Mitt's Royal Slam

What's the explanation for Mitt Romney's unparalleled breakout? A few weeks ago, the Romney campaign was regarded as dead in the water. (Snip) Occam's razor applies to politics as much as any other field, and the simplest and best explanation in this case is that no large-scale change occurred within the campaign or without -- that in fact, things are unfolding pretty much as they were planned to. That it's happening this way because it was meant to. There is no conspiracy, and there was no mistake. What we're seeing is an example of straightforward campaign strategy in action. Romney has been

Skimmed the article which is interesting. I did not see it but it may be there that a main reason is that he was never behind to begin with. That was an illusion being sold by the democrat pollsters and MSM sycophants.

The Zerobama disaster was first repudiated 2 years ago in the mid-terms. Nothing has changed since then except that the strength of the repudiation has grown.

We have been scammed by pollsters and the MSM that owns them. It looks like it didn't work like in did in 2008.

First we got to see Obama, really see him, for the first time. Then, his Foreign Policy skills were put on equal display.

Hence, Romney wins.

An interesting take. Because Romney was opposed and even despised first by most Republicans and then by almost all Democrats, people forgot what an actual success in the real world he is. Which means he knows how to get stuff done. A must read?

Good analysis.

In this campaign we have witnessed the exposure of three things – the phony Messiah, the corrupt media, and the tawdry dirty political underbelly of the Democrat machine.

Romney quietly demonstrated what decency and competence can do, without the need for sly political technicians and professional political operatives.

Reply 11 - Posted by: Deedo, 10/30/2012 8:31:46 AM     (No. 8974139)

The Big Takeaway is that Romney appears to be exploding the myth that The Eternal Campaign as followed by Obama is self-defeating. The final push is all that matters, all the swing voters don't pay attention at all until the final two months or so.

Romney was frugal with his money when it didn't count, and now he can outspend (or at least stay even with all Obama's illegal foreign case and stimulus that have come to rest in his pockets).

Thank you, J.R. Dunn! Very well put...and right on the money. There are many of us who lived in MA when Mitt Romney was governor, and who knew a long time ago that this guy is a brilliant business man, was an exceptional governor, and would no doubt clean Obamas' clock in this election. He should have been the candidate the last time...maybe we would have been spared four years of economic pain and destruction.

I was a Romney fan in 2008 but he didn't get far enough. Theories abound on that.

But by 2011-2012, he was not my favorite, yet I have always respected his talents to identify the issue, work out the solution, and git'r'done. We needed that then, and that's exactly what we need right now, as a country. I have every confidence he will be able to do exactly that.

IF ... big IF ... he's not cheated out of the election. There is still that factor out there looming.... Do not underestimate the influence and guidance of evil, especially that which is disguised as a Democrat, specifically a Chicago Democrat.

Allow me to add the fact that Missie Barack spent several hundred million dollars demonizing President Romney, and when that massive falsehood collapsed when the voters took a good look at Romney, Missie Barack was toast.
Add in the media narrative that evangelicals and catholics would never vote for a mormon, which was a false narrative, and this caused a further erosion in the hidden agenda of missie barack.
Finally, the trap carefully laid by Candy Crowley and Missie Barack didn't work. Voters listened to what missie barack said after the benghazi attack, and knew that Romney was correct.

Romney's campaign epitomizes what business folk know as due diligence. Homework was done, a plan created, success defined, steps executed and progress evaluated against progress to success.

Romney didn't do this alone. He surrounded himself with the right people, allowed them to play to their strengths, and provided leadership. He has what it takes to be President and CIC.

What this article points out is that Romney is a man who can learn, plan, strategize, and carry it all out. Other events may occur, but because he has planned so well and is so well prepared, he can use those events to his advantage. If he governs as well as he has campaigned, he will do a great job.

Mitt Romney was not on my radar screen at all this time. Friends kept sending my articles on why he was the only choice Republicans could make. Truth be told none of the candidates really floated my boat. I was grudging going to vote for him because anyone but Obama.

