Why did Obama choose to
“stand down” in Benghazi?

Power Line, by Paul Mirengoff

Original Article

Posted By:Dreadnought, 10/27/2012 6:27:31 PM

As John and Scott point out, the CIA has issued a statement making it clear that “no one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need [in Benghazi]; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.” That statement surely was issued with the approval, and presumably at the direction, of the CIA’s director, General Petraeus. Who, then, made the several decisions denying help to the Americans in Benghazi who needed it? Who, initially, told CIA to “stand down” in face of the attack? Who decided that American defense forces an hour or two away

Clearly, he was more concerned about hurting muslims than in protecting Americans.

It would appear that this story is not going to go away because American lives were betrayed for political reasons.

The story from Benghazi has grown far uglier.
Our soldiers on the ground, heroes really, were abandoned in the face of an Al Qaeda attack.
Planes were available, but air support was forbidden.
Two former SEALs, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty saved dozens of American lives, fought for 7 hours, but died after being refused help.
The rest is Obama spin, lies and coverup.
The complicit media is just trying to keep the lid on this outrage for another week and a half.

I'm not sure about Paul's logic here. Obama doesn't seem to have any qualms about firing Hellfire missiles from drones in Yemen and Pakistan. I think there may be another reason why the decision was made to stand down.

I don't buy it. When in doubt rely on the advice of your military advisers. The situation in Benghazi seemed pretty straight forward. Men on the ground are under attack and asking for help. Ambassador is missing. You send help, that's what you do.

George W Bush was accused of withholding aid to people in the path of Katrina because they were black. I see only white faces in the pictures of the four killed in Libya. So the logical answer to the question posed by the writer is that Obama hates white people. (If the Bush haters can spread this meme I can too.)

FTA

" ... the administration has not been forthcoming or honest in its discussion of Benghazi after the fact ... "

Fact is, he was sound asleep when the decision to 'stand down' was made and the only question remaining is ...

... who gave that order?

PIAPS has claimed responsibility but denies she made that call.

The military in that loop and the CIA have also denied responsibility.

There's only one person who could have made that call ...

... the de facto POTUS Valerie Jarrett.

That is the most troubling of all and every American citizen should be outraged.

I am cluing in all of my liberal friends ...

... the whole matter is news to them.

Do the same.

Pass it along to everyone you know.

Benghazi is a game changer.

Valerie or not, Obama is the CIC and the order is his. He should be asked the simple question. Did you order a stand down? He cannot duck with the "we need an investigation" to answer whether or not he issued the order. Either way he should be toast.

This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Libya!

Gotta get down to it,
Muslims are gunning us down,

What if you knew him and
Found him dead on the ground?
How can you run when you know?

Obama says “No one’s coming,”

This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Libya!

Four dead in Libya!
Four dead in Libya!

In case you haven't noticed, Obama has relieved two leading generals in the middle east in the last 24 hours. The suggestion is that they tried to send help - and were relieved of duty by junior officers, presumably on orders from the JCS or White House.

Maybe Obama just likes making people dead. He did get a big kick out of killing OBL.

Then, there is the story that was in the NYT this summer about his shuffling his terrorist deck of cards and picking out a the next drone strike kill.

The rumor about the planned capture of Ambassador Stevens is more plausible than anything coming out of the administration. The rumor being that the ambassador was supposed to be captured, not killed, and then later exchanged for the blind sheik. When he was killed, the wh panicked and didn't know how to deal with that or what to say. This would explain the stand down order and a number of other things related to Benghazi. I'm not paranoid enough to believe this rumor exactly as stated. But, something fishy certainly occurred.

Beginning to wonder if the anti-muslim film was made ahead of time (on purpose!) to provide an alibi for the Ambassador's capture. The director of the film is muslim. Maybe this blind sheik release was planned for months.

