| Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) on Wednesday used Hurricane Sandy to promote his global warming agenda by urging Congress to hold hearings on the links between global warming and Hurricane Sandy during the lame-duck session of Congress after Tuesday's elections. Waxman, the top Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee who authored the cap-and-trade bill, wrote a letter to Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), the Committee's Chairman, on Wednesday encouraging him "seize this opportunity" to hold such hearings. “Hurricane Sandy is exactly the type of extreme weather event that climate scientists have said will become more frequent and

Comments: If they do in fact hold these sham hearings then Joe Bastardi should be called to testify that what is happening is cyclical weather changes. He has been on Fox many times in the last week and has been exceptional. Here is the link to his site if you are interested:

To follow the model set by the White House response to the Libya attack, we need to wait about eight weeks AFTER Sandy before we hold any hearings. Then we can assign a blue ribbon commission that reports back in a few years.
What? Mother nature needs to be investigated? But the lyin', thievin' Obama Administration doesn't?

As a meteorologist/climatolgist for 36 years now, all I can say is Joe is a real treasure. Glad his voice has media access. Of course, he's absolutely right. First of all, hurricane occurances have absolutely nothing to do with "climate change", whether naturally occuring or anthropogenic. In fact, we have been through several years of low hurricane activity recently. The fact that the one that did affect the US this year fell upon the most populated mid-Atlantic states is strictly an act of chance. These climate opportunists simply saw this high visiblity event to continue their money-making climate change rant. Despicable.

Someone, anyone, please. Take this off the deep end RAT somewhere and tape him to a chair, gag him, cut his nose hair, and then put him on a raft without a motor and send him on his way to cross the ocean without a motor. He has enough hot air to propel him that it shouldn't be a problem.

Every hurricane is terrible to the people that it hits. Hurricane Sandy was no different from any other hurricane in that respect.
By historical standards, Hurricane Sandy was a relatively minor hurricane (Category 1 when it made landfall). What made it so damaging was where it made landfall - a very high population area with a high density of oceanfront development.
It has been over seven years since a Category 3 or greater hurricane has made landfall in the U.S. This is the longest period of no major hurricanes since we began measuring them.
We are constantly told that the past 10 years of mild summers and hard winters is not evidence against Global Warming. We are also told that the seven year stretch with no major hurricanes is also no evidence against Global Warming. The fact that every Global Warming model ten years ago predicted annual increases in warming and annual increases in the rate and intensity of hurricanes is irrelevant.
And yet, every time there is a hurricane or any other extreme weather event (which we naturally have all the time somewhere in the world) it is immediately proclaimed as yet more proof of Global Warming.
It is almost certain that the next seven years will have more severe hurricanes than the last seven. It is simply the law of averages. It is also certain that every hurricane will be proclaimed as proof of Global Warming. It is simply the law of Global Warming politics.

I saw Joe Bastardi (who really should change his name) on Fox last night, and he demolished the global warming argument with historical facts. He could have, with enough time, also explained that the destruction over the century from storms has increased because stupid people want to build in flood/oceanfront areas, and stupid government created flood insurance so the rest of us could pay for their stupidity.

Absolutely incredible- Hurricanes have been around since - well, forever. And, one hits NY, a very rare occurrence, and suddenly, the Green Commies see an opportunity to revive their lies and strangle hold on our national energy situation which is on it's death bed now! The real investigation should be why Waxman et al are mooching up to the Saudis and Iranians for more importation of oil, making us ever more and more dependent for this critical resource from our swon enemies!

Of course, if the group of high-powered liberal billionaires and Democratic party fundraisers are successful in buying the Times, that’s just peachy with them. They are all totally oblivious to the riotous irony of opposing the purchase of a media outlet because they fear ideological contamination, while embracing a rival group’s effort to buy the paper who will ideologically contaminate the coverage anyway — except it happens to be an ideology with which they agree. That’s how to save “honest” news coverage in LA. HuffPo: As Tribune Co. emerges from a four-year bankruptcy, the predominantly Democratic

The intolerance of tolerance was a phrase I first heard from renowned theologian and seminary professor D.A. Carson. His book by the same name discusses the shift from defending the rights of those who hold different beliefs to affirming all beliefs as equally valid and correspondingly the lack of tolerance for any position that dares to suggest some positions are invalid or wrong. Chris Broussard found himself embroiled in such intolerant blowback when he took to ESPN and upheld orthodox Christian views of homosexuality and sexual sin in general. He did so after being prompted by the interviewer

It’s been seven months since the September 11 Benghazi, Libya attacks and there have been no arrests. The second of a three-part exclusive investigation digging into Benghazi aired on Special Report tonight. Multiple sources tell Fox News that the United States has identified the mastermind behind the attack, who is still in Libya and walks free. A special operator, whose identity was concealed for safety, watched the events unfold and spoke to Fox News’ Adam Housley. He chose to speak out because he’s frustrated with excuses, lies and lack of military response since Ambassador Chris Stevens

“Are you human?” Assistant District Attorney Ed Cameron asked Kermit Gosnell during closing arguments in the abortionist’s trial on Monday. Cameron noted that during the six-week trial, “Mr. McMahon (the defense attorney) kept asking the witnesses, are you human?” That question really should be asked of Gosnell, Cameron said, turning to look directly at the defendant: “Are you human?” he asked. Gosnell stared right back and laughed. “To med these women up, to stick scissors in babies necks -- he’s the one in this case that doesn’t deserve to be called human,” Cameron said.

The resolution, from Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and a dozen other Democrats, says the results of climate change include drought and reduced agricultural output. It says these changes can be particularly harmful for women. "[F]ood insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health,"
