| Mitt Romney‘s presidential campaign says it’s not harboring any hard feelings for Chris Christie after the New Jersey governor effusively praised President Barack Obama‘s response to Hurricane Sandy. “Gov. Christie is doing his job,” Romney senior adviser Russ Schriefer said during a Wednesday conference call. Schriefer’s comments were made in response to a question from a reporter asking if the campaign is “annoyed” by the Republican Christie’s positive words for a Democratic president.

It is very clear that Christie is planning for 2016 run. His speech at GOP and now this. He has no intention of helping Romney and our country, he is OK with Obama for next 4 years. It is his fat a..s he is concern and his presidential run in 2016.

The President is doing a reasonable job for once. It would be churlish to say otherwise.
If Mr. Obama's whole Presidency were this good, I wouldn't be a broken glass voter this time.

In a courtroom, such a question is known as argumentative, i.e. it is asked not for whatever answer it elicits, but in order to remind the jury of the circumstance underlying the question. That it was asked is simply more evidence of the highly partisan nature of the press.

Sorry, I have hard feelings. Chris is grandstanding and being obsequious to the dear leader for cash. Pandering to a politician who is facing an election in 5 days is a disgusting site to see. The stakes are too high for me to ever forgive the bloated churlish governor.

I am sure that the Obama campaign will include a "pals" picture of Obama and Christie to show how well he can work with the other party.
But, if Christie chooses to run for president in the future, that ad will be helpful to his opponents in the GOP primary.
Then again, he might run as a democrat.

Chris Christie is first and foremost governor of New Jersey. His number one priority is the welfare of the citizens of NJ. Cooperating and working with the President, no matter what the party, is his job in this type of emergency. Christie's a grown up. It doesn't mean he supports Obama.

He shouldn't. I dare someone to hold that against CC in 2016.
Narrator: "Chris Christie worked with a sitting Democrat President to help the people of his hurricane tricken state. How dare he put people and his responsibility as governor over politics! Is this the kind of man we want leading this country? A week earlier, he was very critical of that same president!"

Exactly WHAT has Obama offered for victims of the hurricane that would not be available had he NOT been President? Is he personally helping with the cleanup and restoration of power, or is he on his way to Las Vegas again? This is a state effort when all is said and done.

Mitt shouldn't touch it. As for 2016, hopefully Christie isn't stupid enough to think he could pull off what McCain couldn't. In today's poisoned political climate, if a Republican is going to "reach across the aisle," he'd better have a .45 in his hand. Bipartisanship is deader than Ted Kennedy.

Christie didn't have to provide the photo ops for Obama. Christie didn't have to lavish praise on Obama. Christie didn't have to stand in front of the cameras with Obama and provide sound bites that are sure to find their way into Obama campaign commercials that will run in key states. There was no reason for it. He didn't have to do any of it. The money would have come without it.
Mitt's people may profess to have no hard feelings. That's fine. I'm furious at Christie, and will nurse this grudge for a decade. And I guarantee you there are plenty of others out there who are just as angry at him as I am. Bye Chris. Might as well switch parties now.

What #14 said. IMHO, If all obama has to do is throw OUR Taxpayer money at States like N.J., because of hurricanes to make "someone" still vote for him, I'd have to wonder how deep the "Conservative" vote of that person is. Personally, obama could walk on the proverbial water and turn the water into wine and I STILL wouldn't vote for him and neither would anyone else I know. Chris Christie is an ingrate, and it doesn't matter how it is spun. Why would we expect anything different from a "Republican" in New Jersey? He's never claimed to be a "conservative".

Governor Christie did what any responsible governor would and should do. Now is not the time for politics. Thanking and praising the President for doing something to help the state is in keeping with his duties as governor. That doesn't mean he supports the President...it is very well known that he is one of Romney's biggest supporters. As to his wanting to run for office in 2016...I'm not holding my breath on that one. I think he is exactly where he wants to be. And in the future will most likely look to represent the NJ in the senate or accept a cabinent position.
Not everything is about politics...sometimes the elected representative has to do what is best for his people. Christie has done that.

