How Far Obama Has Fallen

| So where are we? A softly catastrophic storm left us, in the Northeast, shocked at the depth and breadth of its power to destroy. Everyone who could be was hunkered down Monday waiting it out, and at first we hoped it might not be as bad as we'd been warned, because we'd all seen higher wind and harder rain. (Snip)It is a mystery why the president didn't second-guess himself more, doubt himself. Instead he kept going forward as if it were working. He doesn't do chastened. He didn't do what Bill Clinton learned to do

Reading this is like wading through a pool of used motor oil. Noonan pens a column like she's trying to take the assembly instructions of a Christmas toy and turn it into Gone With the Wind. Talk about a headache!

It's hard for me to read Noonan. I can't forget her theatrics in the run-up to the 2008 elections. She was among the worst of the twitterpated -- absolutely in love with a man of no accomplishment and bashing Palin in ways that were truly ugly.
That was surprising because Noonan's columns after the terrorist attacks on 9/11 were intelligent and heartfelt -- she wrote beautifully of the effect the terrorist acts had on the people of New York. In one column, she described praying the rosary on the subway while admiring the New Yorkers around her. How could a person go from that to supporting a Man of Mystery for the presidency?
With all due respect to the storm, local workers and governors are the key people in charge. The feds can be important in the $$ department -- most of the rest is showboating. Doesn't Noonan understand that? Chris Christie gave Obama a huge theater to perform and for that Christie expects New Jersey to get richly rewarded. He may be right. But the Benghazi debacle is far more indicative of Obama's unfitness for the presidency. Once again, Noonan misses the big picture.

She cites the stimulus bill and Obamacare as his two biggest mistakes, and the issues that led to his downhill slide, along with a blind and clueless confidence that precluded his understanding of what and who America really is. And according to Peggy, he overreached and had not yet gained America's trust.
All good observations.
It's much more than that, though, IMO. Obama is dangerous. Americans don't trust him-- not because he overreached, but because he is a liar and a fraud and millions of us sensed that from the get go. There was massive election fraud. There were white guilt voters who now regret voting their emotions. There was such manipulation, and so many fell for it. And riding on top of that false and chaotic mosh pit was Barack Hussein Obama, whose records to this day remain sealed.
We still don't know the guy. But he hasn't fallen. He's always been right where he is, an unmitigated fake.
America has just woken up and looked down at him and is seeing him for the phony user he is. And that, IMO, is the story.

Obama has not ''fallen''; people are just realizing what he truly is. Journalists knew all along what he is but denied it for four years in order to give cover to their collective agenda.
I do not understand why everyone is so surprised by The Won; he told us that he wanted to ''fundamentally change America'' and he has.

"It is a mystery why the president didn't second-guess himself more, doubt himself. Instead he kept going forward as if it were working.
"He doesn't do chastened. He didn't do what Bill Clinton learned to do, after he took a drubbing in 1994: change course and prosper."
She gets most of the dots - but she has a hard time connecting them. If she connected them there would be no mystery as to why Obama behaves the way he does. Plenty of people spotted and called it right out of the gate. They were right.
Obama is a pathological narcissist with an inflated image of himself that can almost be described as delusions of grandeur. He actually thinks he knows it all. This makes him incapable of change and growth. He is exactly the same as he was the day he took office. He has learned nothing, changed nothing, adjusted nothing. How can one learn if one knows everything already? How can one adjust and adapt to reality if one is never wrong? Obama and people like him can no more alter their course than can a stone that is thrown. All other people can do is try to duck and get out of the way.
Heraclitus said that character is destiny. Obama, perhaps through no fault of his own, has bad character. He can no more change his character than the leopard can change his spots. He is stuck with it and the destiny it imposes upon him. We, however, are not. We can relieve ourselves of the burdens and damaging consequences of his bad character. We had better do so decisively next week if we know what is good for us.

More than 50 people died and that is "softly catastrophic"? What is a hard catastrophe? Another full blown 9-11? She has become an elite and when the non Manhattan little people die it's no big deal to her. That is disgusting and no wonder she didn't mention Benghazi that is less than softly catastrophic in her upper West Side cocoon.

VERY well said #11. BO is not capable of growth. As more information comes out about his background it becomes clear that he stopped development in his teens and from that point simply sought out HOW to implement what he wanted to do. He never questions his philosophy or goals. He modifies his message to entice or befuddle or threaten but never his end game plan. That's why all his "promises" for a second term are worthless. We will only get more of the same because that is what he wants to do and all he is capable of delivering.
It is a quintessential liberal attitude. If at first you don't succeed, spend more and work harder at it. The goal is NEVER questioned.
And the fact that Peggy STILL doesn't get this shows that she is clueless.

I agree with #5..she tried to fit in with her hip contemps by bashing Palin. But more than that, if you are an affirmative action figure, spurred on with your mediocre performance through all of your life to be told by others that you are, infact superior, you develop that sense. Kind of like lining up to play the "little sisters of the poor" every friday night and at the end of he season believing that you are the reincarnation of the 70's Steelers....when you really aren't very good at all...in the end history will judge him a joke...people will end up laughing at him..in public..he will become a bad punchline....

