Presidential race tied in Ohio newspaper poll

| Dead heat. This close. And with almost no voters saying they’re undecided. That’s how things look in the presidential race, according to the most recent Akron Beacon Journal/Ohio Newspaper Organization poll. President Barack Obama, 49 percent. Republican challenger Mitt Romney, ditto. One remaining percent for “other,” and one more for “don’t know.” And all within the margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent. This is a major change from a similar poll a month ago, when Obama held a 51-46 percent lead over Romney. The reason may be shifts in key parts of the electorate.

Dead heat..razor close..bla bla bla...they keep blaring these headlines at us when other polls are showing Romney pulling ahead, esp with Independents. It seems no amount of reasoning is going to stop the media from proclaiming this to be the closest race in history, if only to help undermine Romney's win. If, and its a HUGE if, the race in OH is actually as close as they are claiming it is, then we all know the donks are going to pull out ALL the cheat cards they have up their sleeves. Either way, there is no substitute for our GOTV effort in OH and in every state. Get out and Vote, everyone!

Another way of looking at it. Obama was 5 points ahead of Romney and now they are dead even. That means Romney has gained 5 points. Now he will overtake him and win.

I'm truly worried about vote fraud in Ohio. Fraud only works if the race is very close, so we should cross our fingers for Romney to prevail by several points. The silver lining is that Romney now shows he can win even without Ohio. This is going to be ok, my friends.

"47 percent Democrat, 44 percent Republican and 10 percent independent."
Way oversamples democrats, even if you believe that there's a 3 point dem advantage, which there isn't. If anything like 2004 it would be 35 dem/35 rep/30 ind.

democrats poured enormouse resources into Ohio. They bombarded Romney with negative ads before the Romney campaign had traction to respond. I suspect the democrats have also concentrated their dirty tricks e.g. vote fraud efforts in Ohio. To Romney's credit he has mostly overcome the lead zippy apparently established in this critical state. As poster one said the GOTV is critical. Pray that the good guys prevail.

The Romney tide is swelling... Des Moine paper endorsement...Article on Salon, urging Progressives to vote 3rd party, giving a coherent argument on how Obama is decimating the middle class.
I am beginning to think Obama can't steal enough to have a close result. Our secret weapon this election is the massive # of Christian churches, urging their flocks to vote their Christian beliefs. I'm praying... really, really hard.

It appears that papers all over the country are endorsing the Romney/Ryan ticket as the only sensible route to America's future. Here in the battleground state of Ohio, the Cincinnati Enquirer has today endorsed the Romney/Ryan ticket. Only looney tune papers like the NY Times and the LA Times cling to the failed policies of Obman/Biden. I suppose they want to keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome! The Enquirer posts a poll that shows a dead heat in the presidential race. Here in SW Ohio, we are all in for Rommey/Ryan. Cleveland Democrats have fled the city/county there like rats from a sinking ship. I forecast Ohio will go for Romeny/Ryan and give them the boost they need to win the White House. Romney/Ryan in Nov. for a better America.

I live in an upscale neighborhood in a suburb of Erie, Pa. Last week, during the night, every Romney Ryan sign in a 10 blocxk area of the neighborhood.was defaced with a blue O painted on each side of it. It had to have been an organized effort. Now I await November 6, to see if there is any bullying at our polling place, a church. I have this suspicion that there will be some black lads standing at the entrance to the church. And I will report back to fellow l dotters and apologize if I was wrong.

WASHINGTON- Retail sales contracted in March for the second time in three months, a sign the American economy may have stumbled at the end of the first quarter. Retail sales fell 0.4 percent during the month, the Commerce Department said on Friday. That was below analysts´ expectations that sales would be flat. Readings for retail sales have been volatile so far this year, making it difficult to know whether the weakness in March was due to a tax hike that went into effect at the start of the year or to temporary factors related to the weather.

Senate Democrats are hesitating to honor the former prime minister of Great Britain who, along with President Reagan and Pope John Paul II, tackled communism. This is particularly galling in light of the fact that 16 Republicans crossed the aisle to vote for cloture on the Democrats´ gun control bill, today. Heritage Action reports: A Senate resolution to honor Lady Thatcher was supposed to pass last night. However, per well placed sources on the Hill, Democrats have a hold on the resolution. To refuse to honor a woman of such great historical and political significance,

Hours after First Lady Michelle Obama tearfully mourned the death of a 15-year-old girl who was shot in her Chicago hometown a second girl of the same age and in the same city has been critically wounded by gunfire. The unidentified girl was shot near her stomach around 1pm on the South Side of the city´s Grand Crossing neighborhood, roughly four miles south of where Hadiya Pendleton was killed on January 29. Just about 20 minutes later a 27-year-old man was shot in the leg in the same neighborhood, the Chicago Tribune reports.

More than 3,300 crosses, Stars of David and Islamic symbols were installed on the National Mall Thursday as peace activists created a mock cemetery to honor victims of gun violence. Organizers said the number of markers was chosen to honor the victims of gun violence who have died since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. At 11:30 a.m., religious leaders from across the country -- including some from Newtown -- began a 24-hour vigil among the grave markers, a protest aimed at lawmakers as they began to vote on a set of new gun restrictions.

Like a lot of high school sophomores, 15-year-old Ashley Baldwin found a job. Baldwin, however, wasn´t working retail or fast-food. She was doing ultrasounds, administering intravenous medicine and, ultimately, assisting in abortions performed by West Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell. Baldwin, now 22, and the mother of a two-year-old, today told a Philadelphia jury hearing Gosnell´s murder trial of her unusual hands-on medical apprenticeship. She also told of seeing at least five aborted babies moving, breathing and, in one case, "screeching," after procedures at Gosnells´ Women´s Medical Society clinic at 3801 Lancaster Ave.

The House Republican campaign chief came under fire from senior members of his own party on Thursday after he split with party leaders in criticizing a Social Security change in President Obama’s budget that Republicans have long sought. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, on Wednesday called a proposed cut to Social Security a “shocking assault on seniors,” hours after Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) had praised the president for offering the same policy change, known as chained CPI.

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
