| Right under the radar of news of Hurricane Sandy and the election itself, Hillary Clinton is in Algiers, trying to coax Algeria into a planned military action in Mali to hose out al Qaida's latest nest. The terrorists have taken over another country in Mali -- as they did with other failed states in Somalia and Afghanistan, but this one was probably preventable. Had the US not intervened as it did in Libya, leading from behind without much plan or intelligence, it's likely that the weapons from Gadhafi's arsensals

Mali is an ideal spot for Al Qaeda to take root. It is one of the poorest nations on earth. The country hasn't mattered much to anybody since the days of the salt caravans. If AQ brings money, they will win over the populace quickly.

icolas Maduro, political heir to the late Hugo Chavez, was declared the winner of Venezuela’s presidential election yesterday in a result that was immediately challenged by the opposition. The 50-year-old former bus driver received 50.7 percent of the votes, the national electoral council said after about 99 percent of ballots were counted. Henrique Capriles Radonski, who temporarily stepped down as governor of Miranda state to run, had 49.1 percent and vowed to contest the results. “We had a fair and constitutional victory,” Maduro said after the results were announced. “This is another victory, a homage to our comandante Hugo Chavez.”

CANCUN, Mexico - Six people were strangled to death and one decapitated in the southern Mexican tourist resort of Cancun on Sunday, the state´s deputy attorney general said, in the latest mass killing to strike the city in the last few weeks. Police found the bodies of the five men and two women in a shack in the outskirts of Cancun, a major tourist destination on Mexico´s Caribbean coast, that has largely escaped the drug-related violence that has racked Acapulco, a faded tourist destination on the Pacific coast.

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. Here is something I don’t understand: liberals are often revealed as vile, vulgar hatemongers–not all of them, of course, but far too many–yet they never seem to pay a penalty at the polls.