For all the reasons J R Dunn wrote was what finally made me enthusiastic for casting my vote for Romney. I must admit Paul Ryan was the beginning of this journey. It did figure in my enthusiasm. The first debate was the final seal of approval. He cared enough to be very, very prepared. He delivered each knock out punch in a calm manner. In short Mitt Romney exhibited control, calmness and competentcy while schooling our pathetic CinC.

Mitt was always going to win. The media is so clueless about Obama that they were never going to understand how We the People felt. Mitt just made us want to vote for him in the last two months. Excellent planning. This is going to be big. I don't even want to predict how big, but Obama will be blown away. Far away.

"combined Chicago-media offensive appeared to have put Romney on the ropes. The consensus was that Obama would cruise to another victory, one paralleling and perhaps even exceeding his triumph over John McCain four years ago."
I think this about sums up what was going on. It was a combined and coordinated effort between Obozo's campaign and the LSM. I don't know who the biggest loser will be as they will both lose!

Very good, #10.

Mitt was my choice in '08 also, but when he bailed out, (with McCain and Huckabee double teaming him) I was disgusted with the whole republican machine.

This time around, Newt became my guy. He made noises giving hope that Obama and company could be led off in chains to face justice. (a hope I still hold)

Mitt gained my full support again about 10 minutes into the first debate. A clearly decent and competent man was applying for the job Obama had no regard for and had debased. Romney is going to be an outstanding President.

As usual, an excellent article from J.R. Dunn. I believe Occam's Razor is the cleanest and most accurate explanation for Romney's so called "surge."

I could see a book (or two or three) being written about this campaign. But Dunn has set the core of what should be a handbook for all Republicans. One may not realize it, but Reagan ran the same blueprint against Carter. What I like best about this synthesis is towards the end, where Dunn points out the obsessive preparation and atention to detail that Romney encompasses. If he brings this approach to the White House and Congress, we'll have another Reagan on our hands.

FTA ""The Benghazi terrorist raid forced the Obama campaign to release the "47%" tape at least a month prematurely. ""

This was Barry's "October surprise" that he felt had to be used prematurely - to keep campaign momentum.

But October surprises only work because there is no time for the other guy to recover. The classic surprise was the Bush DUI that was kept in storage by the New York Times until the weekend before the election. In hindsight it was a nothing-burger but for several days it depressed the Bush vote - I'd say by 3 or 4%. According to pre-DUI polls, Bush would have won easily without the disclosure - or if the DUI had come out in August when the Times had found out about it but chose to hold it back until the last moments of the campaign. Voters ndid not seem to care about the DUI after having time to think it over. It certainly did not affect the 2004 outcome.

Interesting read, if a bit overdone.
0-bama is his own worst enemy. The only reason his election seemed “inevitable” to the press was because that’s the story they themselves were peddling. As with 2008, literally everything has been swinging in the direction of one party. The Democrats were going to win no matter what in ’08. This election is the GOP’s to lose.

Yes, Romney has handled himself well since becoming the nominee. The first debate was spectacular. Now I’m going out on a limb: This election is not just about winning, it’s about salvaging the country from ruin on a variety of fronts. Romney’s plans are better than 0-bama’s, but if he “reaches across the aisle” and seeks compromise as he promises, his plans won’t be enough. Too many people are giving Romney the same “savior” treatment as was given to 0-bama.

Yes, I hope he wins – but that is not the end, just the beginning. It’s great to be enthusiastic about the candidate, but it’s what happens after the election that really matters.

Reply 33 - Posted by: JoniTx, 10/30/2012 9:49:34 PM     (No. 8975776)

Excellent read.

~~Romney treated the campaign the same as he would have treated a new business back in the '80s or '90s: you learn everything about the industry you wish to invest in from the ground up. You visit the factory floor, you talk to people at all levels, you understand all there is to know before you put in a dime. That's how he approached politics.~~

This weekend´s much-discussed ruling by the Master´s to penalize Tiger Woods, yet allow him to continue play, speaks to issues far more significant than Tiger or the game of golf. How this is being discussed across message boards speaks to where we are as a society, and not all of it is pretty -- even on the right. Perhaps especially on the right.
