Lack of strike force impeded
Benghazi response

Washington Times, by Rowan Scarborough

As U.S. Africa Command waited for any order to rescue Americans on Sept. 11 at the besieged consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya, it was missing a key unit that the Pentagon gives every regional four-star commander — an emergency strike force. The new command’s lack of such a unit is another piece in the unfolding Benghazi timeline that shows an overriding theme: As radical Islamic extremism swelled in the chaotic coastal city, U.S. security assets in Libya diminished. From the State Department’s denial

'As it turns out, some special operations troops, likely from U.S. European Command, were moved to a naval air station at Sigonella, Sicily, but were never ordered to go farther.'' - article. The attack went on for 7 hours after having been telegraphed for months. NO excuses for not getting some kind of SO force there in time to have some effect.

Back up the bushere! We have had embassies and consulates in North Africa for decades and have been in the embassy protection business for hundreds of years. We had enough military assets in the area to provide some cover for those Americans, only we didn't have the political will to give the order. This is a total failure of character from the White House to the commanders in the area. Just disgraceful!

Drip,drip,drip.

I think this was not a movie critics uprising. It was an al-Qaida operation triggered by a message from Aiman al-Zawahiri of the Muslim Brotherhood. Hillary removed forces that had asked to remain 60 days more. Hussein and Panetta cowardly let Navy Seals Woods and Doherty die for electoral purposes - not admitting al-Qaida is not on its heels. So they concocted the lie of a spontaneous uprising despite having seen the attack on direct TV for hours. Hussein referred to the Innocence of Islam video six times on September 25 in the United Nations General Assembly, no less, Barry Hussein Obama lied to US and to the entire world to help his re-election. And soon his October Surprise attack to some Camel bystander or aspirin factory is coming.

We need to head Hussein off before he wags the dog.

Why were General Ham and Admiral G. Fired by Panetta? Why did Hillary lie with the bodies of her dead lying in front of her? Do you think our country is safe in the hands of this Acorn Communist Organizer?

General Petraeus has washed his hands. General Dempsey is in it at least as deep as Panetta.

And as for the muslims, well, hussein obama said, in The Audacity of Hope, when it comes to the muslims, I will stand with them.

I call BS.

A caller to RUSH said he had previously been stationed in a AfriCom command center and extremis forces were available. They may not have been "assigned" to Gen Ham; but were on the call list.

Someone in AfriCom was manning the ship. They knew what was happening.

Long story; but sound like more cover up.

You know, The world has this idea of what Americans do when our people are at risk. We are the first on site of an international catastrophe. At times of turmoil here at home when dangerous situations arise, we move heaven and earth to rescue and help. It happens time and time again because it is who we are. More than that, our military is known for never leaving any man behind. Without thought to their own safety, our Soldiers commit heroic acts to ensure that their fellow men and women are rescued.

Although I do not have all the facts in the Banghazi situation, I can't for the life of me wrap my brain around the fact that this President and his administration did nothing for seven hours when our people were under direct attack by blood thirsty barbarians who want nothing more than to kill us. Then to find out our Ambassador and the small security team stationed there repeatedly requested more security for months prior to this attack and were denied is beyond belief. Obama and his cronies have committed acts that have trampled our Constitution, but that all pales in comparison to this dereliction of duty by the CIC, SECDEF, and Secretary of State. What we are seeing played out on the world stage is total incompetence brought on by political expediency and Obama must be held accountable. He is a disgrace to the office of the Presidency of the United States of America.

Obama wanted that video to be blamed so badly he repeated over and over the video was the cause and the US government had nothing to do with it. The video maker was arrested and will be held until after the election. As far as I know, there has been no communication with the video maker, no questions asked of him. That just seems strange to me.

The Washington Times tries to identify a middle path. They cover parts of the story and float some new excuses that regular assets weren't available. If the full story breaks out they won't look like they were totally in the President's pocket.

One thing to keep in mind is that the only way Qaddafi's forces were dispersed was by our air power. At some point they will regroup. I've always suspected them in this attack.

I wish some posters would stop trying to embellish this sad tale with unneeded exaggerations. It is not necessary, it is plenty bad already without trying to make it worse with.

The most common exaggeration is that 2 Navy Seals were killed. Not true. While both of these brave men died American heroes, neither of them were Seals. They were ex-Seals and no longer even in the military. When they died they were working as mercenaries for a private company. When it hit the fan, their Seal training enabled two of them to hold off hundreds of crazed muslims for hours.

I am not denigrating these brave men in any way, I just don't want to help the libs. The libs will seize on something like this and use it to dismiss the whole thing as nothing but a right-wing rant.

So they had the asset (Drone) to send to watch the Embassy burn and four Americans die but no additional resources to send? Kinda curious what type of Drone was it? Could it be armed? Was it armed? At this point in the game I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

He was not raised in America or by Americans (his mother and her parents were American in name only, they were Communists), has no history as an American and cares nothing about American history. I don't think it's ranting to call the ex-Seals Seals; everyone understands that they were former Seals, but it's a shorthand way of describing them. But also, seems to me ex-Seals are like ex-Marines, no "ex" about it; you're one for life.

