Muslim Pilgrims Stone
Devil in Symbolic Hajj Rite

Associated Press, by Aya Batrawy

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 10/27/2012 11:39:30 AM

Millions of pilgrims in Saudi Arabia on Friday furiously cast pebbles in a symbolic stoning of the devil, carrying out a final rite of hajj, as Muslims around the world celebrated the start of Islam's biggest holiday, the Feast of Sacrifice. After stoning three walls symbolizing Satan in a rejection of sin and temptation, male pilgrims changed out of the seamless terrycloth robes of pilgrimage and shaved their heads, as a sign of renewal. Women — and those men who prefer not to undergo a complete shave — had a lock of hair clipped.

Comments:
Christians defeat the devil by not emulating him.

Ironic how they stone the devil in one ritual then walk around a building containing a stone and worship him in another.

The Benghazi bureaucracy moved today. In a letter to Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the State Department said it has issued instructions on how lawyers representing Benghazi whistleblowers may seek clearances to handle classified information. The letter instructs such lawyers to direct their requests to the “Assistant Legal Adviser for Employment Law within the Office of the Legal Adviser.” Boring stuff, but also important stuff. NEW YORK — Federal authorities have charged 13 people in a sex slave ring that forced young Mexican women into prostitution in New York and New Jersey. The authorities say some of the women were delivered to farms in New Jersey, where each would have sex with up to 25 farm workers a day. Others worked in brothels located in dingy apartments in poor neighborhoods. Court papers say that customers paid $30 for 15 minutes of sex. The women would get $15 but were usually forced to give it to traffickers who had smuggled them into the United States.

A shout echoed out of Plaza Olvera after dawn Wednesday. A janitor whose small frame belied her booming voice stood at the center of a circle of people, leading the chant: "Obama, escucha: Estamos en la lucha." The 40 or so others -- a fraction of those expected to show up at a May Day march later in the day -- echoed her cry, which more or less translates to "Listen up, Obama: We are in the fight." For the small but boisterous group of activists who gathered Wednesday morning, May Day is as much a plea for immigration change

Krentcil took to the studio last Thursday to record the rap track, "It´s Tan Mom," according to RumorFix.com. In her best Britney Spears imitation, Krentcil opens the song with, "It´s tan mom (expletive)!" When it came to figuring out a sound for the single, Krentcil said she was influenced by Rihanna´s hit song "Diamonds." Still, the 44-year-old Nutley resident insisted she added her own spin to the track.

A new book says President Obama´s staff features "a cadre of idolizers," but he is also trying to reach beyond the confines of what he calls the White House "bubble." Barack Obama has said that the hardest thing about being president is staying in touch with ´the flow of everyday life,´" says author Kenneth T. Walsh. "And he has admitted that one of the biggest mistakes he made during his first term was confining himself to the White House too much."

Even as the White House strove last week to move beyond questions about the Benghazi attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2012, fresh evidence emerged that senior Obama administration officials knowingly misled the country about what had happened in the days following the assaults. The Weekly Standard has obtained a timeline briefed by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence detailing the heavy substantive revisions made to the CIA’s talking points, just six weeks before the 2012 presidential election, and additional information about why the changes were made and by whom. MEXICO CITY — President Obama on Friday painted a sunny picture of a modern Mexico emerging from its past troubles, an attempt at rebranding that serves the political aims of both governments but clashes with the realities of a country beset by violence and poverty. On his second day of a swing through Latin America, Obama emphasized optimism about Mexico´s economic future and offered a broad endorsement of President Enrique Peña Nieto´s reform agenda. Speaking to a crowd largely made up of high school and college students, Obama pushed the next generation of Mexicans to continue to demand change.

Rep. At a meeting with some of his constituents in Janesville, Wisc., on Apr. 29, Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, was asked about

A new poll from Emily’s List shows an overwhelming number of voters now support the idea. It’s a movement the group hopes someone in the sisterhood is about to inherit. With polls showing Hillary Clinton holding a formidable lead over all other potential candidates for president in 2016, a press conference to promote the idea of a woman president seems a little behind the news, a treasured dream catching up with a new reality, or perhaps a stalking horse for Clinton.

Hi, everybody. Today, I’m speaking to you from the road — a trip to Mexico and Costa Rica. I’m here because Latin America represents an incredible opportunity for the United States, especially when it comes to my top priority as President: creating good, middle-class jobs. On Friday, we learned that our businesses created another 176,000 jobs last month. That’s 2.2 million new jobs over the past year, and 6.8 million new jobs over the past 38 months. But as I´ve said before, I won’t be satisfied until everyone who wants a job can find one.
