Obama: 'Not personally aware' of
security requests before Libya attack

Fox News, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:PChristopher, 10/26/2012 11:05:11 PM

President Obama said Friday he was "not personally aware" of any request for more security by U.S. diplomats in Libya before the Sept. 11 strike on the consulate. The president addressed questions about those requests during an interview on "The Michael Smerconish Show." Several weeks ago, former security officers testified on Capitol Hill that they had sought additional protection in the months leading up to the attack -- further, a recently released cable from Ambassador Chris Stevens himself on the day of the attack noted "growing problems with security" in Benghazi.

Comments:
I'm sure it's President Bush's fault for not telling him he had to pay attention while in office instead of acting like a Marxist Soros stooge.

This turkey and his minions have been lying to the American people since day one. They need to go.

Obama was also not 'personally aware' of 300 dead in Mexico.
Or 14 dead in Ft Hood Texas.
But somehow this all fits together.

OK, let me get this straight.......

Obama was either NOT informed of the attack......which means he is NOT living up to his Presidential responsibilities....

OR

is irresponsible in his Presidential responsibilities !!!!!!!

WHICH ONE IS IT ?????????

Reply 4 - Posted by: quark, 10/26/2012 11:12:52 PM     (No. 8965986)

What about requests made during the attack??
didn't know anything then either?

Reply 5 - Posted by: annie xango, 10/26/2012 11:15:07 PM     (No. 8965989)

of course, he was "not personally aware"..remember where he hangs out..it ain't the Oval Office.he is upstairs in his recliner, in sweats and flip flops watching ESPN..NO ONE is allowed in, per Val Jar..and then don't take more than 10 min..Ulsterman and the Insider know...

Reply 6 - Posted by: Constitutional, 10/26/2012 11:15:54 PM     (No. 8965992)

Why are these mean people pestering the president with all these silly questions?

Don't they know he has important campaigning to do?

Next they'll be expecting him to actually attend those boring security briefings.

Reply 7 - Posted by: MMC, 10/26/2012 11:16:18 PM     (No. 8965994)

ValJar told him to get rested for campaign trail..she had situation room covered... Plausible denial..

Well, those are your employees, Mr. Obama. Making the administration run well is not just an aspect of your job, it is your job.

Reply 10 - Posted by: SteelTurman, 10/26/2012 11:20:38 PM     (No. 8966002)

He knew and he went to sleep.

He left it to his most trusted ...

... Valerie Jarrett.

PIAPS 'took full responsibility' for it last week ... right?

Or did she?

The next shoe to drop will be the State Department claiming they also did not tell anyone to 'stand down'.

That will leave POTUS in the lurch.

The CIA Director has denied the CIA refused any request for help during the attack. NOTE: This if from the Director himself, not some 3d grade flunky as others are prone to do.

Reply 12 - Posted by: horacer, 10/26/2012 11:27:51 PM     (No. 8966017)

BS, this would have been brought up at NSA briefings. Of course if he failed to attend he probably would be unaware. Instead of saying "not personally aware," he should say "I just don't give a damn about doing my job."

Makes no difference, although I'm certain that he knew. This is the kind of weaselly thing he has been doing his entire life.

However, in this case, the buck stops at the Oval Office! The people in the chain of command were appointed by him and he is responsible for this fiasco.

To not try to rescue these americans that were put in harms way is reprehensible and he should be impeached and removed from office!

C'mon guys give him a break. All he knew how to do as a senator was vote present and that was too hard.
Now all he knows how to do is not be present.

If he was aware of the attack within 15 minutes of the time he started then it was dereliction of duty.

If he was aware and lied about it he is incompetent

If as was reported today there was either an armed drone or a C-130 Specter over the site and it was given clearance to attack then he should be force to resign and the democrats should be allowed to insert another candidate in his place

There are no other option given what Obama has said and what is known of the situation

It's 470 miles from Sigonella, IT to Benghazi. A C-130 cruises at 330mph.

So tired of this Administration. Valerie Jarrett is running our country, while Obama and Michelle party their butts off. I shudder to think what national security secrets she has had access too.

We expect people to rise to meet challenges and to grow into the jobs they have. Line cook, foreman, roofer, president, makes no difference what the job is. We expect people to grow with their experience and become better.

That is why it is so jarring to witness someone actually shrink. It is worse than failure, because failure implies at least SOME effort, albeit inadequate. With this statement Obama confirms that he has gone from "present" to "absent." He is the antithesis of everything we value and everything we are as Americans.

What in the world were we thinking?

