| Argentine lawmakers approved a bill lowering the country’s voting age, a move that could rally youth support as President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner tries to revert a slide in her popularity ahead of congressional elections next year. The lower house approved the bill in a 131-to-2 vote yesterday, converting Argentina into one of only a handful of nations where 16-year-olds can vote. The government-backed bill, which passed the Senate in early October, allows young people to cast ballots two years before voting becomes mandatory at age 18.

Comments: Wow. I'm actually surprised Obama didn't try this.
Just shows what happens when Socialists get really desperate.

obama already has the dead and illegals voting. If given a 2nd term, he will go down to 6 year olds (you think they have them brain-washed with those nutty songs for nothing?)

18-year-olds can barely think for themselves. 16-year-olds shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a ballot box. Argentina is looking to become a banana republic.

Voting should be lowered to 14 in the US. 14 is the legal age when you can legally work and pay taxes. If you can show that you pay taxes, then you should be able to vote. Otherwise, it is taxation without representation.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - A local church has elected to stop performing marriage ceremonies for straight couples until same-sex marriage is legalized. (snip) “Because the United Methodist Church prohibits its pastors from conducting same-sex weddings, excluding gay and lesbian couples from the holy sacrament of marriage, the Leadership Council has asked the pastor to refrain from conducting wedding ceremonies in our sanctuary for straight couples, until the denomination lifts its ban for same-sex couples.”

RALEIGH It took less than 10 minutes Saturday for Republican Pat McCrory to complete a journey he’d started years ago, from Charlotte City Hall to North Carolina’s governor’s mansion. With his left hand on two bibles, McCrory took the oath of office as the state’s 74th governor in a ceremony long on pomp but short in duration.

RALEIGH -- Republican Pat McCrory became North Carolina’s 74th governor Saturday in a brief, simple ceremony that nevertheless marked a major shift in political power in the state. It took only several minutes for McCrory, a 56-year year old former Charlotte mayor and former utility executive, to take the oath of office in the old Senate Chambers in the historic Capitol. The parade, balls, inaugural address and other celebrations surrounding a new governor will occur over the next week.

Fifteen minutes into Sunday’s service at St. Paul’s Baptist, before the sermon, the blessing of the babies, and the passing of the plate, Pastor Greg Moss issued an invitation to his predominantly black congregation: Those who had not yet voted could caravan with him to an uptown polling place after the final hymn. Then, after counseling the 2,000 or so worshipers to make up their own minds who to vote for, Moss revealed his own candidate of choice by unbuttoning his jacket to reveal the front of his T-shirt: “OMG. Obama’s My Guy.” The reaction: Cheers and a standing ovation.

A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York upheld a lower court’s decision that the city did not discriminate against Robert Jordan because the same standards were applied to everyone who took the test. “This kind of puts an official face on discrimination in America against people of a certain class,” Jordan said today from his Waterford home. “I maintain you have no more control

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.), the 2012 Republican vice presidential candidate, used to oppose adoption of children by homosexuals but now says it is okay for gays to adopt kids and that he would vote to support such a policy. The Catholic faith, which Ryan professes, teaches that such adoptions “are contrary to the divine plan” of God and Pope Francis has said that gay adoption is a form of discrimination against children. At a meeting with some of his constituents in Janesville, Wisc., on Apr. 29, Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, was asked about

Clocking in at nearly two hours, former President Bill Clinton gave the first in his new lecture series at Georgetown University yesterday in a speech that meandered from terrorism to public service. Clinton said this century “requires every thoughtful person to try to do some public good.” “Most people get in real trouble and abuse power when they forget that the purpose of their power is not to impose their will on others but to let other people be empowered to live their own lives better,” he said. “Or as I always say, have better stories.” He spent

All three network newscasts on Monday and Tuesday ignored the shocking assertions made by a whistleblower who told Fox News that special forces could have responded to the 2012 terrorist attack on Benghazi. He also claimed that the United States knows who perpetrated last year´s assault on the U.S. embassy. Fox News´s Adam Housley interviewed a man he described as a "special ops member who watched as the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi unfolded." On Tuesday´s Special Report, Housley claimed, "However, multiple sources tell Fox News that the U.S. has identified the mastermind of the Benghazi

According to an investigation by CNN reporters, three Yemeni members of Al Qaeda took part on the coordinated attack on an American consulate and a safe house in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11, 2012. “One senior U.S. law enforcement official told CNN that “three or four members of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula,” or AQAP, took part in the attack,” CNN reports. It is not clear what command structure may have ordered the Al Qaeda operatives to strike at American diplomatic assets in Benghazi, or if the individuals were already in the region and took advantage of the

President Obama did not start the Syrian crisis, and the blood-soaked civil war has never lent itself to easy choices. In fact, the choices have always been among the hardest any U.S. president has faced in the region. Syria is more than a country, and its civil war is more than a brutal and bloody story of a dictatorial regime pulverizing a largely defenseless civilian population. Syria sits at a strategic crossroads and has for decades been the conduit of cash and operational expertise linking meddlesome Iran to the east with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.

Next week, the Senate will begin making changes to and, hopefully, improve the immigration-reform legislation I introduced with several colleagues last month. This part of the process is a chance to fix America´s broken immigration system and end today´s de facto amnesty for those who live here illegally. It will also show that Washington can work when leaders listen to the American people and invoke their wisdom in debates and legislative work. In January, I outlined my principles for conservative immigration reform in these pages—principles that guided the drafting of this legislation.

When Republicans woke up to defeat on Election Day 2012, it was clear that they had been outfoxed and outmaneuvered by President Obama and his campaign. Now it´s clear why. Under the political radar, Team Obama made an unprecedented effort to understand the voters and speak their language, slicing and dicing the electorate with a sophistication and savvy that the Republicans couldn´t match and are still scrambling to replicate. The result was the rebuilding and in some cases expansion of Obama´s original coalition from 2008, and a remarkable comprehension of what really motivated voters in 2012.

Former Bush adviser and GOP strategist Karl Rove says Republicans have a good chance of taking the Senate from Democrats in 2014 if they avoid nominating the types of candidates who stumbled badly in once competitive 2012 races. “Republican success will depend on having quality Senate candidates,” Rove wrote in The Wall Street Journal on Thursday. “Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock self-destructed last fall, and other candidates squandered important opportunities.” Former Rep. Todd Aiken (R-Mo.) lost his Senate challenge to vulnerable incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) after controversial comments about “legitimate

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says the Tea Party is the main reason why things are not getting done in Congress and views it as a party of modern-day anarchists. Reid on Wednesday afternoon stood by comments he made on the Senate floor last week comparing Tea Party-affiliated Republicans to 19th century American anarchists. “I believe that, my experience with the Tea Party is that they are against government in any form. They throw monkey wrenches into the government,” Reid said during an interview on the Rusty Humphries Show.
