Analysis: Doing his job, Obama a subtle campaigner

| WASHINGTON- It may look to America like President Barack Obama is off the campaign trail. He's really not. By commanding the response to a ferocious October storm a week before the election, Obama is employing a political advantage in the race to be president. He is the president. Clearly, Obama's imperative to act transcends the election. Superstorm Sandy's wrath is real. At a time of death and danger, any president is expected to lead for the people of every state, battleground or otherwise. Yet in a political sense - and politics are absolutely part

There is nothing subtle about the typical Obie photo op with him dropping his latest slogan "lean forward" so often that it began to sound like he was stuck.

We have seen Obit "lean forward" - we all recall his "leaning forward" to Saudi rulers, prime ministers of Japan, and on and on.
Here's michellesmirror.com's photo montage that memorializes the many occasions:

In 2008 Ben Feller was so heavily into supportung Obama that he was called out by NewsBusters and other conservative media watchdogs.
Some bylines need to be recognized from the past. Ben Feller's is one of those.

Lemme tell yuh young Feller, lurching down to Florida for campaign stops with the storm clearly headed farther North was pure Obama. (or Homer Simpson, take your pick)
He landed then turned right around (pulled by his handlers most likely) so that he could sit in the Situation Room and say into the cameras, "there's a storm coming, listen to your local officials."
He's an incompetent boob no more adept at campaign organizing than he is at laying out America-friendly foreign policy.

Too bad your hero didn't employ ANY response to the "ferocious" terrorists in Ben Ghazi. You know, the ones who murdered four AMERICANS while obama and the rest of his minions watched in REAL TIME. I am from Missouri... "the Show-Me state."
Obama failed to do his job and let our people die in Benghazi without raising a finger to help them.
He didn't make a mistake... he chose not to help them. They begged for help..and he let them down.
Like the scene in the movie Braveheart where William Wallace is in the middle of battle.. and he waves the flag on the pole indicating that he wanted the clans on horseback to ride to his men's assistance.. and they looked at each other .. and turned and rode away.
That is what I see when I think of Benghazi. The look on the face of William Walllace..being the look on the face of our Navy Seals.
Betrayal. Betrayal. Betrayal.

His job was to sign the documents declaring each State a disaster area so they can claim Federal funds, not to wander around decimated areas with his hoard of bodyguards and vehicles. It is perfectly evident what has occurred from watching TV. The President did his job by signing the documents and the rest is all for political gain.

Little Martin Richard, the youngest victim of the Boston Marathon bombings, has been laid to rest. “The outpouring of love and support over the last week has been tremendous,” said a statement released this morning from his parents, Denise and Bill Richard. “This has been the most difficult week of our lives and we appreciate that our friends and family have given us space to grieve and heal.” Martin was killed in a bomb blast that injured his mother and younger sister. His family celebrated a private funeral Mass this morning, the statement said. A public memorial service is planned

Cornelius German told his mother he was afraid to wait for her at the bus stop because of all the shootings lately, so he asked her to meet him at a friend´s. Timika Rutledge said she and the boy´s father pulled up to a home and waited Monday night, even blowing the horn for him to come out. Then they saw police arrive. "I saw an officer and I stopped him and asked, ´Officer, what´s going on?´ " "A kid got shot in the back," he told Rutledge. "I went back there and saw my son's jacket and his gym shoes. I just bought those shoes. I saw him laying in the grass in the backyard. ... I knew it was him in the dark.

In what can be considered a very rare ratings victory for a news network, Fox News beat out all other cable programming in total viewership last week during its coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings. In both total day and primetime totals for the week of April 15-21, Fox beat out cable powerhouses like the USA Network (which typically ranks first), the History Channel, A&E, and Nickelodeon. Election coverage notwithstanding, the last time a news network ranked first among all cable was nearly a decade ago during coverage of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

BOSTON- Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told a U.S. Senate panel Tuesday her department knew of one Boston bombing suspect´s trip to Russia. However, the FBI did not know of Tamerlan Tsarnaev´s trip to a region of Russia dominated by Islamist violence, The Hill reported, because an airline misspelled his name on a flight manifesto given to the U.S. government. Napolitano told Senate Republicans her department was aware of Tamerlan Tsarnaev´s departure from the country, but the FBI had closed its investigation of him when he returned, The Hill reported.

Boston -Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, 46, said she was "proud" of her sons Tamerlan and Dzhokhar, and was travelling to the United States to lay her eldest to rest. In an interview with The Daily Telegraph in the Russian republic of Dagestan, she refused to accept that her sons were responsible for the attack, which killed three people and wounded more than 180, claiming her son had been "set up". "It´s a big show, a spectacle. Americans love a show," she said. Mrs Tsarnaeva´s comments came as it was disclosed that:

AUSTIN — The chairman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality raised the idea Monday that the explosion at a fertilizer plant that devastated the tiny town of West may have stemmed from a rail car reportedly loaded with ammonium nitrate. "I would submit to you that the ammonia tank that´s been a lot of people´s focus was likely not what we saw exploding there," TCEQ Chairman Bryan Shaw said at a forum sponsored by the Texas Tribune. "It´s more likely — as I´ve done some analysis of that — that it´s likely possibly

First elected in 1978, Baucus has been the top Democrat on the powerful committee since 2001. The likely Democratic candidate to succeed him would be former governor Brian Schweitzer, sources said. First elected in 1978, Baucus has been the top Democrat on the powerful tax-writing committee for more than a dozen years. At times infuriating his Democratic colleagues, he worked with Republicans to co-write the Bush-era tax cuts and the Medicare prescription drug plan, but he also served as the lead defender against George W. Bush’s 2005 effort to partially privatize Social Security and played a critical role

“You know, I actually believe my own bull.” That’s what President Obama once told a reporter. If the man ever uttered a statement that spoke more to his approach to politics, I haven’t heard it. Whether it stems from a grandiose overconfidence in his own powers of persuasion, the lessons he took from his years as a community organizer or his own messianic conviction that he is on the right side of everything, including history itself, the president has operated under the theory that he can move the American people to his causes. He can’t. He just can’t.

