Why A Mormon Is Perfectly
Suited To Be President

Business Insider, by Matt Hopkins

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 10/28/2012 5:35:05 AM

Mormons are unlikely patriots. We are a faith that was founded in the youth of the nation, forged in the desert of the West, and matured along with the country that we call home. Our history is complicated, but consistently we have proved loyal to the United States of America. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, better known as Mormonism, started in New York, moved to the midwest and eventually settled what is now known as Utah. We made these moves not because we wanted to be secretive, but because we were persecuted for our faith.

Old rule of thumb is if you want to be a loser, hang around with losers. If you want to be a winner, hand around with winners.

obama is a loser (never has done anything on his own, never helped anybody. Only thing he has ever won at is elections, where he just conned people.)

Romney is a winner in everything he has tried.

I don't care what "religion" he has in his Wikipedia entry. Romney is a good man, perhaps destined to be a great man.

Dick Morris has been saying for several months that Romney will win in a landslide and will become the heir to President Ronald Reagan.

An interesting rewrite of history. Mormons were not persecuted for their faith in the classic sense, but because of breaking the law. The brutal massacre of several hundred settlers at the command of Bringham Young also comes to mind. This is not a statement that all Mormons are therefore unfit for government, but lets get the facts straight, One un intended consequence of a Romney presidency will be the normalization of Mormonism as a Christian religion. Holy Moroni.

The Mormon religion has some black marks, as do all religions. I have a great respect for the Mormon religion. From personal observation, Mormons are a credit to their community and country.

As with witches in the land of Oz, and anything else, there are good Mormons and bad Mormons. The biggest nutcase I ever knew was LDS, and her religion had nothing to do with it. Mitt Romney is the only reasonable alternative to for more years of disastrous liberal misgovernance. And his religion has nothing to do with it.

Regarding the 'protect and defend the Constitution of the United States' oath taken by the President. I did a search of the word 'protect' in the Constitution. I occurs only twice. Once in the definition of the presidential oath. Second, it commands the federal government to protect the States should they be invaded.(not a lot of that kind of protection going on) The Constitution doesn't demand protection of the individual by the federal govt, rather, It (The Constitution) provides for our 'protection' from the federal government. e.g. Congress shall make no law...

#7, I would add too that the second amendment is another safeguard in the constitution that allows we the people to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government.

I expect another good that could come from Mitt Romney being president is that it would cause us all to look at Mormonism more. The LSM did not expose LDS doctrines (that would shock most Americans) as many of us predicted. They must have done enough focus research that told them this would backfire. But after Romney is in office, the LSM will have nothing better to do than expose it, & pick on every slight he does wrong, in order to replace him with their next socialist in four years.

LDS doctrines are secretive, Matt Hopkins, although most of your members couch it as "sacred". I welcome the sunlight being applied so more LDS members & those they recruit, would wake up to these erroneous beliefs that are not preparing you for an eternity with Heavenly Father, but rather, God's judgement.

And although I know I will be flamed for this post (as a bigot), I also know that LDS believe we, mainstream Christians, are the ones who are doomed unless we convert to LDS in this life, or, in the afterlife while we are in "spiritual prison". So who's the bigot?

My heart breaks for people who are spiritually imprisoned in dogma that is patently not found anywhere in God's Word! And I know & love many. Jesus Christ is not our brother -- He is the only reason we can stand in the presence of a Holy Divine Being when we die. He Who was always perfect & created the universe made a way for us to be perfect. We only have to surrender to that perfection. No more striving for it in our own strength.

Denver-based CNN journalist Jim Spellman says the total lack of media coverage of the legal travails faced by Fox News reporter Jana Winter for protecting her sources clearly demonstrates an anti-Fox News bias in the press. Spellman claimed in a tweet that if Winter, who faces a subpoena and potential contempt of court charges for protecting her sources, worked for the New York Times instead of Fox News, the case would be garnering far greater exposure. “Observation: If @janawinter, who may go to jail to protect sources, worked for @nytimes instead of @FoxNews the case would be huge,” Spellman tweeted Sunday night.

In the U.K., private ownership of firearms is virtually banned. Professional criminals can still get guns, of course, but for your typical thug, knives are the weapon of choice. Thus there has been a steady outpouring of concern over burgeoning “knife crime” in recent years. The Sun undertook a bit of investigative journalism to find out how easy it is to obtain knives illegally, and was shocked at the result: LETHAL swords, machetes and knives are being sold illegally to children — with no questions asked. Obama will release his budget this week, and we already know that he´s going to try to stake out a treacherous "middleground" as he attempts to cast himself as a bold centrist, willing to stand apart from leftist Democrats. He´ll do so by, reportedly, introducing a Chained CPI, which is a way of cutting Social Security by using a different inflation measure that won´t rise as much. Liberals are already livid. Congressman Jerry Nadler — who is part of the Democratic party´s Progressive Caucus — slammed the reports in a comment made on Friday: I am quite concerned by reports

While politicians talk about expanding background checks for gun owners, I’m starting to think that what we really need are IQ tests for political officeholders. The only problem is, that might leave us with a lot of vacancies in Congress and America’s statehouses. The debacle over New York’s rushed-through gun bill is one example of what happens when enthusiasm meets stupid. But another is to be found in Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), who supports a ban on full-capacity magazines without understanding what a magazine actually is. Last week, DeGette justified her position this way: “I will tell you these are ammunition,

Secretary of State John Kerry is worth some $200 million, give or take a yacht. So his decision to slap a 5% pay cut on himself in solidarity with government employees squeezed by sequestration won’t likely hurt him much. But he’s saving taxpayers another way, too — if unintentionally. And it’s downright troubling. How else is Kerry saving money? He’s failing to hire folks to fill key spots at his agency. Terrific. Think about it: With the North Koreans threatening nuclear strikes against America — and Kerry himself preparing to visit South Korea this week — wouldn’t it be a tad helpful

And even worse, the labor force participation rate plunged from an already abysmal 63.5% to 63.3% - the lowest since 1979!But at least it helped with the now painfully grotesque propaganda

Going with his parental gut, President Obama applauded in 2011 when Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius barred girls under 17 from obtaining the morning-after pill without a prescription. He pictured 10- and 11-year-olds buying pregnancy prevention medicine as easily as bubble gum and drew a line. “As the father of two daughters, it makes sense to apply some common sense,” the President said. It would take superspin powers to portray the March jobs report as anything other than a huge step in the wrong direction. The US economy added just 88,000 jobs last month, 95,000 in the private sector as public payrolls fell by 7,000. The official unemployment rate ticked down a tenth of a point to 7.6%. 1. That is a paltry number of jobs, more or less matching assumed labor force growth per month. So the economy must add at least that many jobs just to keep the labor market at current depressed levels.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”
