Mason Dixon: Romney has
pretty much nailed down Fla.

Human Events, by John Hayward

Original Article

Posted By:NorthernDog, 10/30/2012 6:32:32 PM

Back on Sept. 23, the Mason Dixon polling firm saw Florida as “very much a toss-up” and “very much a turnout game,” as they described things to the Tampa Bay Times. It was a virtual tie at 48-47 between Obama and Romney, with libertarian Gary Johnson sitting on 1 percent. But now Mason Dixon is pulling out of the Sunshine State, explaining to the Tampa Bay Times that “Mitt Romney has pretty much nailed down Florida.” Hopefully the “binders full of women” crowd won’t think that means Romney is running around the state and nailing people to palm trees. The key Florida polling real

Perhaps Floridians can redeem themselves after the debacle of 2000.
And on a larger issue, it may be the end of the 'third rail' stuff about medicare, and congress and president Romney can save the program.

Florida is often considered a microcosm of the entire country. It is a state with every conceivable constituency, and if it goes big for Romney, it means the Romney/Ryan families will have a very happy night next Tuesday. So will America!

I'm on vacation in the panhandle and I have seen only one Obama sign in these parts. You wouldn't think this sleepy island community would be politically active, but there's hundreds of Romney/Ryan sign everywhere you look. The Obama sign was hand-made and read:

Stolen Sign

(and they taped over it to correct the date to 2012)

Too bad if Floridians cannot dislodge Nelson at the same time they help rid our nation of this left-wing administration. Perhaps Nelson can pledge to not support Harry Reid and even switch party if needed to get rid of Obamacare. But right now it appears that Nelson and Reid are BFFs.

Reply 9 - Posted by: Constitutional, 10/30/2012 7:33:18 PM     (No. 8975504)

I have little doubt Romney will carry the state, just looking around here in central Florida -- provided Palm Beach and Miami don't hand re-mark another 30 thousand "misprinted" ballots (grrrrrr).

What I can't fathom is why anyone would vote Romney and still vote for Nelson. He is a worthless senator who has utterly failed this state and ANY change would be an improvement. If he wins, it will be an absolute testament as to why we DESPERATELY need senate term limits to get rid of entrenched corruptocrats.

This isn't really news--Florida has looked sewn-up for Romney-Ryan for almost a month. Yet the electoral college maps still keep showing Florida as a "toss-up" state. It may not be firmly hard-red Romney, but Florida is surely a "leaning Romney" state by now, if we can believe the Gallup/Rasmussen polls. The other polls are all nonsense anyhow--everywhere.

SEOUL - North Korea reiterated on Saturday that it would not give up its nuclear weapons, rejecting a U.S. condition for talks although it said it was willing to discuss disarmament. North Korea, in a sign of a possible end to weeks of heightened hostility on the Korean peninsula, offered the United States and South Korea a list of conditions on Thursday for talks, including the lifting of U.N. sanctions. But the United States said it was awaiting "clear signals" that North Korea would halt its nuclear weapons activities. The U.S. should not think about the denuclearization

LONDON — Russian commentators are speculating that a Chechen connection in the Boston Marathon bombings will force the United States to reassess its view of the Kremlin’s actions in the troubled Caucasus region. After the capture on Friday night of Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, the second suspect in Monday’s attack, following the death of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, his brother, in a gun battle with police, U.S. authorities have yet to establish a motive for the crime. In Russia, as in the United States, attention focused on whether the bombings were connected with the politics of Chechnya, where the brothers’ family originated.

The Boston Marathon bombing suspect captured Friday night will not be immediately read his Miranda rights, a Justice Department official said. The announcement came as a debate broke out among lawmakers, lawyers and political activists over whether the suspect, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, should be prosecuted in a civilian criminal court or subjected to military interrogation and over when and whether Tsarnaev should be told about his right to an attorney. (Snip) The Obama administration appeared to be taking a middle course, holding off on advising Tsarnaev of his rights, but still directing him into the criminal justice system for prosecution.

Moscow - The main suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing are said to be two brothers from Chechnya, a mountainous and mainly Muslim republic in southern Russia that has been the scene of cyclical revolts and brutal crackdowns by Moscow´s forces for the past 200 years. Though Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev have spent most of their lives outside of Chechnya, their postings on YouTube and the Russian-language VKontakte social media site illustrate a proud attachment to their ancestral homeland and offer many hints that both identified closely with Chechnya´s defiant and fiercely independent mountain warrior traditions. MOSCOW — Chechnya, the Russian republic believed to be connected to the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects, has been the scene of terrorism and related violence since the 1991 break-up of the Soviet Union. Militants from Chechnya and other restive regions in Russia´s volatile North Caucasus have targeted Moscow and other areas with bombings and hostage-takings for more than 20 years. The allegations of ties to Monday´s Boston bombings are the first connection of terror attacks in the United States. Predominantly Muslim, Chechnya declared independence from Russia in November 1991. Uncle Sam lets another bunch of leeching future terrorists into the country who have absolutely no business being here, gives them “asylum,” making them immediately eligible for welfare, and this is the thanks we get? They turn into mass murderers. We bring in thousands of Muslims from a primitive society that has been battling Christians for centuries, and put them into a peaceful Christian society — what could possible go wrong? This is what I was thinking about yesterday, with much of the city under what amounted to martial law.

We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people. But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.
