Yeah, I was going to say that we were always told to beware of this when I was a kid 40 years ago. I am sure there must have been one or two incidents of something bad happening. The reason is there are so many nuts out there, the odds are good that one of them would do something. Maybe I am just cynical and jaded because of all the other things that happen to children on other days of the year. But it never hurts to be careful.

Well I haven't investigated it like this criminologist did, but I believe his research. Why? As a criminologist, I have never heard of a random poisoning in any circumstance that was not tied to certain other motives- economic gain, terrorism- whether political or some type of religious fanatacism, or personal- like some of the tylenol killings turned out to be, one was personal and the others were staged to hide the personal one (that was in the NW and not the IL cases which have never been solved).

What the heck is going on here? My SISTER was poisoned in 1968 by Halloween candy, although she survived. And strangely enough, we only went trick or treating twice as kids, my mom always threw a big Halloween party.
Kids were never poisoned by tainted candy? Give me a break.

You guys DO know that Snopes is like 3 people and it has been proven wrong, right?
You do know that police don't post cases from the 1960s and 1970s on the Internet, don't you?
My sister was violently sick from an undetermined poison in her Halloween candy. They were not able to trace the people who did this because my sister went with a group (to be safe sadly) and could not remember where the candy came from. In my very same neighborhood, a number of dogs that were outside alot were poisoned and died, and we always thought whoever was behind that was behind poisoning candy.
Next we'll hear reports that there has never really been any child molestations.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends. Winters was a pioneer of improvisational standup comedy, with an exceptional gift for mimicry, a grab bag of eccentric personalities and a bottomless reservoir of creative energy.
