| Mitt Romney is within striking distance of Barack Obama in Michigan in the final days before the election, buoyed by more who are convinced the Republican is a viable alternative to the president, with the ability to turn around the economy. Obama's lead over Romney has shrunk to just under 3 points, 47.7 percent to 45 percent, with 3.8 percent undecided, according to a new Detroit News/WDIV Local 4 poll of likely voters. Obama's lead was 6.7 points earlier this month and has eroded to within the poll's 3.8 percentage point margin of error. It's the smallest advantage for the Democratic

this is baffling. President Romney leads missie barack on the economy and jobs, but the stupid voters favor missie barack, even though the economy and jobs are the major issues?

Well there certainly isn't any enthusiasm for Obama here in Macomb Co. like last time. I've seen maybe 6 Obama signs and about as many Romney. Hardly any cars are sporting Obama stickers, but I've seen several anti-Obama ones and a few Romney. What's really different is down in Detroit. Last time, Obama signs were everywhere and this time hardly any are around. Of course many of those homes are now vacant and boarded up. IMHO Romney has a good chance because I don't think blacks will turn out in great numbers this time.

Everybody is predicting, so why not. Zippy will carry these thirteen - Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, RI, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Illinois, Kalifornia, Washington, his 'birth state' Hawaii. The rest one big sea of red on Election Day.

#3--I've also seen very few Obama signs in northern Oakland county. Though the northern area of the county tends to be more conservative than the rest, I am seeing NO Obama signs this election. There were hundreds in 2008. I personally know lots of Michiganders who voted for Obama last time around, but they are now saying an emphatic NO to another term.

My Neighborhood in Oakland County also shows a huge support for Romney/Ryan and not a Obama sign in sight. Earlier this Month we took a ride along the Lakeshore of Lake Huron and the Thumb of Michigan is decorated with the Romney Signs. It doesn't surprise me one bit that Obama is showing a stronger favor on Foreign affairs.. Not one of the papers or news agency's have said nary a word on Benghazi.

FTA: ...2008 when Obama beat U.S. Sen. John McCain of Arizona by more than 16 points.
So in a state Obama won by 16 he's now down to less than a 3 point lead. More evidence of a wipe out in the making.

Yup, it's true. I just gotta text message from my cousin Quantas Spaghettio who's on MLK Blvd. in Detroit manning a Romney booth. He says Mitt buttons are being 'scalped' at huge profits by anyone lucky enough to have gotten one earlier in the day.

An Ohio woman is suing an abortion clinic after she says she made the painful decision to terminate her pregnancy because her life was in danger, only to discover she was still pregnant after the procedure. The northeast Ohio clinic in a court filing denied Ariel Knights´ allegations that doctors were negligent and failed to successfully perform the abortion she sought, eventually leading to the birth of her healthy baby daughter.

The recovering drug addict with a long rap sheet who had just sat down on the bench at a north Philadelphia train station often wondered if he was a good person, and perhaps never considered that anyone thought he was a hero to anybody. But there was no self-doubt when Christopher Knafelc´s instincts kicked in Thursday and he leaped onto the tracks to help a complete stranger he´d just seen flail and fall off the platform.

Viral Internet video and photographs of right-to-work protesters tearing down a tent and trashing a Lansing hot dog vendor´s catering equipment has sparked an online fundraising drive to help a man known by most as "the hot dog guy." During Tuesday´s mass demonstrations that attracted an estimated 10,000 to the Capitol lawn, protesters of the right-to-work law the Legislature was passing and voting on tore down a tent rented by the Michigan chapter of Americans for Prosperity. Witnesses and Internet videos show protesters, some wearing union clothes, using knives or box cutters to cut the tent´s ropes.

Conservatives and even some liberals across the nation are outraged after Gallaudet University suspended the school’s chief diversity officer after she signed a petition in her church to put a gay marriage referendum on the ballot in Maryland. Angela McCaskill, a 23-year veteran of the university, was placed on paid leave as the university investigates her support for traditional marriage. “It recently came to my attention that Dr. McCaskill has participated in a legislative initiative that some feel is inappropriate for an individual serving as Chief Diversity Officer; however, other individuals feel

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. Some conservatives have called on Obama to give up golf, especially since popular public tours of the White House have been canceled because of

West Virginia Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller, one of the towering architects of Obamacare, on Tuesday openly criticized program managers for not moving quickly enough to build the system, warning that if it gets off to a bumpy start it will just get worse. Decrying the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as way too complex, he warned the acting Medicare director that Obamacare is "so complicated and if it isn´t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse."

More than six months since Ambassador Christopher Stevens was assassinated by terrorists in Benghazi, the Obama administration is still trying to keep a lid on information about the attack. Congress and the American people need to know what happened the night of Sept. 11, 2012. Who did the killing and what was their motive? Why wasn´t help sent? And why did the administration lie about who was responsible? Members of Congress have asked hundreds of questions at hearings conducted by several investigative committees, but many of the most significant have been left unanswered. In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Although the first votes on gun -control legislation have yet to be cast, by some measures the National Rifle Association has already won. Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

Margaret Thatcher had more impact on the world than any woman ruler since Catherine the Great of Russia. Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius conceded Monday that implementing the Affordable Care Act has been more complicated and frustrating than the Obama administration expected, largely due to Republicans who have opposed the law´s state-based exchanges and Medicaid expansion. "The politics has been relentless and that continues," Sebelius said. "There was some hope that once the Supreme Court ruled in July, and then once an election occurred there would be a sense that, ´This is the law of the land, let´s get on board, let´s make this work.´"

In a stunning end to one of the most aggressively unsuccessful tenures in retail history, JCPenney (JCP) last night announced that CEO Ron Johnson would be leaving effective immediately. Myron Ullman, Johnson´s predecessor at JCPenney, takes office as CEO. When Johnson was initially wooed by JCPenney, it was to serve as CEO with Ullman as Chairman. In January 2012, Ullman was unceremoniously removed from the board. Gone with Ullman was any control the Board of Directors had over Ron Johnson and his control of JCPenney resources.
