Down ticket, few reach
for Obama’s coattails

Washington Times, by David Sherfinski

Original Article

Posted By:Dreadnought, 10/30/2012 11:05:10 PM

President Obama’s hope-and-change coalition powered his party to wins up and down the ticket in 2008, but the campaign this year has taken on a far more self-serving focus, as both Mr. Obama’s campaign and his fellow Democrats see benefits in keeping their space from each other. From Virginia to Ohio to Arizona, the president’s 2008 magic has worn off. He never mentioned his Capitol Hill allies in his address at the Democratic National Convention and hasn’t been as focused on campaigning for them this time. “He doesn’t have the coattails he had in ‘08,”

Fallout over his policies, foreign and domestic, has stripped 0bama, not only of his coattails, but his coat also.

Down ticket dems did not receive monetary support or campaign support from the DNC, or 0bama. ALL of the money on the left has been spent trying to buy 0bama four more years.

I think the GOP will make its biggest gains in the down ticket races. We will also send 0bama on a nice long vacation and have a good shot at the Senate.

Consolidating all of their money behind 0bama will set the dems back for decades.

In AZ Jeff Flake's ads in the US Senate race have improved greatly. He seemed to be running only negative ads before. Poor ones at that.

Maybe he was holding back for a big push in the last two weeks.

His opponent Carmona now seems exhausted. He sure isn't talking about Obama.

GOP already holds the AZ Senate seats so there will be no gain.

Obama taunts ‘scared’ Republicans,

Washington Times, by Staff    Original Article

President Obama told House Democrats Friday that comprehensive immigration reform remains a top priority for this year in spite of Republican lawmakers who are “scared” of the political consequences. “They’re worried and they’re scared about the political blowback,” Mr. Obama said of the GOP. “We can all appreciate the maneuverings that take place, particularly in an election year.” Speaker John A. Boehner has said that the House probably won’t approve comprehensive immigration reform this year because Republicans don’t trust Mr. Obama to improve border security. At the Democrats’ annual retreat in Cambridge, Md., Mr. Obama said he doesn’t want to

CAMBRIDGE, Md. — It had been a good week — a very good week — for Nancy Pelosi. So good, in fact, that she and her leadership team felt the need to caution their House Democratic troops not to gloat over the fact that they had scored a clean win against the majority Republicans over raising the debt ceiling. But as the House Democrats met for their annual retreat in this Eastern Shore town, there was one subject the minority leader appeared determined to avoid: her grim prospects for regaining the speaker’s gavel in this year’s midterm elections. “That’s not

Belgium has just passed a law allowing euthanasia for children. The Low Countries allow for suicide and doctor-assisted suicide, but Brussels is the first to open to door to dealing death to children of any age. If the prospect of youngsters being helped to off themselves seems horrifying, do not worry – the law has “safeguards” to ensure all the killing will be purely voluntary: a psychologist has to certify that the child has “capacity or discernment” to understand what they are doing. Aside from its inherent significance, Belgium’s move requires us to revisit Roper v. Simmons, the 2005 Supreme

In the ongoing saga of the Affordable Care Act, oddly referred to by Democrats as the law of the land even as it is amended at will by presidential fiat, we are beginning to understand the extent of its war on jobs. First, the Congressional Budget Office triples its estimate of the drop in the workforce resulting from the disincentive introduced by Obamacare’s insurance subsidies: 2 million by 2017, 2.3 million by 2021. Democratic talking points gamely defend this as a good thing because these jobs are being given up voluntarily. Nancy Pelosi spoke lyrically about how Obamacare subsidies will

While Hillary Rodham Clinton has all but vanished, hitting the speaker’s circuit at $200,000 a pop and bouncing between her two palatial mansions in New York and Washington, the press corps is working overtime to rebuild her tarnished reputation. The 7,500-word tome ignored the former secretary of state’s role in the deaths of four Americans. When President Obama’s term expires in January 2017, we will have completed roughly one-sixth of the 21st century. How will the American political history of the period be remembered? Quite likely, it will be remembered, fairly or not, for two badly botched presidencies — one of them mainly for a botched war; the other mainly for a botched overhaul of our health care system. President Bush initiated a war that he hoped would help transform the Middle East for the better. The war went well at first. But then events failed to validate its primary stated justification — the alleged

From its inception, the strategy behind the Obama administration’s implementation of ObamaCare has been simple: to frontload the benefits and postpone the pain and costs of this massive government intrusion into the private sector for as long as possible. This deceitful approach enabled President Obama run for reelection in 2012 on the spurious promise of extending insurance coverage to the poor and those with pre-existing conditions without being held accountable for the problems with the law that would only become apparent in his second term. At least every week now, there is a new story supporting the narrative of an inevitable 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential bid. Indeed, the conventional wisdom is that it is an absolute certainty that she will run. If anyone is currently saying, flat out, that Hillary isn´t running, I haven´t come across them.