Illinois donors to President Barack Obama’s second inauguration included aviation giant Boeing Co., which contributed $1 million, and billionaire Penny Pritzker, who was behind two gifts totaling a half million dollars, according to newly filed records. Pritzker, who is being vetted by the White House as a candidate for commerce secretary, gave $250,000 to the Presidential Inaugural Committee, and her private-investment firm, PSP Capital Partners, L.L.C., gave another $250,000. She was among the co-chairs of the 2009 Obama inauguration. Two other donors from Obama’s home state each gave $250,000:

The immigration proposal pending in Congress would transform the nation’s political landscape for a generation or more — pumping as many as 11 million new Hispanic voters into the electorate a decade from now in ways that, if current trends hold, would produce an electoral bonanza for Democrats and cripple Republican prospects in many states they now win easily. Beneath the philosophical debates about amnesty and border security, there are brass-tacks partisan calculations driving the thinking of lawmakers in both parties over comprehensive immigration reform, which in its current form offers a pathway to citizenship

In Obama´s Audacity of Hope, he stated, "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in any ugly direction." He also asserted in Bob Woodward´s Obama´s Wars, "We can absorb [another] terrorist attack." These are two straightforward statements that raise the question of whether a man who has been seemingly obsessed with reaching out to "the Muslim world" since taking office is capable of fulfilling his duty as commander-in-chief to keep America safe and secure.

In debate classes or law school, it is often referred to as the ‘arguing against the non-existing opponent’ tactic. The way it works is you imply your opponent is making an outlandish, unsavory claim (though he isn’t), hoping others will run with it or, at worst, that your opponent won’t sufficiently correct it and the claim sticks. To illustrate, imagine Sally is arguing in favor of marijuana’s legalization against Tom. In the middle of the debate, Tom suddenly shrieks: “Well, Sally, you can talk about legalizing marijuana all you want but I just don’t believe

THE graying man flashing fury in the Rose Garden on behalf of the Newtown families, the grieving man wiping away tears after speaking at the Boston memorial service, is not the same man who glided into office four years ago. President Obama has watched the blood-dimmed tide drowning the ceremony of innocence, as Yeats wrote, and he has learned how to emotionally connect with Americans in searing moments, as he did from the White House late Friday night after the second bombing suspect was apprehended in Boston.

The two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings were not licensed to have the firearms they used in several shootouts with police on Friday, Reuters reported Sunday night. The news that the suspects were not authorized to own firearms will likely add fuel to calls for tougher gun laws – an issue that was put on the back-burner last week after the Senate blocked the central elements of a gun-control package backed by President Obama. Because Massachusetts state law bars handgun ownership for those younger than 21, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, age 26, was the only brother who could have

Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas tells The Associated Press in an interview Sunday that neither Tamerlan Tsarnaev (tsahr-NEYE´-ehv) nor his brother Dzhokhar had permission to carry firearms. The most glaring fact about our president is that he is an empty suit. The people around him are also empty suits. They believe in nothing, really, but unearned luxury, unmerited adulation, and unaccountable power. Those whom we have come to call "leftists" are in fact nothing but nihilists, and we flatter them when we presume that they value anything beyond their vanities, their avarice, and their selfishness. When tragedy strikes, like in the Boston bombing, these empty suits can look and

President Obama´s sequester scare strategy has been a political flop, but his government keeps trying. The latest gambit is to force airline flight delays until enough travellers stuck on tarmacs browbeat enough Republicans to raise taxes again. This week the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) began furloughing each of its air-traffic controllers for one day out of every 10 to achieve roughly $600 million in savings this fiscal year. The White House dubiously claims that the furloughs are required by the sequester spending cuts enacted in 2011.

George W. Bush will return to the spotlight this week for the dedication of his presidential library, an event likely to trigger fresh public debate about his eight fateful years in office. But he reemerges with a better public image than when he left Washington more than four years ago. Since then, Bush has absented himself from both policy disputes and political battles. A new Washington Post-ABC News poll suggests that the passage of time and Bush’s relative invisibility have been beneficial to a chief executive who left office surrounded by controversy.

Apparently the latest craze in NYC is to let your babies’ freak flags fly by letting them go commando: When Jada Shapiro decided to raise her daughter from birth without diapers, for the most part, not everyone was amused. Ms. Shapiro scattered little bowls around the house to catch her daughter’s offerings, and her sister insisted that she use a big, dark marker to mark the bowls so that they could never find their way back to the kitchen. Following the attack in Boston, some politicians, including Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Dan Coats (R-IN), advised slowing down immigration reform legislation in order to allow further debate and not make rushed decisions based on emotions. In an interview with Bloomberg’s Trish Regan, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) criticized his colleagues, deeming the argument “ludicrous.” Grassley’s remarks on Friday immediately caught attention when he said, “Given the events of this week, it’s important for us to understand the gaps and loopholes in our immigration system.” “How can individuals evade authorities and plan such attacks on our soil?” he asked.
