I think it can be safely said that in the past 20 years this country has jettisoned pretty much ALL of the defining pieces of the democrat and the republican party and is building anew some political parties that bear little or no resemblance to what was traditionally democrat and republican basics. Minimizing (or completely doing without)the Constitution and the Ten Commandments, we forge ahead into uncharted and pretty scarey waters.

To imply some polygamous angle to Romney would invite criticism of Obama as a dog-eating descendant of a long line of polygamous muslims.

I agree, #2. We're being cut off from our roots. We see that happening to trees in this storm. They will die. There is still a strong element of Christians in our country, though, and where there's life, there's hope. Trust in God and not in political parties.

For the same reason that Obama's race has little or nothing to do with the "GOP Faithful" not supporting him.

"GOP Faithful", (or SIlent Majority, Tea Party, call them what you will), are concerned with working and raising their families, and support the candidate they feel is in the County's best interest.

No surprise that Democrats can't understand that.

The founders were Christians and deists. They affirmed Christianity. Romney behaves like a business smart Christian. Obama behaves like an incompetent if slick jihadist. These are the choices.

It is very, very simple. It is not about RELIGION, it is about VALUES. Romney shares mine. Liberals don't.

Historical Get Out the Vote patterns don't apply this election. Christians will save this republic. All races of Christians, including many blacks. Saw some S. Chicago interviews where the folks were fed up with the poverty pimps keeping all the grant $$ that was intended for their communities.

You want to vote for a socialist progressive who believes that bigger government is always the answer? You want to vote for a party who thinks birth control should be accomplished by abortion (murder) even after the third trimester? You think by taxing my boss into oblivion he will hire more workers?

LDotters realize I am anything BUT a Mormon apologist, so what I say may surprise some. We had our chance to pick my candidate in the Primary, but didn't. I am a Republican because the Democrat platform is entirely anti-God, anti-Christian, anti-Free Enterprise, anti-Military, and anti-American, no matter what a particular candidate might say, they always end up voting with the Dem-Mafia.

The problem Mitt Romney, and any Mormon, has in their religious cult vs. Biblical Christianity is a personal problem, to be sorted out at the Great White Throne Judgment of God in the future. Napolean was an atheist, yet ruled France with establishment, morality, and strength, and wound up as the greatest leader in their history.

I trust that every Republican will vote straight party ticket, and leave the "Christian vs. Mormon" issue to be hashed out on Internet forums, such as this. Mitt Romney's tendency to liberalism can only be kept in check if he has a super-majority of Tea Party Conservatives in both Houses of Congress! He will do what they recommend. Let Mitt preside as President, and let the Legislature legislate on our behalf.

Yes - good article. While the theological differences will remain, millions of voters have united in common values and concerns.
In comparison, on the Democrat side you have people uniting to feed at the trough of Federal largess.

The Democrats are the party of atheism and abortion. Why would any Christian of any denomination vote for a Democrat?

I live in the heart of Utah, Mormons surround me. I have specific issues with their history and after the cross... BUT, I find most of them to be hard working souls, friendly nearly to a fault. Share most of my values. God, Family, Country. The Constitution is nearly as important to them as the Bible and Book of Mormon. I have no issue with a Mormon for President, just as my father had no issue with Kennedy as a Catholic for President did. We must get Zippy out of office, restore our honor and standing in the world community. I spent 20 years in the military to stop communism only to have my fellow citizens embrace it in Zippy... This MUST be undone.

Romney has always been open about his religion and what he has done as a member of the LDS. There are no hidden skeletons with Romney. I am not calling Obama a Muslim. But he has not been as open as Romney in terms of his religious upbringing nor his beliefs as an adult.

When you begin from the liberal viewpoint that conservatives are bigoted, it's understandable they'd think there would have been a backlash.
