Fox News Poll: Race For
White House a Dead Heat

Fox News, by Dana Blanton

Original Article

Posted By:The Slammer, 10/31/2012 6:40:56 PM

With less than a week before the election, the race for the White House is dead even: Barack Obama and Mitt Romney receive 46 percent each, according to a Fox News poll of likely voters. Romney had a razor-thin 46-45 percent edge earlier this month, after the first presidential debate (October 7-9). Interviews in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy were completed before Monday evening, when the hurricane made landfall. Independents give the edge to Romney by seven percentage points (46-39 percent). That’s down from a 12-point advantage in early October. There’s a gender gap in vote

I'm still afraid this thing will be stolen by the dems. It is their God [if they were to believe in such, anyway] given right to steal elections. I am very pessimistic as to the outcome of this presidential election. OK, so I'm an inveterate pessimist. Usually, though, my pessimism, at least insofar as it concerns the depths to which dems will sink, has proven to be justified.

Has an incumbent president ever won reelection, without a credible third party candidate, with 46% of the vote one week prior to the election?
I don't think so.
But if 46% for missie barack is correct, you can add 2% fraudulent votes to boost him up to 48%. So the end result could very well be 51-48, President Romney, after lawsuits by missie barack in every state with a one percent or less difference in vote count.
If that happens, it will take at least a month to declare a winner.

This poll could be an outlier. Fox polls throughout this campaign have given Obama higher numbers than other polls.

I look at Rassmussen and Gallup and try not to get too upset when other polls give Obama a more favorable position.

D+5 Sample. Admits to oversampling Hispanics, states that oversample is "weighted" to avoid affecting results, but not how.

Data in survey generally shows Romney's support growing and 0-bama's shrinking. Also admits that results are pretty much the same from beginning of October to end - which is reflected in virtually no other polls.

Wouldn't worry too much about this.

Again...Rasmussen was number ONE in calling the last election. I don't know who does polling for FOX, but they're way off base.

Plus, remember everyone FOX NEWS purposely playing it safe cuz they do not want to say what they probably know just in case it's wrong. All this down to the wire, too close to call, dead heat talk is what we hear every 4 yrs. My faith is in God, not in these pundits, polls or certainly no powerless psychic. Dems can't cheat enuf to matter this time. Be of good cheer!

I see the glass as half full (or almost full really).

Tied using a D+5 poll and RR leading by 7 among independents (which helps confirm that the D+5 decision biases the sample.)

Further among Dems only 89% support Barry, while 95% of Pubs support Mitt.

Also, the Indies were under sampled at 18% - and they are breaking by 7 for RR. In real life they come around 32% of the voters.

I've long been less than impressed with FOX's pollster. Wish FOX would stick to Ras alone.

That said this poll finds Romney up with indies by a nice chunk. Bodes well despite the over-sampling of rats.

Roger Ebert dead: A film critic
with the soul of a poet

It was reviewing movies that made Roger Ebert as famous and wealthy as many of the stars who felt the sting or caress of his pen or were the recipients of his televised thumbs-up or thumbs-down judgments. But in his words and in his life he displayed the soul of a poet whose passions and interests extended far beyond the darkened theaters where he spent so much of his professional life. The Pulitzer Prize-winning movie critic for the Chicago Sun-Times for more than 45 years died Thursday, according to a family friend.

We begin with the three words everyone writing about the election must say: Nobody knows anything. Everyone’s guessing. I spent Sunday morning in Washington with journalists and political hands, one of whom said she feels it’s Obama, the rest of whom said they don’t know. I think it’s Romney. I think he’s stealing in “like a thief with good tools,” in Walker Percy’s old words. While everyone is looking at the polls and the storm, Romney’s slipping into the presidency. He’s quietly rising, and he’s been rising for a while.

Team Romney is drawing satisfaction and a growing sense of confidence from a new CNN poll that, while over-weighting Democrats, shows that Mitt Romney is running away with independents, the Big Kahuna in Tuesday's presidential election. According to a new CNN poll, Romney is beating President Obama 59 percent to 35 percent among independents even when third party candidates are included.

Drudge, a close personal friend of Mitt Romney's campaign manager Matt Rhoades, has hyped up several exclusive news stories during the 2012 campaign cycle, most of which have fallen flat. So our hopes aren't too high for his latest report.

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
