| There have been two shootings today on I-96 in Livingston County that law enforcement officials believe are connected to 22 other shootings that occurred during a three-day period earlier this month. One man was struck in his buttocks, marking the first injury in the shootings, which police believe is the work of one man firing a handgun, mostly at motorists, while he drives.(Snip) He said preliminary findings indicate the gunman may have been on westbound 96 shooting across the expressway. Curious; there's enough information for a composite sketch, but "for some reason" news sources are not fleshing this out with a written description that might help him get caught before he kills someone with his potshots.
A user comment in one article claimed to be from an eyewitness, saying this is a Middle Eastern male. White guy would probably be national news; this appears to be of local interest only (during election season and all).

New York — Federal mortgage payment relief has been extended up to one year for more than 200,000 homeowners whose houses were damaged by Superstorm Sandy. U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan announced the extension for homeowners with Federal Housing Administration-insured loans on Friday. A previous mortgage payment extension for federally-backed home loans was set to expire on April 30. About 286,000 homeowners with FHA-insured loans were affected by the late October storm, with nearly 96,000 in New York. Donovan said the 12-month extension was meant to help homeowners still struggling to rebuild avoid foreclosure.

The Navy’s cancellation of Blue Angels 2013 air shows extends past the federal fiscal year ending in September means the November 1-2 Homecoming Show at Pensacola Naval Air Station has been scrapped too. “It’s not just the fiscal year,” said Navy Lt. While the media are bearing the brunt of public skepticism over the handling of the Boston bombing, the behavior of government is also eroding public trust. Yesterday´s promised but cancelled news briefing is just one symptom. Andrew McCarthy of PJM notes that "Misinformation rather than enlightenment has been the order of the day in the investigation of Monday´s terrorist bombing of the Boston Marathon," and that part of it is the natural outgrowth of the desire of investigators to keep the details of their investigations secret, so as not to alert suspects.
