Obama appears to have

AMES, Iowa - President Barack Obama is poised to eke out a victory in the race for the 270 electoral votes needed to win re-election, having beaten back Republican Mitt Romney's attempts to convert momentum from the debates into support in all-important Ohio, according to an Associated Press analysis a week before Election Day. While the Democratic incumbent has the upper hand in the electoral vote hunt, Romney has pulled even, or is slightly ahead, in polling in a few pivotal states, including Florida and Virginia. The Republican challenger also appears

"To be sure, anything can happen to influence the Nov. 6 election." - article. Let's see, Romney is gaining in every poll except a couple which are oversampling Democrats by around 9% or even more. 0bama is even having to campaign in PA at this late date. That's the upper hand? Once more they are trying to influence the election rather than report it to suppress Republican turnout.

#4, I hope that's what is happening. I spoke with someone from the Romney campaign here in Loudoun County, VA this evening. She said that they are hearing that 0bama still has a slight lead in VA. I'll be making phone calls on Thursday. There have been a lot of IT transplants from CA here over the past several years, and it has unfortunately changed the political demographics in Northern Virginia from Republican to Democrat.

Thanks for the laugh, AssPress. Really needed it today. Does the 'upper hand' include PA, MI, MN, OR, WI,CO,NH, NV? All states that Obama won easily in 2008, where its now tied, or Obama is losing? Not to mention FL, NC, VA, or IN that Obama has now apparently thrown in the towel on those? He appears to be putting all his eggs in the OH basket and praying to Allah for a miracle on election night. Yup, sure sounds like a candidate with the 'upper hand' to me. /s

A better way to look at it is that Romney has stabilized at 50%. He will also pick up some if not most of the undecided vote. Romney may not even need Ohio if he wins Wisconsin. In any event, I think Romney will take Ohio. The popular vote polls reflect nationwide trends. Why should Ohio be any different the rest of the country?

Obama knew that Americans were under attack in Libya and denied their requests for help, then mitigated the evil of the attacking enemy by blaming it on a supposed American youtube video.

This is quintessential treason; no question about it. Obama (and Leon Panetta) should be prosecuted for this rather than contemplating re-election.

Sorry, AP. You will be in for a nice (for us) little surprise on November 7. The Bradley effect will be especially powerful especially for this (half) black candidate whose campaign has made it very much about race and not competence.

The MSM just doesn't have the same power to deceive voters now that it had in 2008. People are very mad with the way the economy is going and despite all the propagandizing, people are still seeing the truth about Obama's incompetence through alternative news media and grassroots networks laid down by TEA party activists. AP and all the other dinosaur media will not be able to lull the conservative voters into complacency again.

However, Obama can still win if he get enough aliens and zombies out, but this is not certain if Romney wins in a landslide. So, he is left with trying to get as many people to vote now before the whole Benghazi scandal blows up in his face.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said little as federal agents seized and then released cattle last week from the Bundy ranch, but there is little doubt that the highly charged episode was threatening to become a political headache for the Nevada Democrat. The Bureau of Land Management is headed by former longtime Reid aide Neil Kornze, who was confirmed by the Senate as BLM director on Tuesday, just as federal authorities descended on the cattle ranch outside Mesquite, Nev. Mr. Kornze issued a statement Saturday saying that the bureau would return the cattle and withdraw its agents from the ranch

On the defensive about their prospects in the midterm elections this fall, congressional Democrats have spent all of April savaging the Republican budget proposal, decrying the Koch brothers and championing a series of bills meant to ingratiate themselves to struggling middle-class voters. In promoting legislation that would extend unemployment benefits, increase the minimum wage and promote equal pay for women, the Democrats have declared themselves the party that will ensure a “fair shot” for all. Republicans, they insist, are the party of special interests. It has been a classic Washington messaging campaign for these partisan

Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. The Obama administration said Friday that it would block Iran’s nominee as ambassador to the United Nations from entering the United States, setting up a new confrontation with Tehran just as relations with the Islamic republic appeared to be improving. The decision to bar entry to the diplomat, who was allegedly involved in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, followed intense political pressure on the administration from Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill. But it also marked a rare instance in which Washington has effectively vetoed another country’s preferred choice as envoy to the United Nations. Iran

Struggling homeowners across the country could face significant new tax bills if they receive mortgage relief from their banks, a prospect that threatens to slow the housing recovery and put further strain on distressed borrowers. The collapse of the housing market and plunging home prices left millions of people stuck owing more on their mortgages than their homes were worth. Some have worked with their banks to reduce the loan amount to avoid foreclosure or enable a sale. In 2007, Congress adopted a law that spared those homeowners from being taxed on the amount of the loan that was forgiven. But

A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today. Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says. ‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar. And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive. The report was published

Say what you will about Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), but they know a train wreck when they see it. They also know when to separate themselves from the cranks and the losers on the right. Although both supported the shutdown and were heartily supported by tea party groups in their own Senate races, neither one has endorsed Matt Bevin in Kentucky, Milton Wolf in Kansas or Chris McDaniel in Mississippi. In fact, Cruz’s office confirms he hasn’t endorsed anyone in the primaries. He may weigh in after the primaries. Rand Paul has endorsed two very establishment

The platform, with few changes, was adopted overwhelmingly as the Las Vegas convention stretched late into the evening. The vote mirrors that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove platform language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion. Many Republicans are re-evaluating their strong stances on conservative social issues as public

A brazen flash mob has been caught on camera storming a California store and making off with $20,000 worth of sunglasses. Surveillance footage shows eight women piling into a Sunglass Hut and crowding around display cases. Shielding workers from what they´re doing, they quickly stuff dozens of fashion specs into their bags. A store clerk pleads with them to stop, before running out of the shot to get help and dial 911. The thieves then all bolt outside and escape in a waiting SUV. The incident occurred at the Valencia Town Center mall, in Santa Clarita, at 3 p.m. on

It’s hardly been a secret that in recent years the moderate center of the Democrat party has been driven away and what remains is a conglomeration of disparate blocs which, to date, the party has been able to treat as if there were no conflicting interests between them. As the midterm elections approach and the administration’s incompetence, along with the distaste for the president’s signature ObamaCare legislation, drive the party’s chances down further, the make-believe coalition of opposites may well crumble if the opposition doesn’t blow it. Democrats hope to retain control of the Senate and recapture the House by driving
