The Iranian challenge to US interests and allies is the most pressing strategic issue for Washington in the Middle East. With the US election less than a week away, now is as good a time as any to look back on the Obama administration's Iran policy. President Obama has defined US interests narrowly, instead of viewing Iran through a broader regional prism. Over the last four years, the US has focused on diplomatic initiatives and negotiations over Tehran's nuclear program. Yet, as critical as the nuclear program is, it is but one component-albeit a central one-of Iran's broader regional project.

Why does everyone always assume that this administration has failed regarding it's Iran policy? I think they are doing exactly what they want, allowing a Muslim theocracy to build an atomic bomb. Obama is a Muslim at heart. It's time for everyone to take the blinders off.

THE Korean Peninsula is closer to military conflict than at any time since 1994. Beyond his wild rhetoric threatening nuclear war, the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un, has taken two of the most extreme actions open to him. He has decided to re-start his five megawatt nuclear reactor at Yongbyon. And he has banned South Koreans from entering the joint industrial zone in Kaesong which is responsible for much of the hard currency Pyongyang gets.Meanwhile, he is provoking tough reactions in Washington and Seoul. US Secretary of State John Kerry declared the US will not accept a nuclear-armed North Korea.

Today, America´s median approval stands at 41 percent, down from 49 percent during President Obama´s first year in office. On Jan. 29, I wrote a piece that described North Korea´s strategy as a combination of ferocious, weak and crazy. In the weeks since then, three events have exemplified each facet of that strategy. Pyongyang showed its ferocity Feb. 12, when it detonated a nuclear device underground. The country's only significant ally, China, voted against Pyongyang in the U.N. The New York Times recently reported that China apparently has agreed to take over the operations of a $200 million port it built for Pakistan in Gwadar, on the Indian Ocean close to the Iranian border and close to the entrance to the Persian Gulf. We´ll see if this actually happens. If it does, it will be geopolitically significant. To a greater degree than other Indian Ocean ports that China has either built, helped finance or upgraded, Gwadar is plagued by considerable security problems, as I found out during a visit there in 2008. It is in a remote region of Pakistan affected by Baloch separatism. And Baloch leaders I interviewed specifically threatened the building of a Chinese pipeline from Gwadar.

The majority of territory outside Tripoli has fallen under the control of armed militias that have refused to disarm. Violent campaigns along tribal and ideological lines have been waged by Libyans determined to settle old scores and influence the ongoing political transition. With Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez unable to attend the inauguration ceremony marking his sixth term of office, attention quickly shifted to whether the relevant constitutional clause granting presidential powers to the president of the National Assembly -- in this case Diosdado Cabello -- would be honored within 90 days. In a fanciful interpretation of the constitution, however, the Supreme Court decided otherwise. It granted Mr. Chavez the right to an indefinite absence and charged Vice President Nicolas Maduro with the task of governing Venezuela on Mr. Chavez´s behalf.

Governance in the United States is at a standoff. The crisis over the federal budget has led many people around the world to wonder if Americans haven´t lost their minds. Ultimately, as Winston Churchill infamously observed, they may be counted on to do the right thing after exhausting all other options. But this hardly is sound policy with every new vote in Congress. Maybe the latest crisis is symptomatic of a deeper and even more serious problem. The future of the United States - and the American experiment - seems bleak. The optimism for which Americans are known comes less readily.

Watertown, Mass.– A number of gun shots were fired near Franklin Street in Watertown Friday night and it was believed that suspect number 2 in the Boston Marathon bombings had been shot. FOX 25's Bob Ward reported that as many 30 shots were fired in the neighborhood. Ward reported that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the man known as suspect 2, was shot by police. It was not immediately known if Tsarnaev was killed. A bomb squad could be seen responding to the scene. A massive police presence was also in the area. So once again, no good deed goes unpunished. Uncle Sam lets another bunch of leeching future terrorists into the country who have absolutely no business being here, gives them “asylum,” making them immediately eligible for welfare, and this is the thanks we get? They turn into mass murderers. We bring in thousands of Muslims from a primitive society that has been battling Christians for centuries, and put them into a peaceful Christian society — what could possible go wrong? This is what I was thinking about yesterday, with much of the city under what amounted to martial law.

We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people.But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.