The question to ask is why was the Turkish Ambassador at the compound that night and in that (unsafe) city in Libya. Glenn Beck said last week (Monday?) he thought it was about gun running - Libya to Turkey to Syria. Fox's Catherine Herridge said the same Saturday (10.27.12) evening. I thought it crazy when I heard Beck say it especially since we are nowhere near closing out Fast and Furious. Makes some sense, but we need more info - which we aren't going to get from POTUS.

I am posting this every chance I get - and I hope everyone will help me. We can't help those our government abandoned, but we can surely raise a ruckus.

I believe each and every one of us should be hitting as many news outlets' websites as possible and make comments - even copy some of the wonderful comments on this page - I think every one of us should do this every day until the election results are announced. I think we should absolutely drown them in our comments - leave no doubt what we think of this travesty.

I believe we should be blistering to every comment that flatters the Administration until we KNOW what was and was not done and said. And I believe politeness has left us forever because no one in DC has earned one teeny bit of politeness.

Media must have SOME value. There will be more people hear us if we bang on THEIR door, and especially if we continually bang without letup.

I AM MAD.

Seems the plan was to have the entire embassy crew kidnapped in a bargain deal so Obama could rescue them right before the election. But two very brave Americans screwed that up for Obama especially taking out 60+ of the co-conspirators and making them extremely angry. That theory sounded ridiculous to me at one time, but is starting to look like a true motive considering the events and actions or inactions that took place.

Boy do I ever see a major movie coming out of this event. May God show the real truth to all very soon.

This is why I have always rejected Obie's ability to lead. He can't lead. Never could. This is why he needs the teleprompter and the msm to make him look good. Benghazi was another example of his leading from behind.

Ok..but, let's try to look at it with open eyes for minute. Sure, everyone makes mistakes at times. But...covering up your mistakes and with the willing assistance of a complicit msm is absolutely disgusting. All he had to do was come clean and tell us he blew it. But, no, his political backside was more important because he thought Benghazi would cost him the election - and it still will.

This is the kind of garbage we do not need in the WH and it is time to purge Washington of this terrible ineptitude. What we ultimately do with the msm is another matter.

This decision(like all the important ones) was made by ValJar. Her prints are all over it. We have been told(and nobody nay said) that ValJar stoped the OBL kill several times before Panneta & Hilary went over the White House to make the call. If she was afraid to take out OBL years before the big vote, can you imagine the panic at doing it a month before? What if it failed. How could they blame Bush?

Obama knew that if he gave the order to the military or CIA operatives to go in and do what they could to save these people, his lapdogs in the media would have no choice to cover the story.

It would have been a messy situation, unlike the Seal Team 6 precision strike in taking down bin laden He doesn't like messy situations with uncertain outcomes this close to the election. Because of his indecision, four brave Americans paid the price.

I have seen many say that Obama was asleep when the order was given to "stand down", that it was Jarrett that gave the order, but it has been reported that we know who was in the situation room at the time of the attacks. They started around 5PM Eastern time. Once a American ambassador is under attack, the highest alert is triggered. This is from those who have served in capacities that know, dont take my word for it. There is only 1 person that can stop the help that is in place when one of our consulates is under attack.. and that is the president. Who came up with the video lie may well have been Jarrett or another lackey. The response had political overtones to it, but the facts of the events are just that.. facts. I believe they will all come out, because thankfully there are enough good people who love this country more than what party sits in the oval office. To think there are still many in harms way that rely on this man to see they are protected is an outrage. They now know if push comes to shove.. his own skin is all that matters to him. How disgraceful.

Do a net search for Libyan Investment Authority and you will find in March 2011 Geithner's Treasury froze and announced $30billion in Gadhafi assets in the US (largest seizure ever but the real figure was $53billion)...this was a small pittance of the $260billion he amassed over a 5 year period before he was toppled....Secy Clinton and UN Amb Rice announce releasing this sum to the rebel's Transitional National Council to fund weapons etc. before he was killed...Follow the money!

Ldotters are not reading widely enough ....

