Well, I have to admit, I'm certainly confounded. After reading all the gushing over 0's "off the record" interview with the editor, I was sure the Register was firmly in the tank for 0. And indeed, even this editorial is still showing 0 undeserved love (eg that biz about how 0 "reached out to Republicans but was rebuffed"). All in all, I'm pretty shocked.

That off-the-record call from Obie to the editor and publisher didn't work. His pleading for their endorsement failed. Now Axelrod has to spin it their way.
Does anyone know what he meant here?
“We have great respect for the Des Moines Register,” Axelrod added. But then, Axelrod reminded the reporter that the paper’s endorsement failed to stop Obama in 2008. “We soldiered on without their endorsement in the caucuses in 2008,” he recalled.
The Des Moines Register endorsed Obama in 2008.
But then I have never understood the political process in Iowa.

Re #4, editor Rick Green gushed. It's my bet that when the editorial board made its endorsement decision, after a discussion in which the editorial board admitted there were disagreements, publisher Hollingsworth cast her final vote. For Romney.

#5 he's talking about the Iowa Caucus. The DMR endorsed Hillary in 2008 and McCain for the GOP.
This endorsement stung. I'm glad to see Axelrod taking it so badly.

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric Holder, the nation´s chief law enforcement officer, returned to the courthouse where he once served as a judge, this time in the role of prospective juror performing his civic duty. The Justice Department said Holder wasn´t chosen and that he won´t be called back. Had he been selected for the jury Tuesday, the attorney general would have been on a panel hearing an armed robbery case. Holder sat in the last row of Judge Stuart Nash´s courtroom along with other prospective jurors as the judge gave details of the case.

MSNBC´s programming became almost entirely full of commentary and opinion in 2012, while "factual reporting" saw almost no airtime, according to a new report from the Pew Research Center. The report, which is part of Pew´s annual comprehensive State of the News Media, found that opinion and commentary fill 85 percent of the airtime on MSNBC. The U.S. has been denied direct access to the only publicly known suspect in custody in connection with the Benghazi terror attack, Fox News has learned, with U.S. interrogators still unable to sit in the same room as the Egypt-held prisoner to ask questions. Abu Ahmed, also known as Mohammed Jamal, is suspected of establishing Islamist training camps in Eastern Libya where militants who took part in the Sept. 11 Benghazi terrorist attack were able to train. Ahmed is not suspected of directly taking part in the attack which left four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, dead.

An Ohio woman filed a $25,000 lawsuit against her employer, alleging she was fired for voting for President Obama. Patricia Kunkle of Kettering, Ohio, claimed that Dayton-based Q-Mark, Inc., threatened to fire employees of the defense contractor if Obama won re-election, with the president’s supporters to be the first to receive pink slips, the Dayton Daily News reported. Kunkle said she had a conversation the day after Election Day that indicated she voted for Obama. She was fired three days later.
