Paul Ryan has hijacked
the Left’s righteous rage

Evening Standard [UK], by Thomas Frank

Original Article

There is only one Issue before the public, one grand recognition that defines our time — the sense, drummed into our heads during the bank bailouts of 2008 and 2009, that the fix is in. Regardless of which party holds the majority, we now know, Washington is in the hands of the oligarchy. Arguments over this issue are well-nigh everywhere on the nation’s streets. In general, however, the men at the top of the tickets do not go there. Only one of the national candidates is willing to acknowledge what’s on the public’s mind, and this is what makes Republican vice-presidential

Comments:
If R and R win, the selection of Paul Ryan to the ticket will be admired and studied for years to come. To me it shows that Romney has courage, vision, and a goal to get things done.

Not a flattering article but it accurately defines the fear progressives have of Ryan's strength.

Oh, boo-hoo. The big reason Obama is losing is because he lost control of the narrative -- his own, and that of his opponents, and the issues.

Team Romney did its homework, and, having established key performance indicators worthy of any business / political leader, stayed focused and disciplined.

The noise we are hearing now is the banshee wail of leftists as they are chased out of office and into the desert.

Frank is a Marxist to the core, and a total loon. Trying to follow his "logic" will usually hurt a normal person's head. Ignore the idiot, he sees everything through RED glasses. VERY warped mind and viewpoint, never worth much time at all and then only for a laugh in wonderment at his disconnnect from reality.

Ryan is real, it just irritates a fool like Frank that he is talking to "his" people - the working man. In Frank's mind, only the Marxists can 'speak for' and thereby control the 'working class'. He just is totally BAFFLED (see his foolish book "What's the Matter with Kansas" where I live and know many of the people he wrote about, with hilarious confusion and misunderstanding) when the "working class" doesn't vote solidly Marxist. He really DOES use all the old language of the Bolsheviks, too. "Righteous rage" - a perfect example.

I am surprised nobody commented on the article yet. I was the first one! Frank is obviously a hardline socialist. He has no clue what he is talking about. And like all leftists, he knows NOTHING about economics or finance!! Leftists drive me nuts with their phony superiority complex. This guy is dripping with condescension.

Frank must be worried? His article is so very trite. He abhors clear thinking like Ryan's. It would destroy his vision of the world. Which with I agree!

#3, you said it so well.

I noticed the line Frank used: "the flagrantly rigged casino of American economic life" and figured that he's against freedom.

"the flagrantly rigged casino of American economic life" - with this line Mr. Frank exposes himself as a liberal socialist whiner so common in Europe. He cannot grasp that heavily regulating banking to legalize theft equally among banks is far more evil than relying on the marketplace to sort out the bad banks. Liberal socialism has failed because it places no value on the individual, but embraces the least common demoninator of society. Oddly liberals embrace evolution, but abhor social survival of the fittest. Darwin would have voted for Ryan. He would have found Mr. Frank a backward blockheaded political creationist.

“Where do I go for my amnesty?” One reason I got interested in the immigration issue was the similarity between the … well, let’s call it Liberal BS of the welfare reform debate and the BS of the immigration debate. Defenders of welfare used to argue, for example, that high benefits, or promises of training rather than required work, didn’t attract people onto the dole. Obvious BS. While extending the payroll tax cut through the end of last year, members of Congress last fall took what many feel was a long overdue whack at the cost of their retirement plan. They bumped up the rate at which federal employees contribute to their pension plan, saving an estimated $15 billion over the next 11 years. They also made sure that none of the increase applied to themselves. Anyone in service before the law went into effect would pay into the pension plan at the old rate. Mindful of the repeated rounds of cuts the military has already endured, Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, recently delivered a grim warning: "If you want [the military] to be doing what it´s doing today, then we can´t give you another dollar." His worries reflect reductions that started in 2009 and have reached crippling levels, even in President Obama´s proposals to avert sequestration. I take the general at his word, but I am concerned that the president does not. Sequester hurts national security, not just because 50% of the cuts fall on the military´s 18% share of the overall

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.

Is media bias to blame for lack of Gosnell coverage? Or something far more banal? The trial of Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell would seem to have all the elements of a spectacular news story: shocking allegations, horrifying visuals, sympathetic victims. Yet until late last week, much of the national media was silent as testimony about Gosnell’s alleged “house of horrors” abortion clinic rolled out. Much of the media attention outside Philadelphia, in fact, centered on how little media attention the story was receiving outside Philadelphia.
