When we drove home to Louisiana from Ohio three weeks after Katrina hit, most gas stations still had no power. It's been less than a week. I feel for these people.

It's like the 'Ghost of 1974' has returned.

Actually, #2, how will the Volts get re-charged if there's no power? Oh, yeah...

I live in Kansas, wouldn't live where this stuff happens. We do have tornados but they don't cause long gas lines and power outages aren't usually very long.

In hurricane country you should fill your car up before the storm hits while stations still have power. You should also stock up water for drinking and cooking.

They aren't living as Gaia insists. Blue States should ban gasoline;. The lines would vanish. And the seas would cease to rise.

And since they shut down all those nuclear power plants for the storm why restart them either?

It kind of reminds me of the 70s under Carter. Though the reasons are different, I hope it has the same affect on Obama's re-election campaign.

You should always fill your tank when it gets to half. That way you've got something if there's a disaster. Always have lots of water and classic bleach (none of that scented stuff) on hand. Canned goods, generator. That stuff.

My question is why these gas stations don't actually have generators that can keep the pumps running. I get running out of gas, but I don't get not being able to power the pumps.

We sat in line about two hours, on the border between NJ/NY. Did not see one Obama bumper sticker on any vehicle. No Obama signs on anyone's property. He is cooked!

People having to eat out of dumpsters is insane in this country.Hard for me to believe they can't get some prepacked food in there,especially knowing a week ahead this was going to hit.

And by the way, when you live in mountains of NJ like we do, it is hard to expect such problems from a hurricane, but so many trees blown down on power lines! Crazy!

First an attack on our Libyan consulate and the murder of our ambassador. Next, gas lines. It's 1979 all over again! Somewhere, Jimmah Carter is smiling, because he is about to be dethroned as the worst President in that last 50 years.

Perhaps Chris Christie could have mentioned to his new BBF that had Obama spend the stimulas billions on infrastructure instead of crony capitalism NJ and NY residents would not be in this mess they are in today.

These NE blue states collect massive amounts of tax money from their residents. They should have more than enough money in emergency funds saved to deal with this. Why the lack of planning, budgetary management and accountability? Because self-serving pols allowed to tap FEDERAL dollars. Stop that and you will have these dumbo libs voting very differently. Instead, just watch as public employees will use this to whine about their need for more "resources."

Here in SoCal, we'd gladly wait in line for hours to get gas for $3.49/gal.
