First in a sprawling series on Fox News’s Oct. 26 Benghazi story. It happens now and again in the world of news. An organization comes up with a stunning news report, and other outlets decline to follow up on the news. They just stay quiet. A number of scenarios are possible: (Snip) Last Friday, Fox News came up with a conversation-driver. A piece under the byline of reporter Jennifer Griffin opened with these revelations: Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex
Comments: This in interesting and at an unusual source, but it is impossible to grasp from the headline and the intro alone. Reading is recommended. It's not long.
Everybody knows the score by now. The American news media, Fox excepted, have long since been Barack Obama's Praetorian guard, whose function is to protect him at all costs - even if it means sacrificing themselves. They elected him. They own him. It is too late for them to back out now, much as some would probably like to do. Better, they think, to wade on to the other shore than to go back. And they have shown remarkable, in fact uncanny discipline, determination and ingenuity in shielding and propping him up until now. They have done a fantastic job of misrepresenting Barack Obama, misleading the American public and shielding him from the slightest criticism.
...they will do anything for love, but they can't do this. That is, they cannot save him from Benghazi. This is the Big One, the Bunker Buster. They have tried to protect him with all the resources at their command, but the truth keeps coming out as more leaks keep springing in all directions. There are not enough journalists and investigative reporters, i.e. reporters who work to discover discrediting information about leakers and Obama critics, to plug all the leaks. Like it or not -and we may be sure they do not like it at all- the mainstream(!) media is going to have to join the posse on this one. It has all the signs of being a tsunami that will wash Obama and his cronies -including those awful Clintons and their camp followers- out of office for good.
Sorry #1 but what is preventing reporters from reporting on this without Mitt bringing up. The first time he mentions it all those who are ignoring the story will be screaming that Mitt is politicizing a tragedy. No, he should stay focused on the economy and jobs.
The enemedia is sleeping, saving up their energy to deal with the possibility that their hated enemy, Mitt Romney may win the election in spite of the best efforts of the dead in Chicago and other Democrat assets.
We can be sure that the enemedia will be going all out to put a Romney Presidency under the microscope, and will no doubt need all the energy they can muster.
It is not Romney's place to raise this. That would be a sign that he didn't think he could win on the issues that he has been pressing since he first started his campaign. It would, if anything, raise Obama's 'sympathy' vote, because there is not enough time to actually get into the the issue. The LSM would NOT be forced to investigate, they would use the fact that Romney raised what they would call a 'nutty conspiracy theory' at the end of the campaign - which they would crow is a sign of Romney's desperation.
I have been following this story (on Fox, of course) since it first broke. My indignation and fury has built with each new revelation. It's not precisely the same thing, but I spent most of my adult life as a police officer, and you never leave your people hanging. I remember many white knuckle drives at 110 mph because a fellow officer was in trouble and needed assistance. It's what you do.
As near as I can determine, in Benghazi, the fact that people were in trouble was over ridden by ideological and political motives - and the fact that the MSM is willing to ignore the story for similar reasons - only serves to rub salt in the wound!
If the media thought investigations into Benghazi would make barry look good they would be investigating & reporting the story. They KNOW this is a screw up of massive proportions which highlights the fact that barry is an incompetent liar therefore they're ignoring the story as if barry's election depends on it.
As far as it being Mitt's responsibility, I say pfffffffft. If Mitt talked about it he would become the story, he would be ridiculed for politicizing the tragedy. We all saw how the media pounced after he made the statement the day after the attacks. The media hounded him for almost a week, reporting on what Romney said instead of investigating barry's dereliction of duty.
CARSON CITY, Nevada — O.J. Simpson has been granted parole on some charges stemming from his 2008 kidnapping and armed robbery convictions involving the holdup of two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel room. But the order doesn´t mean Simpson will be released any time soon. (Snip)But the order doesn´t mean Simpson will be leaving Lovelock Correctional Center. He was convicted on multiple charges and faces at least four more years in prison on sentences that were ordered to run consecutively.
WASHINGTON — The Obama administration on Wednesday released formerly classified documents outlining a once-secret program of the National Security Agency that is collecting records of all domestic phone calls in the United States, as top officials testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee. As the hearing began, The Guardian newspaper published another document from the archives of Top Secret surveillance matters leaked to it by the former N.S.A. contractor Edward J. Snowden. It was a 32-page presentation describing the N.S.A.´s XKeyscore program, by which N.S.A. analysts can mine vast databases of phone and Internet information the agency has vacuumed up.
The US government´s Inspectors General have been mighty busy lately. Whereas the IRS, DOJ and Benghazi scandals can all be succinctly summarized in a sentence or two, this latest emerging story cannot -- which is why it may lack the legs to really blow up. Nevertheless, a newly-revealed investigation by the Department of Homeland Security´s Inspector General may cause some heartburn for the Obama administration, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Virginia. (Snip) President Obama´s pick to become the second-highest official at DHS -- and who would run the department
"If you do a Google Search for ´Purple Lean´ or ´lean drink´ or ´lean drank´ it is sort of an urban kind of drug. It´s known in some circles as poor man´s ecstasy or something like that," George Zimmerman´s attorney Mark O´Mara told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax. "The main ingredients are watermelon, Arizona watermelon juice, a hard candy … for sweetness, and then some type of either codeine tablets if you can get them or Coricidin D, Robitussin DM," he explained. "It´s an intoxicant and it´s a fairly significant one," O´Mara said.
Now that the Zimmerman criminal trial has concluded, much attention has focused on the prospects for Zimmerman seeking protection under Florida’s self-defense immunity statute from any possible civil action against him. Florida’s statute 776.032, is among the broader self-defense immunity statutes, in that it possesses all four qualities of an optimal statute of this type. (Snip) Fully 32 states provide some degree of limitation of liability for the individual who has genuinely acted in self-defense, but there is considerable variety in terms of the scope and manner of protection provided.
An extremely popular class of drugs taken by millions of people with acid reflux, heartburn, and GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), may raise the risk of heart disease and heart attack, according to a new study published in the current issue of Circulation, the journal of the American Heart Association (AHA). Research by John P. Cooke, clinical professor and chair of the department of cardiovascular sciences at Houston Methodist Hospital, found that stomach acid-suppressing proton pump inhibitors (brand names Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid) may cause blood vessels to constrict, reducing blood flow.
Shakespeare’s misunderstood line “let’s kill all the lawyers” can be viewed somewhat differently in this summer of the George Zimmerman trial, as attorneys crowd the airwaves, making their bids to become the next Nancy Grace. There might be a more unseemly, nauseating spectacle on TV than HLN — where it’s not uncommon to tune in and find a half-dozen so-called legal experts yelling at each other — but it’s hard to think of where. All the cable news networks have seized on the trial of Zimmerman, accused of murdering Florida teen Trayvon Martin, with its obvious racial
Be careful next time you change the kitty litter -- cat poop can carry a nefarious parasite that may be much more widespread than thought, researchers say. Cats in the United States release about 2.6 billion pounds (1.2 million metric tons) of feces into the environment every year. Cat dung carries the parasite Toxoplasma gondii, a single-celled organism that creates infectious agents called oocysts. These oocysts can infect pregnant women, causing congenital problems in the baby such as deafness, seizures, eye damage and mental retardation. The parasite also infects people with compromised immune systems, such as those with HIV/AIDS.
The medical and scientific evidence shows that Trayvon Martin was leaning over George Zimmerman when the neighborhood watch volunteer fired the fatal shot into the unarmed teenager’s chest, a forensic pathologist testified Tuesday. Dr. Vincent Di Maio, an expert testifying for the defense, gave a version of events that was consistent with the defense’s theory of the deadly confrontation between Zimmerman, 29, and Martin, 17, on Feb. 26, 2012, in Sanford, Fla. Zimmerman, charged with second-degree murder, maintains he shot Martin in self-defense after the teenager attacked him.
CAIRO – A banner screaming "Wake Up America" hung Thursday in Tahrir Square, the heart of the 2011 revolution and center of much of the latest unrest that has erupted across the capital this week. "Obama supports terrorism," says another massive sign -- again underscoring widespread anger and blame directed at the U.S. president as Egypt staggers through a troubled change of leadership.(Snip)The widespread perception rumbling through anti-Morsi crowds is that President Obama has been in bed with the Muslim Brotherhood, said Shadi Hamid, director of research for the Brookings Doha
JOHANNESBURG — Nelson Mandela is being kept alive by a breathing machine and faces "impending death," court documents show, as his family gravesite was restored Thursday. Mandela´s health is "perilous" and he is being kept alive by life support, according to documents filed in the court case that resulted in the remains of the former president´s three deceased children being reburied Thursday in their original graves. "The anticipation of his impending death is based on real and substantial grounds," the court filing said. "He's basically gone," said Charlene Smith, an authorized biographer of
British police said today they had begun their own investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, who vanished in Portugal six years ago at age three, saying they had new leads and had identified 38 potential suspects. Ms McCann went missing from her room at the Praia da Luz holiday resort in the Algarve on May 2007 while her parents were dining with friends at a nearby restaurant, leading to a global search that gripped the world’s media. “We continue to believe that there is a possibility that Madeleine is alive,” said Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood.
White House insiders say President Barack Obama is in “a funk” about what he sees as increasing stagnation and failures surrounding his second term and some worry that the President is becoming more distant and distracted. “He’s not the same Obama that came to the Oval Office after the 2008 elections,” a senior White House aided confided to friends in an email recently. “I’m worried.” Chicago Mayor and former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel tells friends that the Presidency has changed his longtime friend Obama and many of those changes are “not good.”
In warning about possible al Qaeda attacks against Americans overseas, U.S. officials may have provided too much detail about intercepted chatter and the source of the information, and that may make it more difficult to get such tips next time, former and current intelligence officials say.On Friday, the U.S. State Department issued a worldwide travel alert for Americans, citing an unspecified al Qaeda threat. The bulletin said that the highest threat levels are the Middle East and North Africa, “and possibly occurring in or emanating from the Arab Peninsula.”
Washington - President Barack Obama´s top national security advisers met at the White House on Saturday to discuss the potential threat of terrorist attacks that caused Washington and its allies to issue travel warnings and close embassies throughout the Middle East. Executive Director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns Mark Glaze gave some ambiguous and potentially dangerous self defense advice Friday on “Hardball.” Glaze, speaking in opposition to “Stand Your Ground” laws, said in a circumstance where someone “comes at you” with an axe handle one should attempt to either “talk,” “fight with your fists,” “run away,” or “deescalate the situation,” but not shoot the attacker: MARK GLAZE: Very often somebody will come at you. They might want to have a fistfight. They might come at you with an ax handle. CHRIS MATTHEWS: Would you consider the guy with the ax handle armed or not?
[Video] Rapper Jay Z appearing on HBO´s "Real Time" with Bill Maher says that the black community wants upward economic mobility rather than a stronger police presence. In a conversation with former Congressman Barney Frank about police tactics such as stop-and-frisk, Jay Z suggests the stagnant economy and wealth inequality could cause widespread social unrest: "The real problem is there´s no middle class, right? So the gap between the have and have-nots is getting wider and wider... It´s gonna be a problem that no amount of police can solve, because once you have that sort of oppression
Several skills that every kid once learned in school are going the way of the dodo in a hurry. Diagramming sentences is practically an extinct art, for example. Cursive handwriting and memorized multiplication tables look to be swiftly headed that way. Apparently, the next thing that kids will no longer need to learn is spelling and grammar. Sugata Mitra, a professor of educational technology at Newcastle University in northeast England, announced that traditional language rules are out of fashion, reports the Daily Mail. Kids don’t need to waste time on those things, see. State-of-the-art computers and mobile phones can make
Common sense tells me that cops don´t need a Taser or a shotgun to subdue a 95-year-old man. When John Wrana was a young man, fit and strong and fighting in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps, did he ever think he´d end this way? Just a few weeks shy of his 96th birthday, in need of a walker to move about, cops coming through the door of his retirement home with a Taser and a shotgun.
Not only should President Obama cancel a bilateral summit with "schoolyard bully" Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Sunday on "Face the Nation," but considering the country granted asylum to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, U.S. allies should try to move next month´s G-20 gathering from St. Petersburg. "President Putin´s behaving like a schoolyard bully, and in my experience, I´ve learned, unless you stand up to that bully, they ask for more and more and more," Schumer said. "He´s always going out of his way, President Putin is, to seem to poke us in
You don´t have to be gay or even Russian to feel the wrath of the Russian government´s homophobia. You could go to jail if you are "pro-gay," whatever that means. And that´s under just one of a growing number of hate-infused bills becoming law at a time when, as it happens, Russia is preparing to host the world in the next Winter Olympics. The perverse anti-gay legislation is inflaming an atmosphere of persistent intimidation and at times deadly violence against Russian gays and lesbians. The question now is: What should the rest of the world do?
I have a suggestion. How about an exhibit on Tawana Brawley? If the purpose of the new National Museum of African American History and Culture at the Smithsonian is to remember racial controversies, as the proposed Trayvon exhibit seems to confirm, then how about an honest look at the phenomenon of hate crime hoaxes? Particular attention should be paid to the role of the media in both the Trayvon and Tawana materials. Unquestionably, the media stirred up racial animus, and these incidents both contributed to raising racial tensions.
An odd dark vertical line that was observed in the sky over Florida earlier this week has left meteorologists puzzled. The shadowy apparition was spotted and photographed by Mike Weight at Honeymoon Island State Park near Dunedin, Florida, Wednesday. Weight was walking on the beach at around 12.30pm. The day was bright and sunny, but there were thunderheads forming to the east. ‘I was looking North when I observed what looked like a ray of dark light coming down from a small cloud to the surface of the Gulf about a half-mile away,’ the 73-year-old man wrote in an email
Police shot and killed an armed teen in the South Bronx early today after the suspect opened fire and refused to drop his gun, police said. Two rookie cops heard shots fired near East 151st Street and Courtlandt Avenue around 3 a.m. and ran in the direction of fire, police said. The uniformed officers saw Shaaliver Douse, 14, of the South Bronx, chasing another person through the streets, according to cops. Douse, who was arrested in May on attempted murder charges for shooting a 15-year-old, fired at the man running on East 151st Street this morning, police said.
