| The Obama administration declared a public health emergency for New York late Wednesday as the region reels from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. The Health and Human Services (HHS) Department has deployed teams of medical professionals from around the country to assist hurricane victims in New York and New Jersey, according to the announcement. The emergency declaration allows HHS to waive certain rules for Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries at states' request with the goal of ensuring continuous care throughout the crisis.

FTA: The move allows the healthcare system more flexibility in tending to crisis victims — permitting Medicare patients in New York to receive care at a nursing home without a prior three-day hospital stay, for example.
The announcement will also enable "alternate service locations" for federal health programs to be established quickly, HHS said.
Translation: Look for nursing homes to suddenly appear and charge nursing home prices for simple first aid. Billion will flow with no trace of who was treated for what by whom. The government always pays first and investigates after.

The newest member of the Bush family is Margaret Laura “Mila” Hager. The Bushes’ daughter Jenna Bush Hager — wife of Henry Hager — gave birth to the child Saturday at 8:43 p.m. in New York City. Mila was named for her grandmothers, the former president said in a statement. “Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild,” George W. Bush said.

One of the more bizarre memes propagated by the proabort left about the trial of Kermit Gosnell, who "faces 43 criminal counts, including eight counts of murder in the death of one patient, Karnamaya Monger, and seven newborn infants," is that Fox News has been almost as negligent in covering the story and the trial as the Big Three broadcast networks, and that conservative media in general have also mostly ignored the story. Through Monday evening, April 8, the Media Research Center´s Matt Philbin noted that Gosnell´s trial "has received exactly zero seconds of airtime on the broadcast networks."

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot.
