Why I'll Vote for Romney
Daily Beast, by David Frum

Original Article

Posted By:abuela10, 11/1/2012 2:08:19 PM

When President Obama took office in January 2009 the US was plunging downward into the worst recession since World War II. By summer 2009, the US had begun a weak but real recovery, which at last seems to be accelerating into an expansion that more and more Americans can feel. President Obama gave the order that killed Osama bin Laden. He ended the war in Iraq on acceptable terms. He is enforcing tightening sanctions against Iran, inspiring hopes of a peaceful end to that country's nuclear program.

He makes a very succinct case in this article. Gives Obama praise in some areas but Romney has the right leadership.

The tea party "selfish and stupid"? I think democrats spending us into financial oblivion is about as selfish and stupid as people can be. Frum seems to be hoping for a republican president turning his back on his constituents and principles and "reaching across the aisle". I think we have seen how that works. Democrats never compromise, but they demand it from their opponents. They are to be pushed aside like last weeks potato salad if we are to ever be great again.

Frum is a doofus and a hack and he thinks Obama did all the right things in his first term. He also thinks Obamacare will not ever go away...well, if we have anything to say about it, it will be the first thing to go! What a twit. Go away, Frum.

THIS "as for conservatives in the country - well, I've posted my thoughts elsewhere on that particular plunge into paranoia and extremism" tells you all you need to know about Frum.

Fiscal responsibility is extremism? Constitutional government is extremism? Getting government off the back of business is extremism? Limited government is extremism? I have news for you David, these principles were what the Country was founded on and for over 160 years, how it was run. Then the dems and FD(dopey)R started us on the path of progressivism and the Country has been oozing toward disaster since. BO just accelerated the process. Romney is simply talking about dialing back to pre-BO times. That's hardly extreme. I'd like to dial us back to the kind of government prior to FDR's explosion of government power.

So David, thanks for your vote but I hope Romney's presidency turns out to be NOTHING like you hope.

All Frum had to tell us was that Romney is better than Obama in any area you can name and let it go at that. But no, he had to tell us he is a horse's butt who still loves Obama. How is it these people get paid to spout their opinions?

FTA: the US was plunging downward into the worst recession since World War II.

Hasn't the "worst recession" meme been well-debunked?

FTA: By summer 2009, the US had begun a weak but real recovery, which at last seems to be accelerating into an expansion....

If GWB were President, Lefties would be screaming that less-than-maintenance-level-growth is in fact decline. But under Stinky, it's "recovery."

FTA: President Obama gave the order that killed Osama bin Laden.

Yeah, that idea had never occurred to GWB, anyone in CIA, or our military. It took Stinky to think it up.

FTA: He is enforcing tightening sanctions against Iran, inspiring hopes of a peaceful end to that country's nuclear [weapons] program.

Setting aside the fact that sanctions have never worked, we should remember that Stinky does have experiences in bringing a peaceful end to a nuclear weapons program -- ours. Of course, after he ends it, that peace might not be lasting.

FTA: President Obama got important things right in his first time, but he's heading the wrong way in his second: toward a future with a permanently larger state sector and much more government control over private decision-making. The United States needs to edge away from that future, and back toward a more market-oriented trajectory. I don't want to see Obamacare repealed.

Wait, wait, wait. Frum says he wants "less gov't," but wants the [at least] 1/6 of it that Obamacare confiscates to stay in the hands of gov't?

Yeah, well, the whole piece goes along in the same line, a mental muddle of self-contradiction. I guess one could save it for the weekend to [more than] even out any elation one might take from a big home-team win.

In the fall of 2010, the nasty midterms drawing to a close, Michelle Obama was contemplating her next move. Two years into her tenure as first lady, the breathless fixation on guest lists and china selections was subsiding into routine, and she wanted a plan for the rest of her husband’s time in office. Of course, her calendar would never lack for National Hostess duties—the obligatory social functions outlined in binders left by Laura Bush’s team. ALBANY — New York, whose status as the most populous state has long been ceded, will soon fall behind Florida into fourth place, a long-anticipated drop that is rife with symbolism and that could carry potentially serious economic consequences in coming years. When the Census Bureau releases its latest population estimates on Monday, demographers expect that Florida and New York will be narrowly separated — perhaps by as little as a few thousand people — and that if Florida does not pass New York this time, it almost certainly will do so in 2014. The census figures underscore immigration trends, as foreign-born migrants continue to

The Oscar-winning film director Charles Ferguson has cancelled his CNN documentary on Hillary Clinton after what he described as a private campaign against the film by prominent Democrats. Ferguson said he had decided to pull the plug after being met with a wall of silence from more than a hundred people who refused to be interviewed for the documentary. He claimed that aides to the former secretary of state put pressure on CNN behind the scenes, and made clear that Clinton would only co-operate "over my dead body".
