NYC has been lucky that since WWII that it has not been hit by a big hurricane. Look back in the 1950's when there were several big hurricanes that came up the coast but never crossed the coastline just South of NYC, then check out what happened in 1938 when the New England Express hurricane bypassed NYC and tore up the New England coast. Remember this hurricane Sandy was big but was still a Cat#1, what would happen in NYC if that city took a direct hit from a Cat#5 hurricane?

People are building houses right up to the ocean on what used to be barren islands, so they have to expect that anytime a hurricane passes by that they are going to suffer catastrophic damage.

NYC could have build tidal barriers across the narrows and near Hell Gate that would have stopped the tidal surge from entering NY harbor and the East River hitting Manhattan, but nothing could be done to save the islands and low lying land that directly face the Atlantic Ocean from a big tidal surge.

When I hear Demonrats screamin' about Climate Change, all I can think about is their fear of losing billions of dollars if the scam is shut down. After all, Big Al, is the first carbon billionaire, and he laughs all the way to the bank.
