The Des Moines Register's
Practical Joke

Daily Beast, by Michael Tomasky

Original Article

Posted By:earlybird, 10/29/2012 1:11:00 PM

This Romney endorsement editorial, if you actually bother to read it, is little more than a practical joke. First of all, it has all the hallmarks of having been ordered by the publisher over the objections of the editorial board. Normally, a sentence like "the Register’s editorial board, as it should, had a vigorous debate over this endorsement," translated into blunt English means: "Our idiot publisher forced this tripe down our throats, and we're counting on you the more knowledgeable readers to understand this."

Comments:
Translation: Obama thought he had editor Rick Green in his pocket when he hung up the phone after that off-the-record phone call. The publisher probably wasn't up for The Once's games.

Tomasky is one of the nastiest, most vitriolic writers out there. Do Obit and Plugs get their material from him?

Media pimps & whores are getting the word from voters.

We don't trust your impartiality.

It's fun watching them back track, stammer and go down the tube.

Iowa & Ohio are within reach of tea drinkers if we go all out in the next 7 days. Obama can be beaten.

FTA-- I'll grant that this is more newsworthy because it's a flip since 2008, but that doesn't make it more important in Iowa than the Sun is in Nevada.

That's funny Mikey. The DMR is the most influential paper in the state. The Sun is an insert in the LV Review-Journal. No one reads it. No one's talking about the Sun endorsement of Obama.

Singer Beyonce and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter traveled to Cuba “pursuant to an educational exchange trip” organized by an authorized company, the U.S. Treasury Department said in response to inquiries from Florida lawmakers. The trip by the celebrity couple spurred widespread media coverage after two U.S. representatives from Florida, Republicans Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, asked the Treasury who approved the travel and for what purpose. U.S. law prohibits financial transactions for tourist activities in Cuba to prevent funding of the government, which controls the industry. The Treasury permits visits for educational reasons.