Not a fan of Christie but I think gov just squandered a day of BOs time in a state that he was going to win anyway. In addition, the hurricane victims whose tempers are already flaring will recall that Obama was the titular head seen in all the photo ops - that's the man to blame when everything isn't back to normal in days.

I'm surprised that any helicopter carrying (1) Christie's butt, and (2) Obama's ego could even lift off. Both egos, actually.
I knew Christie was not really pro-life, but the fact that he's willing to praise to the highest the most infanticidal person ever to hold elective office here is shocking to me. Has he no shame whatsoever? Maybe Obama could invite him to the Oval Orifice and present him with a gold curette, with Christie's initials and Obama's engraved and lovingly intertwined on it. There comes a time, Gov. Romney, when we do not make nice with those who would defeat the respectable campaigns we have run. This is all so disgusting.

#20 that would be really heartwarming if it were true. Christie has had his face on any news show that would have him since before the storm hit. Obama left NJ today after an hour and a half the same way he found it but with another campaign event under his belt. I am certainly no Bloomberg fan but at least he had the stones to tell Obama to butt out rather than put up with the drama of an Air Force One photo-op. Christie is looking out for Christie so let's tell it like it is.

He did not have to kowtow to the Wan. But he IS addicted to Federal Dollars. CC is NOT a conservative.

TRENTON — Talk about an odd couple. Liberal media mogul Arianna Huffington is bringing GOP star Gov. Chris Christie to the White House Correspondents´ dinner later this month. The governor will feel at home with the Huffington Post founder´s other guests: New Jersey natives Jon Bon Jovi of Sayreville and Shaquille O´Neal of Newark, according to Women´s Wear Daily, which first reported the invites. Shaq recently visited Christie at the Statehouse in Trenton. Christie was one half of an unusual pairing last year, too, when he made headlines for sitting next to bombshell "Modern Family" actress Sofia Vegara.

I don´t mean in a Nazis vs Communists, Hitler vs Stalin, way. I mean in a moderate way: Conservative activists vs Labour activists, you might say. It´s difficult to imagine Conservative activists behaving like the people who celebrated Margaret Thatcher´s death in Glasgow and Brixton. That´s partly because it´s hard to think of any Left-wing leader who had as powerful an effect on the country as she did. But, still, between them, Harold Wilson and Jim Callaghan – with quite a lot of help from Edward Heath – led to a disastrous decline in British fortunes in the 1970s,

While they said Obama “deserves some credit” for including entitlement reforms in his spending blueprint, they said the president shouldn’t hold the plan “hostage” in the debate over tax revenues. “While the president has backtracked on some of his entitlement reforms that were in conversations that we had a year and a half ago, he does deserve some credit for come incremental entitlement reforms that he has outlined in his budget,” Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told reporters Wednesday

The U.S. Postal Service on Wednesday said it will delay a cost-cutting plan to end Saturday mail delivery, following congressional action that blocked the effort. Congress passed a temporary federal spending bill last month including language that prevents the agency -- which lost $15.9 billion last year -- from going to a Monday-to-Friday mail delivery schedule. The agency, which wanted to begin the new schedule Aug. 5, said the decision was made Tuesday by its board of governors. “By including restrictive language in the Continuing Resolution, Congress has prohibited implementation of a new national delivery schedule,”

President Obama´s budget plan would increase taxes by $580 billion over the next decade, but it relies on many proposals that have been repeatedly rejected by Congress. Some were rejected as recently as January, when Congress voted to make permanent a series of tax cuts first enacted under President George W. Bush. Among them, a proposal to limit itemized deductions for high-income families. One new proposal is a 94 cents-a-pack increase in the cigarette tax. The tax would raise an estimated $78 billion over the next decade to pay for early childhood education.

Thomas spoke to an appreciative audience at Duquesne Law School in Pittsburgh. The crowd of about 1,200 people responded with both applause and laughter as he discussed politics, the makeup of the Supreme Court, race, and his own struggles to find his path in life. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999.
