| General Motors (GM) will invest 450m dollars to manufacture a new global Chevy vehicle at its Rosario Automotive Complex in Argentina. The investment will be made between 2013 and 2015 at the Rosario facility, which produced more than 136,000 vehicles in 2011. The announcement was made following a meeting at Government House of GM CEO Dan Akerson with President Cristina Fernandez. Under the code name Project Phoenix, GM will manufacture a global platform car exclusive for Mercosur and the region.

Pouring our taxpayer money down the rathole of Argentina, which has a bad habit of stealing assets from foreign investors. $450 million is a Solyndra-like amount, nearly half a billion dollars. But cheer up, Cristina Fernandez, the Evita-like presidenta of Argentina, has given Obama her endorsement.

This will work really well for Government Motors - until the perennially crooked Argentine government nationalizes the new GM plant, as they did with the private pensions and savings accounts of millions of Argentinians.

Seriously, it would be hard to find a worse case of a third-world nation trying to pass itself off as a developed nation. There is huge political risk with Argentina - Expect to be taxed to death down the road.

The 50-year-old former bus driver received 50.7 percent of the votes, the national electoral council said after about 99 percent of ballots were counted. Henrique Capriles Radonski, who temporarily stepped down as governor of Miranda state to run, had 49.1 percent and vowed to contest the results. “We had a fair and constitutional victory,” Maduro said after the results were announced. “This is another victory, a homage to our comandante Hugo Chavez.”

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.
