DETROIT — Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has told a Detroit church audience that African Americans should pool their money and buy up property as a way to save the city.(snip) The leader of the Chicago-based movement says Christian ministers shouldn´t compromise in their opposition to gay marriage. He says there should be unity between Christians and Muslims because both faiths revere Jesus. He also says he isn´t anti-Semitic, citing the fact he´s "never been arrested, not even for spitting on a sidewalk" and has never defaced a synagogue.

Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), the Senate Finance Committee Chairman, predicted in an interview airing Sunday that the scandal surrounding the Internal Revenue Service selectively targeting conservative political groups will grow. “I have a hunch that a lot more is going to come out, frankly,” Baucus told Bloomberg News. “It’s broader than the current focus.” Steven Miller, the acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service who was ousted earlier this week, is testifying Friday before the House Ways and Means committee in what is expected to be the first of many congressional grillings over the scandal.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has a personal reason for wanting to ban discrimination in the workplace. "My niece is a lesbian," Reid told the Huffington Post on Wednesday. "She´s a school teacher. Her employment shouldn´t be affected with that. We should have a law that says that, not just the good graces of wherever you work." Italy has announced the United States was transferring 200 marines and two planes to its base at Sigonella in Sicily to deploy in Libya in case US diplomats come under attack as they did last year. WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. Even as his administration has faced intense scrutiny over a trio of controversies, President Obama’s approval rating hasn’t suffered, according to a new CNN/ORC International poll released Sunday. Fifty-three percent of Americans said they approve of the job the president is doing, while 45 percent said they disapprove. That’s virtually unchanged from an early April survey in which Obama’s approval/disapproval split was 51 percent to 47 percent. The poll is one of the earliest indicators of how Obama’s image has been affected during one of the worst weeks of his presidency.
