Fox News’s Benghazi bombshell:
Why haven’t other media followed?

Washington Post, by Eric Wemple

First in a sprawling series on Fox News’s Oct. 26 Benghazi story. It happens now and again in the world of news. An organization comes up with a stunning news report, and other outlets decline to follow up on the news. They just stay quiet. A number of scenarios are possible: (Snip) Last Friday, Fox News came up with a conversation-driver. A piece under the byline of reporter Jennifer Griffin opened with these revelations: Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex

This in interesting and at an unusual source, but it is impossible to grasp from the headline and the intro alone. Reading is recommended. It's not long.

MRC President Brent Bozell said it best:

“ABC, CBS, NBC, The Washington Post, and the New York Times are so vested in the re-election of Barack Obama that they are deliberately spiking this huge story. It’s sickening.”

Be sure to get those names into the tapestry, Madame DeFarge.

Everybody knows the score by now. The American news media, Fox excepted, have long since been Barack Obama's Praetorian guard, whose function is to protect him at all costs - even if it means sacrificing themselves. They elected him. They own him. It is too late for them to back out now, much as some would probably like to do. Better, they think, to wade on to the other shore than to go back. And they have shown remarkable, in fact uncanny discipline, determination and ingenuity in shielding and propping him up until now. They have done a fantastic job of misrepresenting Barack Obama, misleading the American public and shielding him from the slightest criticism.

But...

...they will do anything for love, but they can't do this. That is, they cannot save him from Benghazi. This is the Big One, the Bunker Buster. They have tried to protect him with all the resources at their command, but the truth keeps coming out as more leaks keep springing in all directions. There are not enough journalists and investigative reporters, i.e. reporters who work to discover discrediting information about leakers and Obama critics, to plug all the leaks. Like it or not -and we may be sure they do not like it at all- the mainstream(!) media is going to have to join the posse on this one. It has all the signs of being a tsunami that will wash Obama and his cronies -including those awful Clintons and their camp followers- out of office for good.

~~One thing is clear, however, and it’s that on-the-record denials from government sources have cooled top media outlets on the Fox reporting.~~

Now, things may begin to get interesting.

Because they have to protect Obama at all costs..Even if it means lying to the American people. There ARE lies of omission. Call it what it is, betrayal.

Sorry #1 but what is preventing reporters from reporting on this without Mitt bringing up. The first time he mentions it all those who are ignoring the story will be screaming that Mitt is politicizing a tragedy. No, he should stay focused on the economy and jobs.

The enemedia is sleeping, saving up their energy to deal with the possibility that their hated enemy, Mitt Romney may win the election in spite of the best efforts of the dead in Chicago and other Democrat assets.

We can be sure that the enemedia will be going all out to put a Romney Presidency under the microscope, and will no doubt need all the energy they can muster.

It is not Romney's place to raise this. That would be a sign that he didn't think he could win on the issues that he has been pressing since he first started his campaign. It would, if anything, raise Obama's 'sympathy' vote, because there is not enough time to actually get into the the issue. The LSM would NOT be forced to investigate, they would use the fact that Romney raised what they would call a 'nutty conspiracy theory' at the end of the campaign - which they would crow is a sign of Romney's desperation.

I have been following this story (on Fox, of course) since it first broke. My indignation and fury has built with each new revelation. It's not precisely the same thing, but I spent most of my adult life as a police officer, and you never leave your people hanging. I remember many white knuckle drives at 110 mph because a fellow officer was in trouble and needed assistance. It's what you do.

As near as I can determine, in Benghazi, the fact that people were in trouble was over ridden by ideological and political motives - and the fact that the MSM is willing to ignore the story for similar reasons - only serves to rub salt in the wound!

If the media thought investigations into Benghazi would make barry look good they would be investigating & reporting the story. They KNOW this is a screw up of massive proportions which highlights the fact that barry is an incompetent liar therefore they're ignoring the story as if barry's election depends on it.

As far as it being Mitt's responsibility, I say pfffffffft. If Mitt talked about it he would become the story, he would be ridiculed for politicizing the tragedy. We all saw how the media pounced after he made the statement the day after the attacks. The media hounded him for almost a week, reporting on what Romney said instead of investigating barry's dereliction of duty.

For two reasons, as it turns out. There is a plausible public-spirited argument against it and a venal interest group working to thwart it.

To put it plainly, the press briefing intending to indicate how President Barack Obama thinks about Israel on the eve of his trip here was a combination of fantasy and insult. It is likely that the Obama administration made such statements for show — to persuade the Arabic-speaking world that the United States is striving for peace, is not acting like a puppet (or should one say “ally”?) of Israel, and is using its influence to change Israeli policy even as it does nothing of the sort. When Benedict XVI was pope, the New York Times ran a scurrilous, distortion-infested campaign intended to link the former Joseph Ratzinger with the awful abuse scandals that have so harmed the Catholic Church. These pieces were manifestly dishonest and substance-free when you read them through. But the Times editors know most people don’t read the articles — they read the headlines and the first paragraph.
