From Firestorm to Perfect Storm
American Spectator, by Ray Hartwell

Original Article

Fox News has aired a riveting "timeline" program, showing in painful detail the unfolding of the terror attack in Benghazi. It was a deadly firestorm of a planned assault aimed at the United States consulate, at American sovereign soil. What's now crystal clear is that the administration had real time information on what was happening, knew that our ambassador and other Americans were in mortal peril, and nonetheless directed response teams to "stand down." An American ambassador and others defending American soil died horribly. And the President, then leading in the polls, well, he skipped town

As others have pointed out, the whitehouse weasel also abandoned some 20 plus other people who were later rescued against his orders. Maybe 4 deaths just doesn't meet the threshold of importance for abcnbccbsmsnbc.

If you had a video of Obama giving the order to stand down,he would still lie and weasel his way out of it. "That was taken out of context". "I misspoke".

i wonder how many people know Obama was offering the release of some Gitmo prisoners in exchange for a peace deal with the talaban.

At their 5 pm meeting on Sept 11 it's beginning to look like Obama couldn't decide whether to help the former SEALs or not and let Panetta make the decision(s) to tell them to "stand down" through General Ham. Ham said he would send the support, whereupon Panettar replace Ham with the next in command. What do you fellow Ldotters think?

Has anyone stopped to wonder exactly what good the White House could possibly have thought could come of this course of action (or inaction)? Really think about it.

I see only two possibilities: one, they can always think about an issue until doing nothing is the proper response. But it is the second possibility which should leave us all chilled to the bone, and that is that our CIC would not and COULD not bring himself to give an order to fire.

George W. Bush, the painter, will soon have his first gallery showing. The former president’s artwork – a source of fascination for his fans and critics, in the worlds of both politics and art – will be the centerpiece of a special exhibit hosted later this year at his presidential library. Starting in early April, the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum will open “The Art of Leadership: A President’s Personal Diplomacy.” The exhibit will focus on foreign policy and Bush’s relationships with world leaders, according to a news release. Texas, often the most interesting political state in the country, has been a scrooge about polling data recently. The exit pollsters of 2012 saved money by skipping the state, denying us data about how the Democrats (and Ted Cruz) played with Hispanic voters. This year´s pollsters have mostly ignored the snoozer primary between Sen. John Cornyn and a scattering of conservative challengers. But we have the new University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll, the first I´ve seen that covers every candidate in a primary that ends in eight days. The poll´s an "internet survey of 1,200 registered voters"—not ideal, but good enough.

They are African-American 20-somethings, members of the so-called post-racial era that began with President Obama´s election, whose lives have been lived largely free of overt racism. For many of them, the very notion of Black History Month is a trite anachronism. It´s a time given over to rote recitations of a few well-known factoids about the

In remarks today, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel said U.S. global military dominance can “no longer be taken for granted.” He said this even as he was in the process of announcing that the Obama administration plans to shrink the United States Army to its smallest force since before the World War II buildup. (For context, the Army will go from a post-September 11 peak of 570,000 to between 440,000 and 450,000, the smallest Army since 1940.) Max Boot does an excellent job laying out the problems with this proposal here and here. I’d simply add that the fact that

A senior Health and Human Services official was so frustrated last May over the White House´s “disarray” on health care before the launch of Obamacare insurance exchanges that he warned of needing a “come to Jesus meeting” with his counterparts. Compared with how the Obama administration has swept under the rug the Benghazi attacks of September 11, 2012, Nixon’s attempt to cover up the Watergate burglary was rank amateurism. To be fair, Nixon’s team of Haldeman, Ehrlichman, Mitchell, and Dean were not in the same league as Obama’s, which includes not only his cabinet but most of the national media and much of Congress. The “opportunity agenda” was supposed to be the signature initiative of President Obama’s second term. But recent data suggest his administration is waging a war on opportunity instead. First, came the Congressional Budget Office report, which found that Obamacare will reduce overall employment by the equivalent of 2.5 million workers by 2021 and will reduce aggregate labor compensation for Americans by 1 percent during the same period — a $70 billion-a-year pay cut for lower- and middle-income American workers.
