Atlantic City mayor on
Gov. Christie's rebuke:
'Misinformed and ill-advised'

Today News, by Eun Kyung Kim

Original Article

Posted By:had2, 10/30/2012 8:54:12 PM

Atlantic City, N.J., famous for its boardwalk and casinos, is underwater this morning. The city's mayor, Lorenzo Langford, calls in to discuss the status of the flooded city and the harsh criticism he received from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Atlantic City mayor Lorenzo Langford escalated tensions with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie after the mayor said Tuesday he would welcome the chance over how he handled the city’s evacuation during Hurricane Sandy. A day earlier, Christie had criticized Langford as a “rogue mayor” for supposedly encouraging residents to ride out the storm

Comments:
FTA: “to confront the governor mano y mano”

This always drives me crazy.
"mano a mano" or "mano y mano" does NOT mean "man to man".
It means "hand to hand"

So do you want to fight Christie?

Oh great, AC has Ray Nagin for a mayor. Good luck with all that.

Governor Chris Christie is a lot of things, but misinformed and ill-advised never even makes it on the radar!

Any city like Atlantic City built on a sand dune beside a wild sea is already seriously at risk. The same goes for New Orleans. It should have been condemned and allowed to go back to the swamp it was long ago. All of America pays for the flawed judgement of a few.

It is difficult to believe that a NJ mayor would be dumb enough to irritate Governor Christie.

I would like Chris Christie to explain WHY he has invited obama to tour the damage of New Jersey with him on Wednesday. What a great photo-op for the opportunist-in-chief. Christie's lost his "charm" as far as I'm concerned.

#6, disagree with you on this one. I'll be surprised if this visit would redound to any particular political benefit for Obama. Christie is smart, he is a strong Governor, and a strong Romney supporter. Obama will be hard pressed to
slip any slick political moves past Christie.

Christie presumably didn't want this guy to pull a Ray Nagin, namely protect himself from reputational risk of any inconvenient forced evacuation, then blame the higher authorities for any tragedies that follow. So Christie let it be known from the beginning that he demanded more and this Donk was in the way. This way he got past the Donk to tell the people to Get Out.

Reply 9 - Posted by: LanieLou, 10/30/2012 10:26:09 PM     (No. 8975849)

Now that Christie will be touring with Obama, he can expect a Beer Summit so Obama can tell Christie he rushed to judgement on the mayor.... or say Christie doesn't understand ebonics... either way, this will end badly. The mayor is black.

Reply 10 - Posted by: MDMuskrat, 10/30/2012 10:28:33 PM     (No. 8975854)

Chris Christie is a politician...and a very astute one at that. Like President Romney when he was governor of Massachusetts, Christie has to work with a majority Democrat legislature in a very blue state.

Inviting Obama to get media exposure in NJ, and complimenting him as well, is a beautiful win-win strategic move on Christie's part.

He knows this won't help Obama win at this late stage. The ignorant Dem voters and legislators will be grateful (and beholden to him) for this bold bipartisan move. And Republicans will forgive him easily.

Now, if he'd just stop playing pat-a-cake with the muslims, I could learn to love him again. [Chris! You're an Irish/Sicilian Catholic! Study what these barbarians are doing to Christians...and fight them!]

This could work out well..he can get Obama to commit to stuff and then nail him when he doesn't deliver

Christie is quick with words. If BO says or does something stupid, I'm sure that Christie will respond.

Actually the left hate Christie Seeing him working worth Obama might actually cost Obama a few votes

I don't know how pro-Romney Christie is. I remember at the RNC he spent the majority of his speech talking about himself. Now he calls Obama's involvement ''magnificent'' and takes him on a photo-op tour, right before the election, when even the liberal Bloomberg turned Obama down? Seems to me Christie is showing a ''reach across the aisles'' pose, for his next election maybe?

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. Some conservatives have called on Obama to give up golf, especially since popular public tours of the White House have been canceled because of

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Although the first votes on gun -control legislation have yet to be cast, by some measures the National Rifle Association has already won. Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

The price of crops like coffee and chocolate will skyrocket, and countless cuddly animals around the globe could be wiped out. And yet, a lot of people find it hard to really care about climate change. But don´t be fooled: Climate change will affect you. Here´s a brief sampling of ways that warmer temperatures will suck the fun out of your life: 1. Your flights will be more turbulent

Is Anthony Weiner completely delusional? Or is he out of his flipping, sex-crazed gourd? Whatever big-busted fantasies crawl around the ex-congressman’s delirious noggin, la Weiner made his next goal as clear as the skin of the wholesome college students he craved: He relishes being Mayor Weiner. Please, shut up this clown. These days, the genitally obsessed Weiner has nothing much to do, except sit in his lavish Manhattan apartment and — the inhumanity! — change the poopy diapers of his 16-month-old son, Jordan. Worse, Weiner is living under a kind of house arrest, sentenced to take extreme grief

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius conceded Monday that implementing the Affordable Care Act has been more complicated and frustrating than the Obama administration expected, largely due to Republicans who have opposed the law´s state-based exchanges and Medicaid expansion. "The politics has been relentless and that continues," Sebelius said. "There was some hope that once the Supreme Court ruled in July, and then once an election occurred there would be a sense that, ´This is the law of the land, let´s get on board, let´s make this work.´"

Seven hundred Military Special Operations professionals. And one insistent and very angry Mom. This is becoming a deadly combination for the political game players in the Obama Administration. Sean Smith, the young State Department computer wizard who was brutally murdered that September night in Benghazi, was Pat Smith’s only child. Let’s say that again. Sean Smith was Mrs. Smith’s only child. To listen to her recent radio interview with another Sean… Sean Hannity… is to have the heart break.