I have avoided reading anything Noonan since the days she began loudly applauding this man who was elected our president solely on the basis of his skin color.
However, I was curious as to how she would now react about that same man, one who betrayed his country by ignoring pleas of help from Benghazi. ... She never mentioned it. ... So, Peggy still wears the blinders, as she attempts to balance on the fence of political preference.
Why am I not surprised ...

From the article: "He [Obama] had the confidence without the full capability".
Then why did you support him in the first place? People can be (sort of) forgiven for not seeing what would happen during his term in office. However, people cannot be forgiven for expecting him to behave like an experienced leader when nothing in his past demonstrated that he had that capability. It was clear even to the most daft individuals that even if you agreed with Obama politically (with all of his Leftism and Marxism in his background), he nonetheless couldn't execute on his promises. Noonan acts like she was above the fray, but she was one of the leading cheerleaders for this mess of a President. The column that needs to be written by her should be titled, "Why I was so stupid to believe airy rhetoric wrapped in a baritone voice when it was clear I threw reason--and our country--into the trashcan".

Ms. Noonan writes of Obama as though he possessed the ability to do the things he said he would do; as though his spectacular failure is merely a result of circumstance and timing. He has never had the capacity to succeed, by his own ability and merit, at any endeavor. He's never had any aptitude for leadership.
Oh, wait. I'm wrong. He has run a successful confidence game, and Ms. Noonan, among many, has been and continues to be an easy mark.

It was never meant to be anything more than an inside joke shared by the beloved family of Antonia “Toni” Larroux, who died last week after suffering a stroke. Her tongue-in-cheek obituary was only supposed to appear in local Mississippi newspapers’ print and online editions. But it ended up — through a long and complicated series of events — being posted Saturday in its entirety on The New York Times’ website. And then it appeared seemingly everywhere. “It’s just been a really, really neat thing,” her son, Jean Larroux III, told The Daily News. Much of the obituary was farce,

BOSTON -- Despite more than 100 offers, a Massachusetts funeral director is striking out in his search for a burial location for the body of a Boston Marathon bombing suspect who was killed in a gun battle with police. On Monday, Worcester funeral home director Peter Stefan said he´d received 120 burial offers from the United States and Canada for the body of Tamerlan Tsarnaev. But he said when he talked to officials in the cities and towns where the graves are located, nobody wanted the body there. Tsarnaev´s mother said she wants her son´s remains returned to Russia.

UMass/Dartmouth officials continue to stonewall on the issue of releasing information on the records of four students now in custody in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing. The taxpayers, whose hard-earned dollars keep the place in business, should be outraged. “We are prohibited from releasing such records by [the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act],” insisted school spokesman John Hoey. “Our interpretation of the law indicates that that information is confidential.” Note that little “our interpretation” caveat. As a naturalized citizen, accused Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was eligible both for reduced in-state tuition and for student aid —

Via BuzzFeed, here’s the latest in tolerance from last night’s Piers Morgan show. Mitt Romney spoke at a commencement for Southern Virginia University, whose student body is 92% Mormon, according to Hunter Schwartz, and Romney used his speech to talk about traditional Mormon pro-family values — or really, generic Christian family values. For quoting Psalms — by the way, an Old Testament book common to all Christians and Jews — the panel laughs Romney out of the room as a “religious fanatic”:(Snip for video)The NIV has this as “children,” while the Ignatius Catholic version uses “sons” instead.

We can be judged in many ways. One measure of a civilization’s morality is how it treats those without power. Pope John Paul II once said, “a society will be judged on the basis of how it treats its weakest members; and among the most vulnerable are surely the unborn and the dying.” As I write these words 7 women and 5 men are deliberating the fate of a man accused of killing our country’s most weak and most vulnerable. When it first became clear that the CIA’s Benghazi talking points had been altered, many of us viewed the White House as the prime suspect. After all, it served President Obama’s political purposes to claim, at the height of a political campaign in which he was taking credit for the fall of al Qaeda, that the death of a U.S. ambassador was down to spontaneous outrage over a video, rather than pre-planned terrorism. It turns out, however, that the State Department was the prime culprit. It was State that pushed back hard against the original talking points.

Republican lawmakers, who have spent months seeking to tie President Obama to last year’s deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, are increasingly focusing their probe on a new target: former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. The GOP-led investigation of the Sept. 11, 2012, assaults that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others now centers heavily on the State Department and whether officials there deliberately misled the public about the nature of the assault. Three State Department officials are scheduled to testify before a House committee on Wednesday about the Benghazi attack and its aftermath.

Sanford defeated Colbert Busch 54 percent to 45 percent, according to full unofficial results. Turnout was heavier than expected, with about 32 percent of the district’s 455,702 registered voters casting ballots. Sanford, who has never lost an election, returns to the 1st District seat he held for three terms from 1995-2001. There was tragic incompetence, plainly, in the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi attacks, and even possibly some political calculation. It is a record that may well come to haunt Hillary Clinton, the first Secretary of State to lose an ambassador in the field in more than three decades, if she runs for president in 2016. But the obvious Republican effort to turn this inquiry into the Democratic (Obama) version of the Iraq intelligence scandal that has tarred the GOP since the George W.