The Benghazi Bullsitter is just limping along to re-election. He couldn't care less about the people that got killed so long as he can come up with enough Presidential sounding sock and bull stories to make it past the election. This is really bad and getting worse. I really hope some democrats in this country wake up and see this poseur for what he really is, but first they are going to have to realize how much interference the MSM is running for him and how much leftist kool-aid they have guzzled first. Unfortunately chances are the dumbed-down, self-absorbed, media-influenced, celebrity-obsessed lemmings don't want to admit to being duped, but every little bit helps!

Reply 38 - Posted by: M2, 10/27/2012 7:49:04 AM     (No. 8966394)

There are only three reasons he'd say he "wasn't personally aware" of the long-standing requests for help:

1. He wasn't told, which is unconscionable.
2. He told everyone else to "Handle it and wake me when it's over", which is typical of him but still unconscionable.
3. He is lying, which is unconscionable.

If he really wasn't told, who was running this operation, Valerie Jarrett?

Who denied the requests for help?

Is the media that far gone that they put Obama's re-election ahead of American servicemen's lives? This gets more evil by the moment.

It seems like every member of the administration from POTUS down to clerks had no awareness of the Libya attack. Too,I scanned through the NYT, LAT and not one word about Lybia in their "global" or "world" sections of their front page.
It is clear that the Obama gang has shut down all and any mention of Lybia from any news organs of the Obama propaganda machine. All these IDK 's are lies and fabrications are seeped in molassases pits of Obama's cadre of know-nothings.

The gutless, Obama shilling left wing media is sticking to the oncoming storm to avoid discussing the Libya attack. The media and Obama's gaggle are one amorphous mass working together to destroy our country as we've known it.

Reply 43 - Posted by: gaeditor, 10/27/2012 8:25:15 AM     (No. 8966480)

This thing is getting more suspicious as it goes along. Read a blog this morning about how Chris Stevens was riding in an unarmored car and something struck me.

We have friends whose son works for the US State Department in that part of the world. In fact, he was in Libya when this went down. (He's fine-he wasn't in Benghazi.) One thing I remember that he says you make yourself look non-descript in every way -your car, your appearance, everything. But our ambassador? He would be easy to pick out - photos of him would be everywhere. How could he possibly get around without security or in an unarmored vehicle??? That's insane.

I don't wear a tinfoil hat by an stretch of the imagination, but this entire thing smells, beginning to end.

The fact that the press (except Fox and maybe Jake Tapper) can't see anything odd about it, just shows how stupid or corrupt they really are.

Like others, I heard the very detailed, very knowledgable retired military officer speak in no uncertain terms the protocol for informing the POTUS of matters relating to diplomats and diplomatic consuls. It is protocol that news is walked directy to the President, and told to him directly. There is no way in living heck that Obama did not know what was happening WHEN it was happening.

He and all of his minions are guilty of watching and causing the murder of American heroes. Period.

The man has no character, honor, and his soul is dead. It sickens me to know that men of courage, honor and principle were left to die on the altar of Obama's ego.

She thinks She is Defacto President there and is running the country. (She probably is as Obama is just "Present" all the time)

Obama is rounding up the scape goats. Now would be a really good time for each of them to go on record:

I, Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State, requested increased armed military protection for Benghazi on the following dates. Protocol dictated that security requests by Cabinet level leaders be denied by someone of cabinet level rank. Denials are documented for higher level review.

Reply 52 - Posted by: oriton, 10/27/2012 9:32:51 AM     (No. 8966621)

This is how obama operates. He says the opposite of the truth or he tells you who he is or what he's doing by projecting onto others. He says Romney is/has Romnesia (stupid) because he doesn't remember the lies he's told and it shows. He (his surrogates) call Romney a liar b/c obit's a liar. He says the buck stops with him (Benghazi)...not, he's saying, "I-I-I-I-I-I didn't know). So, this statement (lie) means he was absolutely aware of the requests.

Reply 53 - Posted by: angelesgift, 10/27/2012 9:36:21 AM     (No. 8966626)

If this had happened on a Republican president's watch, you can bet there would have been 24/7 wall-to-wall coverage and no way the President could weasel out of responsibility.

Liberals have seriously decided that they are so morally superior to conservatives, things they do wrong are accidents and understandable - and far less important than pointing out the evil of their opponents. That's why the empty chair is so annoyed about being questioned. How dare they?!!

As Dan Frisa says, "The left cares not about the truth, only about wielding political power to impose their know-it-all will on the American people."

FTA Obama said public statements made at the time about the nature of the attack were based on initial intelligence -- and that nobody was playing politics.

Nobody was playing politics? Who are they kidding. That's all the Dim party does. EVERYTHING they say, think, or do is colored by the lens of politics. Of how to gain and keep political power. They are consumed by it. And most people with a modicum of common and horse sense knows it.

I really can't believe I started out early in life calling myself a democrat. Of course that was before I was properly educated and had the blinds remove from my eyes.