One has to wonder how on earth this incompetant narcissistic person in the WH is Allowed Permitted to control who is to die or not die. This idiot was adamamant that the Benghazi murder of Consulate US Personel were not to be helped, Remember Obama was shooting off his mouth to the world a week or so before Benghazi that it was ME ME that had killed OSAMA and other El Quada top brass. This El Quada Benghazi afilliate were hopping mad at Obama and on the 19 th sept they planned and executed the killing and destruction of our Consulate. They did not pick the week before or the week after it was on the day OSAMA murdered 3000 innocemt people in the USA perished injured or burnt to death. To cover his OSAMA death boasting he had to insure that Libya was tranquil and no El Quada .Obama pertetuated a lie that the spontaneous mob was the result of the anti Muslim video. Obama over a week was still trying to claim that consulate burning and deaths was due to the video.Fighter jets could have been ordered from Sigonella Sicily within 15 mins flight time their presence would have deterrred the attackers to back off the Consulate, Slower transports with shock troops marines or green beret would then be lowered into the Consulate compound. Again how can this individual be allowed to wait and see in real time the certain deaths of these heroes. As a father of one of them said better to die as a heroe than live as a coward.Ex Navy myself OBAMA SHOULD BE COURT MARTIALED.

President Obama kicked off the week in Connecticut with a rallying cry for new gun control measures hand-in-hand with Sandy Hook parents. This afternoon, Obama sat down in the Oval Office with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel — who, with a military, civilian, and contractor work force on edge about their jobs, is tasked with unveiling what could be a punishing presidential budget for the Pentagon tomorrow. Over at the Senate tonight, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) filed cloture on the motion to proceed to the gun-control package, which means

President Obama will unveil his 2014 spending plan Wednesday, 65 days late and several trillion dollars short, by Republican standards, of effectively reining in the national debt. But the more relevant fact about the White House budget may be the yawning political void into which it is about to fall on Capitol Hill. Administration officials say their plan offers a path to compromise, a centrist course that avoids the extreme spending cuts of the House Republican budget as well as the $1 trillion tax hike endorsed last month by Senate Democrats. The president’s proposal contains the same set of policies

It seems very odd that President Obama has made gun control the signature issue of his second term, so far. He can’t possibly achieve any significant legislation; a few tweaks to the background check system, maybe, but there is no chance of getting any meaningful gun control through the House. The House Democrats aren’t even trying. So it also seems strange that all eyes are on the Senate, where Harry Reid will unveil some sort of gun legislation–no one knows what, exactly–on Thursday. The party’s left-wing base is lining up behind the bill, sight unseen.

In a poll conducted by PoliceOne, a majority of law enforcement personnel said universal background checks, "assault weapons" bans, and "high capacity" magazine bans do not make police safer and will not lower violent crime. Armed citizens, on the other hand, do make a positive difference. In the poll of 15,000 law enforcement professionals, 71% of respondents said an "assault weapons" ban would have zero impact on violent crime. Of those surveyed, 95.7% said the same of a "high capacity" magazine ban, and 79.7% said the same in response to a question on universal background checks.

Margaret Thatcher captured Americans’ hearts and minds in a way few other foreign leaders have done, and much of that was because of the symbiotic relationship she had with President Reagan — a relationship that in many ways mirrored the storied “special” friendship between the two countries. Mrs. Thatcher, who died Monday at age 87, was a tough-talking maverick who was bullish on the promise of the U.S. as a force on the international stage. Those traits appealed to Americans weary of the 1970s malaise and eager to hear reasons to believe in themselves. “She had the perfect balance between

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

More than 700 Special Operations veterans are urging members of Congress to back a select committee to investigate last year’s Benghazi terrorist attack, according to a letter first obtained by Fox News. The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

President Barack Obama is bringing 11 relatives of those killed in the shooting at Connecticut´s Sandy Hook Elementary School to Washington on Air Force One on Monday so they can personally encourage senators to back gun legislation that faces tough opposition. A nonprofit organization that works with the families, Sandy Hook Promise, said that after Obama´s speech on gun control in Hartford, he is flying with relatives of seven children and one staffer killed during December´s massacre at the school. There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Amid all of the very real threats of war and stuff from North Korea, you´d think American intelligence officers want as much video footage of the enemy as possible. Well, here is one video featuring North Korean exercises and Kim Jong-Un holding a gun, and we´ll say this: they certainly get points for presentation. Remember the clap-happy report from Dennis Rodman´s diplomatic basketball vacation? This video comes courtesy of the same Youtube channel that gave us that Rodman video. The case of a same-sex Connecticut couple accused of repeatedly raping and abusing two of their nine adopted boys is headed for trial. Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault....
