Governor fights legalizing of pot in Colorado

| Denver - Ordinarily Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, Democrat, enjoys being ahead of the curve — but not when it comes to being the first state to legalize marijuana for nonmedical use. Mr. Hickenlooper, along with a bevy of other top Colorado officeholders, has come out against Amendment 64, which would lift the prohibition on recreational marijuana use and possession for adults 21 and older. Voters in two other states, Oregon and Washington, are also considering statewide measures to legalize recreational marijuana. All three initiatives would direct the state to regulate and tax the

Comments: Only druggies, traffickers and their dupes want to legalize pot which intoxicating and addictive federally-illegal substance is a gateway drug for much uncontrollable addiction and other serious health problems- especially among children.

The Batman spray shooter of Aurora was head loaded with pot. You'd think that would be a warning to Colorado of what they're in for more of if they legalize this mind-altering drug. Sure, some people can take it with the only consequence being dulled minds. But then you get guys like him with pot-triggered schizophrenia and well, lots of dead bodies.

The face-eater of Miami was found to have only pot in his system, and the spray shooter of Norway, Breivik, owned a pot farm before he went on his kill spree. Jared Loughner was all about pot from an early age before he went paranoid, fixated on Gabby Giffords and decided to kill people.
Repeated events like this show the extent to which it's nasty toxic stuff.

Although I don't like hickenlooper because he's just another western democrat governor who poses as a moderate/conservative, I agree with him on Amendment 64.
This is bad for youth, and bad for public eduction. Most high school teachers (I'm one) agree.

Face reality: The so-called war on drugs has become a war on the American people's freedom. We now have the largest, most expensive police state in the world, even surpassing communist China! We have more involvement of our military in our lives than ever before (admittedly, behind the scenes- but involved heavily). Our citizens are in prisons in unbelievable numbers and murders due to drug dealing kills more kids every year than Vietnam did. All over the prohibition of drugs! Even law abiding American citizens can't get the medications they desperately need without onerous and draconian government regulation on the duty of our doctors to prescribe them. It has become a force within itself, with the legions of law enforcement now lobbying governments for ever more stringent laws and invasive technology to invade the privacy of our lives. It must stop! There is only one way to get it back under control; legalize it and regulate it. Take the profit out of it. Tehre are numerous ways to do it. And do it right. But, it may now be too late. Law enforcement is far too powerful and ingrained in our government. It is no longer the people in charge. It's the cops.

Lie. Not a "gateway drug". You cannot smoke enough of it to be a health problem (if it is any good). Like drinking; it should be used with a bit of circumspection. Oh. I forgot some folks have no will and no brain. My friends, evolution and/or God shall sort all that out. Few or none of you are qualified to pass judgement. Those rocks shall never hit your head because none of you are without sin. My opinion is to stop outlawing things that grow just because you do not approve of the way some use them. There are an equal number of folks who hold the same opinion of you and something you think or do. Get over it.

Well, this Colorado resident voted early and voted "yes" on 64. All this nonsense about drugs has to stop. We' ve had a "war on drugs" for 40 years, with all the attendant restrictions on our freedoms and trillions of dollars down the hole - and drugs are cheaper and more available than ever ! People who want dope are going to get it, no matter what. Worried about "the children"? Worry about your OWN children, and let others worry about their own.

The U.S. is increasing its oil production faster than ever and U.S. drivers are guzzling less gas. But you´d never know it from the price at the pump. (Snip) A major reason cited for high gasoline prices over the past two years -- fighting and political tensions in the Middle East and North Africa -- doesn´t apply this year. Libyan production has returned after collapsing during the country’s revolution two years ago. And higher production from the U.S. and Saudi Arabia has made up for Iran’s declining output in the face of Western sanctions.

U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said Tuesday that federal guidance on new laws legalizing marijuana in Colorado and Washington state is imminent as state oficials have been forced to tread cautiously in their efforts to implememt the laws. (Snip) Marijuana has been legalized for limited medical use in 18 states, as well as the District of Columbia, where applicants had to sign waivers releasing the city from liability if the federal government prosecuted the program’s participants. To proponents of medical marijuana, the Justice Department’s letter served as a reminder of the tenuous relationship between local and federal views on medicinal marijuana use.

In the years before the financial crisis, mortgage originators were rewarded with bonuses and higher pay for steering millions of Americans into risky and unsustainable home loans. Starting next January, however, brokers’ and loan officers’ compensation will no longer be based on the terms of the mortgages they originate, according to new guidelines released Friday by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The rules are the latest effort by the consumer watchdog to improve the way homeowners interact with the mortgage industry at every step of the lending process.

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

Few Americans can not answer this question: who is the worst domestic mass murderer in United States’ history? Due to the United States media, most are aware that Timothy McVeigh slaughtered 168 people with a bomb in 1995. Most Americans also know the names of our three most monstrous serial killers: “The Green River Killer” Gary Ridgeway, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy. The U.S. media is again responsible for the general awareness of these men; these stories deserved — and received — national attention due to our common interest in personal safety, the rule of law

Here is something I don’t understand: liberals are often revealed as vile, vulgar hatemongers–not all of them, of course, but far too many–yet they never seem to pay a penalty at the polls. Why is that? Margaret Thatcher’s death has been the latest occasion for the Left to show its true stripes. All across the U.K., there have been demonstrations–vulgar at best, and violent at worst. In Bristol, lefties celebrating a Thatcher “death street party” started fires, destroyed property and battled police: This evening in Trafalgar Square, liberals have turned out for a long-planned celebration of Thatcher’s death:
