| While the NYC Marathon is still on for this Sunday, many (including runners who planned on participating) are hoping the city will cancel or postpone in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. But the city is moving full speed ahead. As we noted earlier, those urging the city to halt the run believe that the thousands of Marathon volunteers could direct their efforts towards post-Sandy relief and cleanup, (Snip) Considering all the volunteer help and NYPD attention that's already being diverted to the Marathon, the added sight of generators and food being channeled to the event is probably going to strike

I finally got home from Europe late last night. Plane was packed with European marathon runners - I was shocked that the marathon was going on amid all this suffering.
Meanwhile, many Americans could not get home for days because of full planes and are still stuck there. It is nice that NYC has a can do attitude towards getting back on its feet, but to divert resources while people are hurting so badly is just wrong and very elitist.

Those generators could have supplied 500 homes from what I heard. At least several gas stations.How they still don't have generators at gas stations is incredible but they have time to welcome idiots from Europe to run in a moving carnival.Why,because Bloomy needs the sponsors $350 million.

To do this when people in your own town are in a condition like they are is appalling! Police, generators, hotel rooms, food are all needed elsewhere. Sure this stuff is privately owned but the city has FEMA money to buy it from them. Cancel the race, buy the supplies and freaking re-schedule!

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

Fifty-five percent of those surveyed, per CBS News’ early exit polling released by radio station WKZO in Kalamazoo, Mich., said Obama’s handling of the storm was a minor factor in their vote or wasn’t a factor at all.
