One of the things that is clear in Stanley Kurtz's book "Radical in Chief" is that the purpose of a "community organizer" is to divide people into blocks and fragments that can be manipulated. The goal is to appeal to each block, but to get them to act so that the same goal is achieved in the aggregate. All diversity is good - but some kinds of diversity are better than others.

The speaker commits the usual Straw Man fallacy. The claim is that a diversity of news sources is responsible for fragmentation of the electorate and that the fragments are insulated/isolated from one another. People do not, he says, hear or understand the views of others. Broader horizons and more -yes, more- diversity are urgently needed.

He is, of course, talking in code. His remarks must be deciphered for those who do not know the code. When liberals talk like this they are actually saying that conservatives are ignorant and prejudiced Neanderthals who need to be double dosed with corrective programming and have their phony alternative news sources, e.g. Fox News, shut down for keeps. When liberals lament political discord and incivility, their decoded message is that people who disagree with them should sit down, shut up and listen to reason, i.e. the liberal slant.

It's code, all right. The funny thing is that liberals usually do not know they are sending coded messages, but the rest of us have learned to crack the code as soon as they start talking. Usually people who take the trouble to encode their messages are trying to keep something secret from others, but in this case, liberals seem to be trying to keep something secret from themselves. They say things without understanding what they are saying. They do not possess the key to decrypt their own messages, hence in a literal sense do not know what they are talking about.