President George Bush would have known this.
President Romney would have known this.
Obama can recite a minute by minute replay of every NBA game.
He goes into great detail about the skills of Tim Tebow and LeBron James.
He appears every year on ESPN discussing at great length the pros and cons of
over 60 college basketball teams.
But, when it comes to the official duties of the POTUS and Commander in Chief ..
he's ahhhhh, uhhhhhh.. clueless.
Obama sounded like he was the WH spokesman and not the president.
General Petraeus issued a statement yesterday denying that the CIA had ever refused requests to help those trapped in the consulate.
Congressman Chaffetz of Utah
said he asked General Ham, Commander AFRICOM and he said something similar.
Obama is the Commander in Chief.
He and he alone ,
refused to send military help to those Americans being slaughtered in Benghazi.
The image of SEAL Tyrone Woods , wounded , under fire
on the burning roof , lasing the target
and expecting the
cavalry to come to his aid ,
as a cold blooded Obama gave the thumbs down -
should haunt every American.
It haunts and enrages me.

Forget impeachment. Doesn't a leader have to be a member of an organization to lead it? And, as such, isn't he subject to the same rules and regulations of that organization?

As President, Obama is the Commander in Chief of the United States Military, so shouldn't he be subject to the same Uniform Code of Military Justice as the rest of the military.

I think its apparent that Obama did not well and faithfully execute the duties and obligations of his office.

Thus, I believe, that Obama should be courtmartialed for flagrant direlection of duty with respect (at least) for Benghzi.

Sit there for four years just like a big bump-on-a-log.

Who can take the public, fool some voters, too,
Sprinkle them with kool-aid-that’s what he will always do
Obama man-yes Obama man-Obama man can ’cause he mixes lies with spin and makes himself look good.

Obama man fakes, every buck he takes-gives them to the undeserving,
Talk about wealth-distribution,

Here's the signal I'm picking up while I wear my baseball hat with the tinfoil inside:

Obama --- master planner of Fast & Furious --- expected a hostage situation where he could "rescue" the Ambassador and show leadership. But the darn Muzzies didn't co-operate and offed the Ambassador instead while yelling "We don't need no stinking hostages!".

When I use extra thick foil I pick up a signal that Obama wanted the good Ambassador killed because he knew too much ... about something!

"He must have been misled." [Humphrey Bogart -- Csablanca]. By Hillary and the State Deptartment. By his staff getting reports in real time. By somebody who gave the order to "Stand Down" without checking with him. By somebody else who said "the video did it." And the heads of state who said "U.S. presidents always bow when the meet us." And then there was the person who said he was collectively coverting him to Christ. And the person who taught him how to throw a baseball like a popover. And his Indonesian mentor who gave him dog to eat and said it was wagyu steak. Everyone.

I put these links out there on 10/19/2012 and not many may have seen them, so I guess it's time to do it again, but it's best to add them to the beginning of a thread so more people will see them. Once you have read a thread, most do not return to read it again unless you contribute to the thread and want to see if there are any replies or rebuttals.

Not only were the requests for more security turned down, but a significant amount of security was removed a month or two BEFORE the attack.

Why was security pulled from Libya while the Paris embassy had a detachment of Marines?

Clinton should have been aware of this. She also should have kept Obama informed. Where was the ball dropped?

Obama criticized for using

As President Obama prepares to head to Colorado on Wednesday to push gun control legislation, some are calling into question the validity of a key statistic he’s using to tout his message on near-universal background checks. During several speeches, Obama has said 40 percent of all gun purchases were made without a background check. But that number is nearly two decades old and comes from a poll with a relatively tiny sample size.

Hit Cable Series on the Rise

Amid a backdrop of record-low ratings for some broadcast shows, cable is feeling pretty good about its prospects in this year’s upfront advertising sales derby. For the season, ad-supported cable as a group has opened up a bigger ratings advantage over the Big Four – and has beaten the broadcasters in the 18-49 demo on a regular basis in a handful of timeslots. But cablers still feel slighted by Madison Avenue because they rarely command ad rates that are commensurate with broadcasters. That may not change this year, but the tipping point feels like it’s getting closer.

President Barack Obama´s bid to renew a ban against military-style assault weapons narrowly won the backing of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday and headed to the full Senate, where it appears certain to fail. On a party line vote of 10-8, the Democratic-led panel approved a bill to renew a ban similar to one that expired in 2004. The measure would also limit high-capacity ammunition clips to 10 bullets.

This administration certainly loves drones, but even that ardent passion has limits. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Tuesday put a stop to production of a medal that was to be awarded to drone operators, and not a moment too soon. It wasn’t just the idea of the Distinguished Warfare Medal that offended good sense. The real outrage was ignited by the goofy idea to give it precedence over medals awarded for bravery and valor.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
