"Ikea has obeyed the wild Wahhabi regime of the Saudis and 'adapted' its catalogue by Shariah by deleting all of the images of women and girls," feminist movement Femen, which claimed responsibility for the protest action, said on its website. The three women, aged 32, 23 and 22, were fully clothed when they entered the Ikea store near Hamburg in northern Germany. In the toilets, however, they removed their tops and painted German flags over their breasts and daubed feminist messages across

I have never understood people worrying about an exposed breast. Even less so, people exposing them as a means of getting attention.

Besides, I'm a leg man.

While I admire their protest, it still isn't gonna get me to shop at Ikea.......

1. IMHO, Islam is a far bigger problem for and threat to women than Ikea's catalog edits could ever be.

2. For the first time, I might be interested in responding to the PA call for "clean-up in Aisle Six."

3. Re the Ikea catalog knuckle-under [Larger-Issue Division] -- why is it that the West must "accept" [read: capitulate to] the "diversity" of Islamic Sharia, but never ask for any acceptance of our principles from Muslim "cultures" and nations?

4. A small point of curiosity -- Ikea's efforts in China went nowhere [cultural thing, no "handyman" or do-it-yourself ethos (why do I think that's very revealing of many things?)]. It's pretty hard for me to think that Saudi men are up to their eyeballs in Western-style boot-strap-itis, chomping at projects to get their furniture-manufacturer-provided Allen wrenches into. Then again, there are a bunch of Saudis who have zero -- Z-e-e-e. Roh. -- prospect of families of their own, with wealthier males snagging 2, 3, 4 wives. So maybe assembling Swedish bookcases fills their time?

But wait. A Saudi bookcase could fit in a shoebox, considering it only needs to hold one book....

I fully supportthe right of women to bare their breasts. And I don't care what the protest is.

If they wish to protest, how about going to Saudi Arabia and protesting the culture that puts livestock ahead of women? What's that, they say - don't want to be whipped or stoned?

Stay classy. And cowardly.

Hey, considering it's Ikea, maybe they, or someone like Lowe's or Home Depot [or Mattress World?] should start Saturday in-store demonstrations of protest-painting?

Oh -- and contests! Most creative, best use of space, like that. And how about a "Mt. Rushmore Look-Alike" contest? For twins?

#7: I'd suggest a separate, annual, [monthly, even] prize just for topless protests. An occasional Nobel isn't going to hold up.

#8: He's probably got someone negotiating appearances at all their store openings already.

#11: Good one. No homework for you this weekend.

#13: Do you want close-ups? Or profiles? Maybe a slide show [like so many websites now use to run up big numbers of phony page views]?

When Salim Mansur, a political scientist at the University of Western Ontario, asked me to provide a promotion blurb for his 2011 book Delectable Lie: A Liberal Repudiation of Multiculturalism, I was only too happy to oblige. Here’s what I wrote: “In an age of ideological conformity such as ours, it takes courage to speak against the prevailing orthodoxy. This is a courageous book. Professor Mansur exposes how multiculturalism corrodes the values and traditions that sustain Canada as a liberal democratic order. The result is a book to galvanize Canadians against the apostles of extremist progressivism.”

In a meeting with the heads of the five service branches in 2010, President Obama offered the leaders a choice: Support my efforts to end the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, or resign. A "vast majority" of Mitt Romney donors, establishment pooh-bahs, and an anti-conservative consultant who is the epitome of permanent political class want former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to run for president in 2016. Bush was in Las Vegas this week meeting with Sheldon Adelson, and, according to the Post, "many if not most of 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney’s major donors are reaching out to Bush and his confidants with phone calls, e-mails and invitations to meet." One bundler even said that a "vast majority” of "Romney’s top 100 donors would back Bush." The Post also noted that in the meantime "Bush’s

I have no objections to Jeb Bush running for president. He obviously has a wide appeal as a potential candidate. (Snip) His support of Common Core, however, will also find many who are in the conservative ranks objecting, since they fear that Common Core represents educational centralism and having the government ram federal standards down their throats. What I do object to is that Bush is already being heralded as the obvious candidate, the man to whom the big money must and will flow. Obamacare, the plan purportedly created to provide health coverage for the uninsured, has enrolled just 1.7% of America´s 48.6 million uninsured. News of the disastrous numbers comes as nervous Democrats and President Barack Obama, ahead of the November midterm elections, did their best on Monday´s enrollment deadline to put a positive spin on the deeply unpopular Obamacare program. (Snip) The White House now claims an Obamacare enrollment figure of six million people. However, according to The New York Times, at least 20% of those never paid their premiums to activate coverage, leaving them uninsured.

YOKOHAMA, Japan — Climate change is already having sweeping effects on every continent and throughout the world’s oceans, scientists reported Monday, and they warned that the problem is likely to grow substantially worse unless greenhouse emissions are brought under control. The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group that periodically summarizes climate science, concluded that ice caps are melting, sea ice in the Arctic is collapsing, water supplies are coming under stress, heat waves and heavy rains are intensifying, coral reefs are dying, and fish and many other creatures are migrating toward the poles or

A National Labor Relations Board official has given the green light to Northwestern University football players to form a union. The March 26 decision by the NLRB´s Chicago regional director, Peter Sung Ohr, held that scholarship football players are "employees" for purposes of federal labor law. Ohr rejected the longstanding view of Northwestern and the National Collegiate Athletic Association that players are "student-athletes" rather than employees. While Ohr´s decision is hardly the final word on this issue, it does accelerate the legal and political battle against the NCAA and its century-old amateurism rules. Is Football Academic? The new rules set rear visibility standards that automakers will initially be able to meet only by installing cameras. Drinking Earl Grey tea could help guard against heart disease, it has emerged, after a study found that bergamot extract--a key ingredient in the hot drink--is just as effective as statins at controlling cholesterol. Scientists believe bergamot, a fragrant Mediterranean citrus fruit which gives Earl Grey tea its distinctive flavour, can significantly lower cholesterol. They say it contains enzymes known as HMGF (hydroxy methyl glutaryl flavonones) which can attack proteins in the body known to cause heart disease. The study found bergamot could even be as effective as statins, used to control cholesterol but which can have side effects in

WASHINGTON — LeBron James wants you to sign up for health coverage under Obamacare. So do Magic Johnson and Jonah Hill’s mom. Monday is (sort of) the deadline for Americans without employer-provided health coverage to sign up for insurance under the Affordable Care Act — the White House extended it so that anyone who’s begun to sign up by Monday can still complete the process by April 7 — and the final enrollment numbers will be an important test for a law intended to expand access for the uninsured. It’ll also be a test for the White House’s high-octane sales