The very credible Western Center for Journalism - a project of the equally credible Joseph Farah has it in a simple to understand nutshell -

Benghazi Attack Was Botched Kidnapping To Trade Blind Sheik

"Stand Down!" makes sense if you're trying to get this Benghazi incident off the ground, and then makes more sense if you cannot have US personel arriving on-site to figure it out

Look away from where the media are pointing you. Look the other way. It's all misdirection.

"Kristol goes on to ask: 'When and why—and based on whose counsel obtained in what meetings or conversations—did President Obama decide against sending in military assets to help the Americans in need?'

The key question is 'why.'”

Why indeed. Some have posited that it was a botched fake kidnapping of Stevens, set up to trade him for the Blind Sheik. I have suggested that, since we know they had advance notice of the video protests, that they thought the Benghazi attack was part of that, and they had a whole anti-American, anti-Christian narrative ready to roll out.

Each theory has an underlying common denominator. In fact, one must almost assume it before even beginning to attempt to answer Kristol's question. It is this: Obama ordered the military to stand down, and would not allow Americans to fire upon the Benghazi attackers, because Obama viewed the attackers as "friendlies." Nothing else makes sense. Then the question becomes: why did he hold that view?

# 9 Obama calls us white " folks " not people.
Just as he dismissively referred to members of the
military as " folks " in the last debate
Obama talking about Governor Romney and Afghanistan.
" In the same way that you say you would
have ended the war in Iraq,
but recently gave a speech saying that we should have 20,000 more " folks " in there. "
His use of " folks " is his racist term for whites.
Dreams From My Father page 80-81.
" White Folks ( in italics ) the term itself was uncomfortable in my mouth at first...
Sometimes I would find myself talking to Ray ( his black friend ) about white folks ( italics ) this or white folks
( italics ) that .."
He wrote about drying dishes with his Gramps and grandma Toot would come in the room
" and those same words white folks ( italics ) would flash in my head like a bright neon sign
and I would suddenly grow silent as if I had secrets to keep ."
He goes on to describe the use of the bigoted term white folks and how he " distrusted whites."
" Our rage at the white world needed no object.."
It is jaw dropping not just how open Obama is throughout
" Dreams .." about his hatred of " white folks ", but, also
how this overt prejudice
was completely ignored by the media.
If four rappers or four NBA players were being slaughtered
would Obama have watched and done nothing ?

But I did ck out the embassy situation and there are embassies in Tripoli- about 70. Why did Benghazi merit attention of an ambassador?
The key is that the National Front for the Liberation of Libya is HQ'd in Benghazi. This group got guns and rockets from us and nato. I think the USA is still supplying ammo and guns to them and they are sending them to Syria. Imo, it was going to come out....

President Obama will unveil his 2014 spending plan Wednesday, 65 days late and several trillion dollars short, by Republican standards, of effectively reining in the national debt. But the more relevant fact about the White House budget may be the yawning political void into which it is about to fall on Capitol Hill. Administration officials say their plan offers a path to compromise, a centrist course that avoids the extreme spending cuts of the House Republican budget as well as the $1 trillion tax hike endorsed last month by Senate Democrats. Check out the video proof posted by Buzzfeed. “I believe law abiding citizens ought to be able to own a gun,” he said during a 2004 presidential debate against Democratic challenger John Kerry. “I believe in background checks, at gun shows, or anywhere to make sure

Dylan Quick, 20, who is suspected of stabbing 15 people Tuesday at Lone Star College-Cy Fair, became familiar with the school nearly a decade ago when he began attending book clubs and other teen activities on campus. His story was told last week on Lone Star-Cy Fair blog created by and for teens transitioning from high school to college. The student spotlight published on April 1 describes how Quick began coming to the Harris County Public Library´s on-campus branch at age 12 for activities that helped him transform from a withdrawn young man to an outgoing college student. "Initially reluctant

Former South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, now the president of the conservative Heritage Foundation, said Tuesday that his former colleagues’ largely secret negotiations about immigration reform are troubling. A bipartisan group, dubbed the “Gang of Eight,” has been spearheading immigration reform efforts for months, and no legislative text has been presented to date. When it is presented, Democratic leadership in the Senate and Republican leadership in the House are expected to try to rush the bill through to passage. In remarks to the Heritage Foundation’s Blogger’s Briefing on Tuesday

What Does Obama Think

It seems very odd that President Obama has made gun control the signature issue of his second term, so far. He can’t possibly achieve any significant legislation; a few tweaks to the background check system, maybe, but there is no chance of getting any meaningful gun control through the House. The House Democrats aren’t even trying. So it also seems strange that all eyes are on the Senate, where Harry Reid will unveil some sort of gun legislation–no one knows what, exactly–on Thursday. The party’s left-wing base is lining up behind the bill, sight unseen.

Police Poll: Armed Citizens,

In a poll conducted by PoliceOne, a majority of law enforcement personnel said universal background checks, "assault weapons" bans, and "high capacity" magazine bans do not make police safer and will not lower violent crime. Armed citizens, on the other hand, do make a positive difference. In the poll of 15,000 law enforcement professionals, 71% of respondents said an "assault weapons" ban would have zero impact on violent crime. Of those surveyed, 95.7% said the same of a "high capacity" magazine ban, and 79.7% said the same in response to a question on universal background checks.

Vice President Joe Biden gave a heated speech on reducing gun violence this afternoon, lashing out at Republican senators who have vowed to filibuster the gun-control legislation. “It’s almost mind-boggling,” Biden said to law-enforcement officials in Washington, D.C. He asked the senators to consider how their actions are being viewed by the international community: “In sophisticated capitals and in less-sophisticated capitals, they all reported on Sandy Hook, they all reported on Aurora.” “What do you think is being said today in those capitals about us?”

Thatcher a ‘fiercely loyal’

Margaret Thatcher captured Americans’ hearts and minds in a way few other foreign leaders have done, and much of that was because of the symbiotic relationship she had with President Reagan — a relationship that in many ways mirrored the storied “special” friendship between the two countries. Mrs. Thatcher, who died Monday at age 87, was a tough-talking maverick who was bullish on the promise of the U.S. as a force on the international stage. Those traits appealed to Americans weary of the 1970s malaise and eager to hear reasons to believe in themselves. “She had the perfect balance between

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. Some conservatives have called on Obama to give up golf, especially since popular public tours of the White House have been canceled because of

West Virginia Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller, one of the towering architects of Obamacare, on Tuesday openly criticized program managers for not moving quickly enough to build the system, warning that if it gets off to a bumpy start it will just get worse. Decrying the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as way too complex, he warned the acting Medicare director that Obamacare is "so complicated and if it isn´t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse."

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Although the first votes on gun -control legislation have yet to be cast, by some measures the National Rifle Association has already won. Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

Margaret Thatcher had more impact on the world than any woman ruler since Catherine the Great of Russia. Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.

Liberals descended on Pennsylvania Avenue Tuesday to protest President Barack Obama´s decision to include entitlement cuts in his upcoming budget, delivering 2 million petitions demanding the White House back off its support for the chained CPI. As we reported this weekend, liberals have been seething over the inclusion of the chained CPI in Obama´s budget, which they see as a huge betrayal by the Democratic president. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius conceded Monday that implementing the Affordable Care Act has been more complicated and frustrating than the Obama administration expected, largely due to Republicans who have opposed the law´s state-based exchanges and Medicaid expansion. "The politics has been relentless and that continues," Sebelius said. "There was some hope that once the Supreme Court ruled in July, and then once an election occurred there would be a sense that, ´This is the law of the land, let´s get on board, let´s make this work.´"

In a stunning end to one of the most aggressively unsuccessful tenures in retail history, JCPenney (JCP) last night announced that CEO Ron Johnson would be leaving effective immediately. Myron Ullman, Johnson´s predecessor at JCPenney, takes office as CEO. When Johnson was initially wooed by JCPenney, it was to serve as CEO with Ullman as Chairman. In January 2012, Ullman was unceremoniously removed from the board. Gone with Ullman was any control the Board of Directors had over Ron Johnson and his control of JCPenney resources.
