines to be seen. The contrast with the damage to northern NJ is remarkable.

New Jersistan has always been a communist state and always will be. It is what the people desire. Get over it.
Krispy Kreme is just acting in the way an elected representative should act in accordance with the wishes of his voters.
Get a good conservative in NJ and you buck representative government. Conservatism is a minority in the people's republic of new jersistan.
I do admire how krispy kreme gets nutty with the press. He puts those half wits in their place.

How about getting some generators for the gas stations that can't pump the gas out of their tanks? Then how about getting more tanker trucks to come and park on a corner - charge $20 for a 5 gallon can of gas, and pump it right from the truck?
Get the military to do helo drops if they have to, of food, water and blankets for these poor people.
Then when this is finally cleared up, how about having the legislature look into ways gas stations can keep working during power outages, and ways to bury your electric lines?

I am going to cut Christie some slack here. His first obligation is to the citizens of NJ. Not the GOP or R/R. If that means making nice with Barky just to get things done, so be it. He is on record criticizing Barky's last 4 years so thats all we can expect from a GOP guv of a blue state.
Remember how the LA guv played games with Bush for political reasons when Katrina showed up ? Christy isn't doing that. He just wants help wherever he can find it. Its not like Mitt was going to carry NJ anyway so let this one go.

Christie could have stepped in and stopped the union thugs from sending the volunteer utility workers from Alabama away because the did not want to sign up to be in the union. That is not in the best interest of the residents of NJ.

Well, at least we all know that Governor Christie is not going to starve to death, bless him.
There are a lot of sick people and elderly and mothers without food and babies without formula and diabetics without insulin and no one has a toilet let alone toilet paper...
And think about all the people that are in pain and don't have water to take an aspirin they don't have - let alone morphine?
Still, the Governor's a big guy: well fed, that one.

There was no rationing in the 70s. There were price controls that caused shortages. It didn't work well.

Yashoda Gurung said she wanted her mother to have the baby. But Karnamaya Mongar was insistent: after 20 years living in tin-roofed huts in a Nepal refugee camp, with three children, and just four months in the United States in Woodbridge, Va., another baby would be too much. "She said, ´We´re just getting started here,´" Gurung testified today. So, about 16 weeks pregnant and rejected by two women´s clinics in Virginia and one in Washington, Mongar, Gurung and her mother-in-law, and Mongar´s brother Damber Ghalley headed for Philadelphia on Nov. 19, 2009 to the clinic of Kermit Gosnell.

Vice President Biden exaggerates when he waxes nostalgic about the “good old days” — a time when “everybody, including the NRA, thought background checks made sense.” Biden’s office says he was referring to the NRA’s support for background checks in the early 1990s and its stated support for expanding background checks to include gun shows in 1999. But vice president’s sentimental journey rides roughshod over the facts: •In 1991, the NRA endorsed legislation creating a national system of “instant background checks” as an alternative to a seven-day waiting period contained in the proposed

President Obama will meet with Sens. John McCain, Arizona Republican, and Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, on immigration reform Tuesday afternoon at the White House. The White House added the meeting to the president’s schedule hastily as the bipartisan group of senators known as the “Gang of Eight” delayed for a day a press conference about the introduction of their proposed immigration reform bill, largely due to the tragedy in Boston. On Monday, the White House said a plan by Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Republican, that would allow illegal immigrants to become citizens after

At least six are dead in Pakistan after a major earthquake hit the Iranian-Pakistan border region Tuesday, according to state-run Pakistan television. The U.S. Geological Survey put the preliminary magnitude of the earthquake at 7.8 and at a depth of nine miles, and Iran´s seismological center said it was centered near Saravan, a sparsely populated area about 26 miles from the Pakistani border. State-run Pakistan TV said at least six people were killed on its side of the border and at least 47 others were injured. Up to 1,000 mud homes were damaged, it added.

In the immediate aftermath of the tragic Newtown murders, Obama and His Media joined forces to exploit the deaths of innocent children for all it was worth -- with a series of laws that would have done absolutely nothing to stop the very crime they were exploiting. This naked political move to leverage the murder of innocents as an excuse to attack the National Rifle Association and gun owners who live predominantly in red states, is about as cynical and craven as it gets. According to Politico, though, all this soul selling is likely to come to nothing.

This week´s Mainstream Media Scream features "Today Show" hosts rewriting history to call Ronald Reagan liberal by today´s political standards. Co-host Willie Geist: "Three in four Americans today thought our country was better off in the ´80s than it is now. Three in four. ... If a presidential election were held today, according to this survey, 58 percent would vote for Ronald Reagan over President Barack Obama." Weatherman Al Roker: "But the interesting thing is a lot of people probably -- I mean Ronald Reagan probably would be seen almost liberally today as opposed to being a conservative."

LONDON- The chimes of Big Ben, one of London´s best-known landmarks, will be silenced during former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher´s funeral, officials say. John Bercow, speaker of the House of Commons, announced the plan Monday, The Guardian reported. He said silencing the clock, formally the Great Clock of Westminster, is a way for Parliament to show its respect. "I believe that there can be a profound dignity and deep respect expressed in and through silence and I´m sure that the house will agree," he said.

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.

In light of the explosions that have rocked Boston on Patriots’ Day, during the city’s annual marathon, NBC reporter Luke Russert took to Twitter to speculate that today’s horrific events could possibly be related to the 1993 government siege on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas — an incident often attached to conversations about “right-wing terrorism” and anti-government violence. “I was at Fenway Park w my dad and @mikebarnicle during Waco which was on Patriots Day in 1993.
