JAKARTA, Indonesia — The Indonesian counterterrorism police conducted a series of raids over the weekend leading to the arrests of 11 people accused of planning terrorist attacks on several high-profile targets, including the American Embassy here. A police spokesman said that those arrested were part of a relatively new group, the Sunni Movement for Indonesian Society, also known as Hasmi, and that it had been plotting to attack the embassy in Jakarta; the United States Consulate in Surabaya in eastern Java;

I guess the mooks in 0bama's childhood homeland didn't hear that we have arrested the dude who made that "disgusting" video the administration kept advertising. Perhaps 0bama ought to take his teleprompter to Jakarta and apologize.

But, wait. How can the NYT possibly print a story that accuses 11 people of terrorism when it might just be a communication breakdown, a spontaneous revolt or even an offensive video?

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Tuesday it could be a boon for the GOP if Hillary Clinton ran for president in 2016 due to all the “scandal” that surrounds her. The GOP´s campaign chief called Clinton a “very political person who makes decisions based on how the wind blows.” “I’m not sure,” Priebus told CNN when asked if Clinton would be the Democratic nominee in 2016. “But with all of the scandal around her, I’m not so sure it would be all that bad for the Republican Party, to tell you the truth.” The RNC head was reacting to excerpts from

BEIRUT — The death of Osama bin Laden did not end the spread of al-Qaeda, say analysts. It may have even helped it. The chaos of the Arab Spring revolutions, al-Qaeda´s shift to a more bottom-up structure and a perceived pullback of U.S. influence in the Middle East are behind the spread of America´s No. 1 enemy in the world, say several analysts who study the core group in Pakistan and affiliates who swear allegiance to it. The latest and most stark example came this week in Iraq, where al-Qaeda militants seized control of government buildings and districts of Fallujah

SAN FRANCISCO — House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi visited a City College of San Francisco campus Monday to express support for the embattled school and to encourage potential students to sign up for classes during the open enrollment period currently under way. Pelosi, who was City College´s commencement speaker in 2011, appeared at the school´s Chinatown/North Beach campus. The school is facing the possible loss of its accreditation because of a decision last July by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, which found that the school had failed to adequately implement needed reforms.

Global warming may be contributing to the "polar vortex" causing frigid temperatures across most of the nation on Monday, according to some climate change researchers. While it seems counter-intuitive, the research argues that plunging temperatures could come from changes in the jet stream caused by climate change. Rutgers University climate scientist Jennifer A Francis has released a number of papers about changes in the jet stream brought about by warming Arctic temperatures. Her conclusions suggest that warming Arctic air caused by greenhouse gas emissions has caused changing to the jet stream that is pushing colder Arctic air further south, causing temperatures to plunge

Early last summer in her Georgian-style home near Washington’s Embassy Row, Hillary Clinton met with a handful of aides for a detailed presentation on preparing for a 2016 presidential campaign. They broke down filing deadlines in certain states, projected how much money Clinton would need to raise and described how field operations have become more sophisticated in the era of Barack Obama.

Maximum emissions would be reduced by one-third next year and by 80 percent in five years, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported. Fine particulate pollution is made up of solid particles and liquid droplets that measure 2.5 micrometers in diameter or less. The EPA currently certifies non-catalytic wood stoves if they produce less than 7.5 grams of fine particulate per hour. Fine particulate absorbed by breathing has
