Petraeus Throws Obama Under the Bus
The Weekly Standard, by William Kristol

Original Article

Posted By:post cretaceous, 10/26/2012 9:44:41 PM

Breaking news on Benghazi: the CIA spokesman, presumably at the direction of CIA director David Petraeus, has put out this statement: "No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.” It would have been a presidential decision. There was presumably a rationale for such a decision. What was it? When and why—and based on whose counsel obtained in what meetings or conversations—did President Obama decide against sending in military assets to help the Americans in need?

This is not done yet. Amazing, too, that a local Denver reporter has more journalistic integrity than the rest of the MSM!

Obama has thrown 3 cabinet members under the bus in an effort to deflect the ugliness of the deadly debacle and the subsequent weeks of lies about Benghazi from himself.

The complicit media is heroically trying to cover all this up. The story is simply wiped from many media channels. Still, as the truth comes out, the firestorm is getting worse.

Clearly, the CIA was being set up as a scapegoat and apparently Petraeus said NO.

What respect I had for Petraeus has vanished. He joined Obama and has thrown in with the forces of evil. He has been SILENT while the CIA has been blamed and trashed by Obama and Company.

This isn't an honest response--it is a weasel statement.

Maybe this is payback. Too bad the basest hound, Panetta, doesn't have as much backbone,

Resign, you scrofulous little man! The Republic will survive ten weeks of President Biden.

President GW Bush kept America safe for 7 years and free from ANY attacks, and that included installations overseas, as well.

Obama may have been personally responsible for the deaths of 4 Americans, as he went off to campaign.

You simply do NOT mess with our intelligence community - they know too much.

Patraeus' training in military strategies and tactics trumps his (so-called) CIC. Our military would follow Patraeus wherever he leads them! Good man.

Washington is a cesspool with these Chicago thugs in charge. The truth is gradually coming out. Zero hopefully will be held completely culpable by the election. I think he already told Mouchelle to start packing.

Once again, I must opine that the reason ambassador sullivan was at the consulate, and the reason he was not protected properly had to do with the administration's narrative that the arab spring was composed of peace loving, moderate muslims, who loved America.

If troops went in to rescue the ambassador, that would contradict the narrative. Better to take the hit, lie about it, apologize to the filthy islamofascist terrorist pigs for the unseen video, and drag it out until after novemeber 6.

Petraeus just took CIA out of the chain. By his wording, not only did no one at CIA make the decision to not help, no one at CIA passed on any such order from the president. That leaves only State and Defense. Ths list of suspects narrows.

I agree with #3. Great disappointment in the once seemingly heroic Petraeus. He hasn't been seen or heard from since obama gave him the job of CIA "director". I thought he was in witness protection. Don't know what happened to him but it isn't good. Too little, too late, General.

What is Petraeus supposed to do? Scream and yell? Hold a press conference?

He kept silent because the CIA was not involved in Benghazi.

The CIA is not supposed to be out there and making statements and being political.

Petraeus has been doing what the CIA is supposed to do.

But, he will not allow the CIA to be thrown under the bus.

Good for him.

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass. The report cited United Kingdom diplomats, saying Pyongyang was demanding the U.S. president personally call Kim Jong-un as one of the conditions to relieve the current conflict at hand. Itar-Tass also quoted the U.K.’s Sky News as saying North Korea currently has eight nuclear warheads.

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. Annette Funicello, the dark-haired darling of TV´s “The Mickey Mouse Club” in the 1950s who further cemented her status as a pop-culture icon in the ´60s by teaming with Frankie Avalon in a popular series of “beach” movies, died Monday. She was 70. Funicello, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987 and became a spokeswoman for treatment of the chronic, often-debilitating disease of the central nervous system, died at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, Walt Disney Co. spokesman Howard Green said. On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary
